5 year update on barrow fittings. I have used about 500 of them now and I have never had one fail me. I built project wifey computer build 5 years ago now and that build has over 50 barrow fittings in it and it is still running till this day!
That sounds very reassuring as I may end up with around 25 all Barrow fittings in total. Some of the 45 & 90 Rotatory fittings will be absolutely necessary, but a few other 45s I was thinking of using mainly for the aesthetics. Is it advisable to use less rotatory fittings? On a single D5 pump. Thanks.
@@Ben-ld1qi Rules are made to be broken. THis computer is still running today. Yes... I need to upgrade it at some point but MSI stopped making silver motherboards... Thanks for this review. Seems like Bitspower and Barrow have kept upping there games and fairly easy to get these from a number of places. A comparison of Alphacool vs EK vs Bitspower vs Barrow would be something interesting.
@@travisfader4419 Massive w honestly, I've been skeptical going for cheap fittings again after i had all the orings on my old build dry up and crumble after a year
I've been to the modmymods brick and mortar before since I live close to them. Awesome place that I usually try to support. If not ppcs and titanrig are my other go to USA watercooling stores. Next time I'm in Rochester I'll stop in and grab another coolant bottle from em when I flush my loop in 6 months. Double Protect ultra coolant as they are basically the only usa distro for it.
would have liked to have seen a grip test between the 2, while i agree looks wise the barrow fitting actually pulls ahead of bitspower, showing that it when tied down does actually hold the tube in better would have made it a much easier sell. as it is i've tried some other fittings 2 of which were involved in my only 2 leaks ever (a alphacool 90 one and a ...technically EK one as it's collar was hiding the fact that inserting the tube had loosened the fitting, i currently have 2 alphacool strait Y fittings of which 1 was perfect and in 1 i had to jam a pen to take out some copper ring that would have been a major flow restricion, fitting is fine but QA seems iffy) but of all of them bitspower has been the only one to never leak, never have a defect or what i personally think is a design flaw (looking at you old EK fittings that hide the bottom of the fitting so you can't tell if it got loose). which for me is reason enough to pay the premium and deal with there logo, cannot afford a critical leak and BP has the rep to give me enough peace of mind, price wise i hope the barrow fittings are as good or better cause this is one expensive hobby to get in to before taking fittings in to account :P had a couple friends who seriously wanted to get it, then saw the price tag on the parts list they were suddenly okay with there air cooling which tbh these days is fine from a performance and noise standpoint most of the time.
Yeah, so now to date I have used over 1000 fittings in multiple builds and over 500 barrow fittings and have never had a leak with the barrow fitting. Even project wifey that is idk how many years old now is still running with the original barrow fittings I put it. The project is on this channel so you can do the math and figure out how long that has been
Yeah I've got some 90 degree barrow fittings, and they are damn tight, not even an atom width of play in them. I've got 45 degree alphacool fittings, and I hate how loose they are, they haven't leaked but I still don't like it. Gonna upgrade system to rigid tubing with barrow fittings, the V4 design, which has 3 o-rings inside, and 1 on top.
Perfect, no problem!! Just let me know to take you to different places... I'm living in Beijing. If you like Barrows check their cpu coolers, reservoir and large ETC.... They are getting new nice stuff
im sorry, ive been building computers for a long time and i have to say something. I understand that you like the fittings but you really need to do your research. The most important part of a fitting, ANY fitting in any industrial or consumer product is the quality and tolerances of the Washer/O ring, not the steal not anything else, not the how deep the tube goes, not how many O-rings it has. It's the quality of the O-rings and how well they fit. The things the you describe that you like about the Barrow fittings are actually fail safes for their low confidence in their design. As an engineer, you generally put extra O rings on when you DONT trust your design. It's a fail safe for engineers to cover their ass in case one fails. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with that, it's a different philosophy from bitspower but it's certainly not an apples to apples comparison. Understand that it takes a tremendous amount of confidence in what you are making to build something like those multi-link bits powers fittings that have that tiny collar with just 1 o ring. There is a very good reason bitspower is the only manufacturer to have those multi-links, they are hard to make, they have the knowhow to do it properly and they charge accordingly.
correct me if im wrong, my barrow fittings have 2 o rings. and to me they both look same.. also i feel like 1 o ring keeps the tube better than 2, correct me if im wrong but that how i feel
the new barrow fittings have 2 internal o rings and another oring in the compression collar. in my experience more orings make it a lot stronger, I have to really pull the tube hard to get it out you my barrow fittings. The more orings the more surface area there for the hard it is to pull out. I have seen people not pushing there tubes in all the way with the double internal oring and that can cause the tube to feel loose and even leak. some people push the tube in pass the 1st oring and think that it is all the way in.
AFAIK, the double o-ring seals in the "stem" of the fitting, is primarely there as the fittings seal, double as a failsafe for tearing and marring one of the rings during assembly. Stronger pipe retention is a bonus. The third ring, the compression ring around the top, is the primary retention mechanism.
Like your videos. Keep them coming out. I am a fan boy of BP but when I got my first batch of Barrow fittings, they amazed me. Besides, the aesthetics, Barrow is just good enough and plus it seals better with tripple o-ring design. BP can't keep their price competitive within the budget because they still use much better material, I accidentally over-tightened a Barrow fittings... and then the G1/4'' thread part breaks on my POM top reservoir... So, I figure that why not to try the same thing on the equivalent BP fittings, then it doesn't break, like this time I really tried hard, even tighter than the first time. But I can't find a reason why anyone must to pay extra for unnecessary strength in PC watercooling.
i have a question can i buy a bitspower male to male 90 degree rotary right and mix the compression from another fitting like the style on to this fitting with no issue is that possible? plz can some 1 let me know if this is possible because im close to making the order but i want to make sure
Its quadrouple oring now on barrow, and maybe the tube goes in deeper, it goes in deep with my barrow fittings at least. No way a barrow can leak at the tube part, unless all the oring are damaged.
Is it possible to use the color on the bits-power on the barrow fitting? because I like the matte black color on the bitspower and the barrow female to female fittings are cheap as hell so I was going to buy the bitspower Matte black enchant fitting and combine it with the barrow is that possible?
barrow female to female fittings are fine. I have over 50 fittings in project wifey and still have no problems even today. you can see all the female to female fittings I used in these videos ruclips.net/video/XzN8-avQwoE/видео.html ruclips.net/video/yMNQaXLwUlQ/видео.html ruclips.net/video/fiaK1X6zUII/видео.html

Hey Travis, I'm looking at getting some fittings for a build I'm working on and wanted to go with barrow fittings. The ModMyMods page only seems to have 12mm fittings labeled v1, I was wondering if I should be looking for v3 to get the same triple o-ring design that you are showing off.
The difference is one company brought a differentiated product to market and the other cloned it. That's why I buy Bitspower for my builds, but I understand that may not be compelling enough for everyone.
Your actually 100% wrong. I just bought Barrow fittings based on your recommendation. The THKN-3/8-V3 fittings for soft tubing have the green o-ring on the G1/4' part, but do NOT have a spare, and do NOT have ANY o-ring on the flexible tubing joint. Just a screw in compression. I will probably throw my money away on more EKWB fittings :/
I say this... If ppl dont like Barrow plain and simple dont purchase them. Just like a car, if you like Chevy ...well purchase it then. To be honest it is peoples opinion what they choose. I have used myself many brands and for the price, style, looks, and comfort (all taken in consideration), i have had NO issues with Barrow fittings and i tend to lean towards them lately. So again, it is up to the person and there opinion.

Barrow is cheaper because they stole the bitspower designs. The bitspower logo shows that u bought high quality parts and ur not cheating out on your system. Barrow need a triple o-ring design because they cannot achieve a leak free fitting with only 2 o-rings like bitspower. Again, quality just doesn’t match up (you get what you pay for).
I disagree, but if you have the statistics to prove me wrong then do so. I don't think 2 oring barrow fittings would leak, why would they (unless an oring goes wrong, which could happen in any fitting). The extra orings give you a better grip on the tube and that peace of mind that the chance of a leak is miniscule. I use the quadruple oring barrow fittings now and I know the only place they could leak is where they screw in (regular hardtube fittings, not rotary or anything)
