But ROTC is different especially when there are a lot of fraternities in colleges or universities. The intention is good but if the system is abuse then will it truly benefit the students? It would be great if it was similar to how Korea does it for mandatory military service but we're not capable of having such credibility to be like them.

I'm pro ROTC. It is a very good platform to train the young Filipinos discipline and prepare them for the ugly truth of war. However, I disagree with how the student here was treated. It is true he brought out topics which are far fetched and will just delay the proceedings, but he should not be ganged up by the senators like that. The senators, being our role models should bring him back to his place by teaching him how things are done in these proceedings, not shout at him and warning him. They are driving these kids away. I applaud senator Cayetano's approach. She called out the student's mistake but did not discourage him to continue to participate.

Natatawa naman ako dito. Senator is loosing his cool while the student leader keeps calm. Student made a mistake sure but it became a lecture instead of a hearing, who's wasting time now? Student leader was still in the topic by the way, he simply mentioned Sanchez to prove a point. Also, in a debate setting senators would be noted on using fallacy arguments already. Nag aral ba talaga tong mga senator natin? I'm loosing hope in the future of this country if the adults seem this dumb and prideful. You want the kids of this generation to listen to you? Listen to them first and understand why they are so frustrated about the state of your country.
Also, as someone who's taking ROTC in college myself, ROTC isn't a bad thing for as long as the government ensures that there is no hazing and abuse. But as of now I don't think the government is even that adept to implement such program with a proper system. Fix the important issues first, like education, transportation, inflation, etc. Then only then maybe ROTC can be implemented once more. I can assure you that ROTC isn't for everyone at all because we all want to serve our country differently. It's a different time now compared to your time in the past, please stick with the call of the times and stop trying to wind us all back into our history.

First, the word "triggered" is slang therefore it is informal and it is also not objective. It depends on the person who is perceiving an emotion by another individual so the word "triggered" is subjective.
Second, I can't recognize that only Senator Bato is being "triggered" in the video. The student, in the first place, made a passive aggressive which is an indirect insult from a person getting offended or hurt. In short, the student is also "triggered" and he is the first one to be "triggered".

Don’t let them attend then drop them from the roster of active cadets then declare them evaders and require them to undergo trainee instructions. During our high school days we have PMT 3 we are the last bacth then we are the first batch of CAT and the last batch of ROTC then it became CMT. We never complained of anything because we know it is our prime duties as citizens of the Philippines to at least prepare our youths not just in times of war but also during disasters and calamities. In fact, in Israel, it is not just ROTC but real Military training to both male and female abled citizens. The only people I know who are against it are the leftest/communist because they want the youth to be trained as cadres and let them fight against our soldiers.

We didn't have the needed equipment for the training. We had the obsolete Springfield rifles used on our training. It was only before what they call tactical inspection that we were shown how ti dismantle some guns like Carbine, Thompson and Garand. We were shown how to operate a Mortar, (all make believe actions), with all the theories supplied.
I believe including ROTC in college is good
But be sure, the AFP personnel in charge of the training are competent enough and there must be sufficient equipment and training materials for the training. Moreover, the officials in charge of training should not be arrogant as what we have had during our ROTC days.

Mas maganda siguro kung mandatory military service. May compensation and benefits like other
      military personnel/officer.
Kawawa nga mga reservist, masyadong discriminated ... Parang saling pusa lang sa formation.
Ang daming draftee & out of school na pwede rin nilang tawagin to undergo military service and training ...
Just like in US, Korea, Singapore and many other.
Wala sa school. nasa military training camp.
      May suweldo at benepisyo ...
Ang laki-laki ng pondo ng military at pnp.

Though the student has a point, clearly he overstepped. Wag ganun. Respect to our public officials, especially kung nsa bahay ka nila. Respect the place and the people who resides in it if you are their guest. And even if yung official ay si Bato, who is may I say, a "mockery" to the current state of Philippine elections, ibigay mo pa rin sa kanya. Tama si Sen. Pia, bawian mo nlg si kalbong taba sa labas. Sen. Bato is going too far!
    He's out of context!
Dodging the real issues and turned it into personal level!
It only showed how argument weak this Soft Rock Senator is..
