Saw the movie 250 times probably before the age 20 own the movie today and played that damn soundtrack 10,000 times. Great song best soundtract great movie
This is one of Iggy's best tunes, the original features Steve Jones ex - Sex Pistols on guitar, this version is a pretty close second considering the original was recorded in 1984
Iggy is what, just under 70 here? Yet he still finds a reason to take off his shirt - and he's in better shape than I am at this time. One of the great front men, the last of his era. Josh Homme et al are fabulous backing him up, I hope this partnership lasts.
Iggy Rules! of course. This is a great version (better than the 80s tinny recording) with a seminal backing band - what a perfect combo. I love the so-Iggy lyrics - "I was ridin' on a concrete slab, down a river of useless flab". Lyrics of existential desolation. Iggy Rules!
I found the movie - and subsequently this song - because I heard Michael Nesmith was executive producer. Now I know that it's one of the best movies ever, that Emilio Estevez can act, and that this is one of Iggy's best songs, a great little punk song by one of the greats.
FANTASTIC! Just loved the movie's opening music but didn't know who it was from even though I'd seen the Iggy Pop - Repo Man thing in the credits, I wasn't smart enough to connect the two along with ALL the other great music on the sound track. Way to go MR POP!
Well, I've been enjoying it since the film was released in 1984 - I bought the original soundtrack LP.. Has it ever been released on an Iggy Pop album?
Beyond a doubt the best band Iggy ever played with outside the stooges. Josh, sorry about your family issues, hope the kids make it thru all this ok. Stay strong brother.
Is that Josh Homme? He's overplaying the intro. The power chords should be prominent. The octaves need to take the backseat. Iggy sounds better than ever
I like his band when he had Carlos Alomar on Zombie Birdhouse. The Sales brothers were pretty good too, as was Steve Jones and James Williamson, not to mention Bowie toured in Iggys band. He's had some good backing over the years, all due respect to QOTSA
I'd rather have Clem and Nigel from Blondie with Steve Jones on guitar over these jokers any old day.. I mean they do the song well enough, based on the original version of course..
i was riding on a concrete slab, down a river of useless flab it was such a beautiful day i heard a witchdoctor say, "i'll turn you into a toadstool" i'm looking for the joke with a microscope my muscle's twitching on your words if you're on the streets you lose your nerves divinity throws you a curve sticks you and then you go beserk abhoaring no inspiration. i'm looking for the joke with a microscope page out of a comic book a chicken hanging on a hook a river and a babbling brook a sermon and a teenage hook shaking my hand at your fake face a suicide a certain look a microphone a loose guitar people feeling near and far stupidity a mental scar put cruel into cruelty as life goes by you in a blurr an achoholic has gone far everything just goes to far i was pissing on the desert sands, when the desert whispered to me, "damn! isn't this a shame? things will never be the same..." i run this gas and oasis now i'm looking for the joke with a microscope i was a teenage dinosaur, stoned and obsolete i didn't get fucked and i didn't get kissed i got so fucking dense using my head for an ashtray now i'll tell you who i am i'm the repo-man and i'm looking for the joke looking for the joke i'm looking for the joke with a microscope
Probably never in the history of American cinema has there been such a perfect marriage of film and song. Magnificent on every level
Best film soundtrack I can think of
Repo Man is so underrated is a crime. One of the greatest movie soundtracks ever. Had the whole early 80s punk scene on wax
British director.

Agreed. Fantastic soundtrack! I wore this cassette out.
Only movie that matters
the Plugz rule...Iggy backed by half the Sex Pistols. Harry Dean Stanton...King Archie! Iggys best song since the Stooges
@@DaveAnchovies and the Circle Jerks cameo
Seen the Criterion blu-ray? I've had it on VHS, DVD and now that. Still fresh!
Saw Iggy in the early 90s
The life of Iggy is always Intense

I never realized that was Jones on guitar!
Jonesy!!
dude, thats josh homme on guitar. How could it be bad?
I agree, this is great, but the original is THE BEST!!!
the best poetry is always written in the dirt

I was just thinking it's not metabolism but he probably always has worked harder x 10 than us average hard working guys.
More proof that Iggy was why the trunk was so hot! 🔥
well, hips dont lie
holy shit, josh homme on guitar!
Love that drummer...solid grooves, stays in the pocket keeps the song moving...tight.
yep, that is him.
Clem Burke??
Agreed
Fkn genius... I can’t stop twitching!
Queens of the Stone Age ??

The production on the original is awful, the demo version is better.

All facts, especially it being one of the best movies ever.

Common Sense He was too, you boys.
Well played!
Let's get a drink...
Freakin monstrous!! Best ever film.
love this song, Iggy still got it. Classic.
...one of my all-time favorite indie movies from the '80s -- love this version of the title-track with Homme and co.!
Great song I saw the movie back in 1983 and I worked as a Repo man when I was in college.
This brings me extreme joy
Iggy Pop one of the best singers in the world
i love it how this gem went under the radar for so long and it wasnt till the 2010s until there was an audience which could digest this iggy pop gem.
What??? This song has been a well-known jam since the movie was released in 84.
@@middlefingermotionpictures4772 i can assure you as a veteran iggy pop fan this tune went over looked for many years.

Keeeerist! Still pitch perfect 32 years after the fact.

Iggy looks old.
compared to who and what??? that's actually JENNIFER ANISTON singing in this video.
Iggy finally has the band he deserves.
James Williamson? have u heard Kill city? New values?
