Hello David, can't be too much wrong. It's either fuel or spark. If you're running points, then you need to look at the gap regularly and clean the contact breakers. If you're running an electronic ignition like a Pazon or whatnot, it's probably fuel. If the carb is an Amal, just pull the float bowl off, clean things out as well as the gauze filters you'll find and see how that goes. If you have anything like condensors or capacitors, you might need to check them. Cheers.
Hi Thank you for your advice, I've ordered a new ignition coil complete with cable and cap also a new condenser as still on points, loom is new but I intend to check each connector, as you say not much to go wrong. I've owned this bike over 10 years now and it's used regularly all year around. I'll sort it and post an updated. Regards Dave
Very nice original bike you have. First of my group of friends to get a bike for road use bought a C12, always liked them, and indeed all the pre-unit BSA's of that era, not a fan of any of their unit replacements with their egg shaped timing covers. Don't think they were as durable either. Used to use Hartford bridge flats going past Blackbushe for "See what she'll do" performance testing when I was a teen biker in the early seventies..
Hello Thank you for your comments I feel the same re the pri unit era they also make for better Hoby bikes, easy to sort clutch or gearbox issues without having to pull the whole engine apart. Regards Dave

Not quite the required result.
No not this time, I think the points wiring connector could have been lose and swapping the points finished it off
