I just learnt more about groove agent from this one video than any other series of videos. Features I didn’t even know existed. Epic tutorial. Subscribed and about to watch a lot more of your content.
Great tutorial, thanks! BTW, you can access your samples through media bay, it's easier and you can pre-listen to them without dragging them into the project.
The "course" tuning control (on the pitch page) tunes the sample by stretching it, so you can, but probably not easily to a precise BPM if that's what you're after.
@@musictechtuition thank you so much for your reply 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 I was looking to make the sound longer by stretching its really cool I found a couple a ways to make the sound shorter . Even adding and envelope on the mixer really cool but I have not figure out how can I make the sound longer . I’m using Nerve by Xfer record I usually stretch the sound or I do that in Logic sampler . Maybe it dose do it I just having figure it out . Is a powerful tool I really like it I just wish I can figure that out
Thanks - that's actually why I made the series as I realised that GA is much better than you initially think when you open it up. Steinberg seems to be good at making things that don't look great on first impression but actually are pretty cool once you get into them.
Doesn't this have an "audition" mode for importing samples with a playback drum loop running? That is one of the most useful features Ive seen in these drum sample players.
The audio needs to be in the project to put it into GA, but not afterwards, so track limits shouldn't be a problem in practice. You can drag samples from the Pool directly into GA, so you don't need them to be on a track.
Heey! In your example you have round robins and difefrent velocity layers it would sound more natural if you could load all of them into groove agent. Do you think is it possible? Kontakt can handle this.
Unfortunately not! It's something I always find frustrating... it would be OK if you could drag and drop it from anywhere and it would import it silently in the background, but alas no!
@@musictechtuition may be in the next update… Would be cool if it could split drum loops to separate elements with good quality and than quickly add pattern for the new drum set)
i'm missing sth. i have made multiple samples in sampler. yes each one can be dragged to a groove agent...exported ..but that's the problem...htey all go to a new instance of groove agent...and from there i can ..or am forced to drag them back to the first instance and then delete the track with the dead groove agent....clearly i'm doing something wrong.....can anybody advise?
As far as I know, that's the only way - export to a temporary GA instance, and then drag to the one you want, and then bin the GA. There's no way I know of to select an existing GA to export the sample to, unfortunately.
Hi Darren, I have 3 samples on a pad in groove AgentSE5 how can I remove a single sample leaving 2, right click doesn't give the option to remove a single sample, only replace, the remaining options applies to all samples on that pad, I'm sure there must be a way
If you have the main view (as seen at 8:05) with multiple samples visible above the waveform display, you can drag the sample you want to delete to another pad (on the left-hand side). Then it will be removed from the original pad, and you can delete it from where you just dragged it to. I've not found another way of doing this.
Thanks for this great video! You perfectly explained how to assign samples of different velocities to a single pad. But is it possible to assign groups of velocity samples to a pad (e.g. 5x low, 5x mid, 5x high) so that whenever i play this pad with a certain velocity, one sample of the corresponding group gets chosen randomly?
Hi. Thanks. I don't think there is in GA - there's no way to set velocity limits in the way you'd need to set it up across multiple pads, so I can't see a way of doing it.
so is there no way of listening to the samples before loading thme into groove agent? i know it works with cubase stock drum samples but can i get my own bought drumkits to work that way asswell? i just dont find answers for that online...does it have something to do with medibay? any help is highly appreciated
I'd probably import them into MediaBay (I have my entire samples library monitored by it) - then you can audition the samples reasonably quickly, and import them into the project (and then GA) reasonably easily. I think, however, that it's a big issue with GA that you can't live audition samples as easily as you should be able to do (but I'm not responsible for it!)
Hi Nick. Run the Steinberg Library Manager (which should be installed alongside any Steinberg product) and you should be able to find the location from there. On my macbook they are at /Library/Application Support/Steinberg/Content/VST Sound/
hi, how do you set the outputs of each pad when the drum kit is displayed instead of the sample?....trying to set multi outputs for the se-kits. cheers.
You have to go to 'MIXER' in the right-hand side (above the drawing of the kit), and then set the output in the top of the relevant channel in the mixer.
@@musictechtuition cool cheers, just done that, , however how do i get each drum output on seperate tracks, rahter than just in mixer?...in my old cubase 5 i could have 'multi outputs' and that would create seperate 'tracks' for each drum...cheers.
I think they are, but if you're concerned, it's probably worth getting a demo of Cubase, then you could try it out for a month and see if they're what you're after. Soundware is definitely 'horses for courses' in my opinion.
You can indeed! Hit ALT + K and the onscreen keyboard will come up. You can use left and right cursor keys to change octaves. Bear in mind that onscreen keyboard limits most keyboard shortcuts so you'll need to turn it off (using ALT + K again) to return to most keyboard functions.

I had a couple of hiccups but git it working now...

media bay doesnt see the samples
@@martinhristov4476 Yes it does. I have samples in a desktop folder and it sees them no problem.
Excellent Video
Thanks for your video! They really made a poor design choice not having an option to simply right click and load sample. Very strange.
indeed
This can't be the way drums are imported in Cubase. Waaay to many click and moves just to get 1 sound ready to program
I cannot get sounds using the presets on it why.
Hi Anthony. Sorry, I'd probably need more info to be a help - maybe if you can do a video I can take a look?

This was extremely helpful!
Thank you!
Hey there. Please could you let me know how to fill all 16 cells simultaneously with 16 one shots?
Joey :)
Thank you very much!
Superb Thank You
Say you were limited on tracks, can groove agent read off a hard drive? or do you always have to import audio into Cubase?

shift ctrl alt i doesnt work maybe use right shift control alt delete f12 prtscr insert num10 for commands next time huh??
Is it possible to drag&drom sample directly on the pad without importing audio to DAW?
