I think there is more to come with 1.20. They only just recently were able to finish the wild update because of all of the delays and issues they faced. So I think starting 1.20 was a bit slower than usual. I have high hopes that within a few weeks we will get a bigger update :)
I understand not wanting to promise a lot and add extra stress to get things done, but a majority of people went into this Live expecting at least a theme for the update and a bit more. I think there's a balance and I wish they promised at least something bigger than just mobs and new blocks for us to look forward to.
For all of you saying that this update is bad, they said that we could have impact on additional features over time before the update releases. We should take this into consideration and try to make them add all the neglected features over the years (archaeology, fletching table feature, combat update, azalea wood, desert update, badlands update, savanna update, birch forest update, fireflies, the bundle, INVENTORY UPDATE...). There is a window of opportunity here and we have to use it to best effect
It's just really hard to know what's even on the table, since we weren't even told a theme. How do we know what's to far to ask or not? I completely agree though. Now is the perfect time to add things like the losers from the votes.
In previous updates I didn't really understand it when people said that the new update looks like a mod, but I think I get it now and it looks absolutely radical
doesn’t discredit how absolutely disappointing this whole event was - no official name, barely any new features, nothing that was promised was reintroduced, and a waste of time. They shouldn’t have made a event this year, especially to have the community gather around for 2 hours, for 5 features.
I believe they said after the features that were cancelled from 1.19 and the community got angry that theyre not gonna announce features that they aren’t sure are coming to the game, so their might still be more things to come
I love how this isn’t even all there is. They said it’s going to progress over time until release with the help of the community. Can’t wait to see it all in game.
I hate how everyone is complaining about this. could easily be one of the best updates yet personally I'd love more trees and plants and seasonal changes but I'm happy with anything
yeah. even with only a few features shown, im still super hyped for this. we'll be getting a large say in this update, and though i can't say this is my favorite way of going about things (less now, more later), i still can't help but be excited.
To all the people saying this is a mid update, keep in mind that they are only releasing the features which have been absolutely confirmed. So there could be many more features which could be coming to Minecraft. Also, the updates start next week, which might mean that this update will be out sooner than the earlier update(which was out in June). This could mean that the next Minecraft live will be earlier as well. Not to mention that Mojang have been posting these large updates only recently. It completely possible they are making a number of small updates just like they did before.
I REALLY like all these things they showed, but even though they said thats not everything and they will be adding more as time goes on, I was kind of hoping for the usual update for one specific thing, like an end update. But hey, maybe thats the thing they are waiting to announce.
There is a cohesive theme, player expression. So the End doesn’t necessarily fall under that. The End needs to come in the future, as a lot of the aspects of the game are lacking rn
Just a suggestion for Minecraft, I feel like the concept art for the updated birch forest would be perfect for the addition for the sniffer. This is a suggestion I hope you will read this and bye. :)
i saw someone comment this on another youtube vid and i agree, it would be so awesome if they would add somewhat of a lively update like mainly seasons and weather where like the leaves change, wind changes, sun strength changes, which would kind of make up for the lack of shaders we get in the game
@Eh? 一人一 it doesn't need to behave realistically in every detail. There are two ways of this working I could see, a new difficulty, or just having it as a cosmetic thing. The texture on leaves will change from green, to orange and possible the texture could become less with one or two leaves with mainly stick showing. Water doesn't need to realistically ice, just have snow fall like it usually does. Grass could have leaves on it near tress etc.
Ngl this update had so much potential for things like the archeology update or the end update and yet all we are getting is a camel, rafts and a few other small things
i was hoping for an update that improves the end but idk because the theme of the update is "to enable self expression through representation" which does not tie with the end but there is still hope in! i hope the mojang team will add more things into Minecraft that are really fitting and really amazing that makes people more creative and enjoy the game even more!
FINALLY, Dungeons having a way to swap enchantments makes the game 100 times better now, I'll get back on in that game, and 1.20 seems odd, but I'll wait
Here's the problem with this update. This is valid criticism and I truly care about Minecraft. Been a fan for 8 years. It goes against fan expectations. Minecraft fans expected an update on either much needed features such as Inventory Update to help with the multitude of items players collect. Fans were expecting another Dimension update because of what looks like a portal in the ancient city. The archaeology update seems to have been abandoned too because the devs said they would only show fleshed out features. Archaeology Update!! *20 minutes later* Archaeology Update??? NOPE. Fans wanted to also see a Structure Update to flesh the structures in the game or an update that would add previously hinted features in previous Minecraft live streams or updates. They didn't even mention the combat update 2.0 also. Why are these features taking so long to develop? Never mind the question. Mojang clearly wasn't aware of these expectations or it was too much work for them to handle. Solution for that, just get the work done, no matter how much it requires. NOPE. Forget all about that. Let's focus on newer and smaller things that barely add anything to the game compared to previous updates that fixes none of the problems and goes against fan expectations. The problem is there's demand for these kind of updates because they are what the fans want and they fix certain problems that Minecraft has. There's too much items in the game right now and this is the time to make ui changes, item stack changes and more storage items to help with storage. Mojang thought that by going with a smaller update would lower fans expectations. No, you just disappointed a thousands of fans who were expecting certain things that add to the game and fix problems with an Inventory, Dimension, Archaeology, Structure Update and Combat Update 2.0. These are more important updates Mojang and you didn't deliver. Mojang, you tried to fix the expectations for your game and failed massively. Mojang, you learned nothing from the controversy about how much time the previous updates took to make. You kept on announcing features and then either kept setting them back or removing them and even not working on them anymore such as the Bundles and Fletching Table. You have hundreds of employees and you can only show 3 middling features and the Camel.(which actually brings something new and original as well as new ridable mob, the only feature I was impressed with) This presentation for 1.20 doesn't benefit the game in an impressive way. Let this valid criticism be a motivator for you all. I hope this presentation for 1.20 isn't a sign of things to come. I hope this update can meet my expectations. You will lose a long time fan if you don't I want the best for the game. This is a setback if the other features of the update are as middling or disappointing. 1.20 is a disappointment so far. You don't go from big updates to small/unexpected updates because you are only going to disappoint people because it didn't meet their expectations. It's that simple and I hope everybody at Mojang reads this comment. Thank you for reading all of this. It might not sound like it but this message is made because I care about Minecraft. Someone doesn't make a 4 paragraph comment without truly caring about something.
Please bear in mind they don’t want to overpromise due to the 1.19 drama AND they said there’s gonna be a lot more coming AND they’re only showing what’s been developed enough to release to the public in the coming days
Yeah, but what was the point of hyping up this entire event and making us sit through 2 hours of ads just for them to show a few tiny features of an update. I get that they don't want to overpromise, but they shouldn't ONLY announce the features that have already been completed
@@businesscactus think about it. The worst thing you can do as a huge company is to say that your historically huge event is going to be smaller than usual and decrease it’s audience. They’ll make up for it with the new approach of community involvement and kept promises, just wait.

I’m both glad and mad that they didn’t announce very much. I feel like it’d be cooler if you get to explore the updates yourself, like they did this year. On the other hand, I kind of don’t know what they meant by “expressing” and literally no name on the update, which is kind of annoying, because now I don’t know if the update will be based around adventure, building or both. Personally, I don’t care about building, I think it’s more fun to explore.

We are excited to see this update come out! We are so grateful that you put all of your effort into creating all of this stuff for us! Lots of love!❤️
Big fan of the features announced, although admittedly there weren’t too many. It’ll be interesting to see how this new update approach will work out I’m still holding out for archeology in this update. Think it would fit well with some of the features announced like the sniffer, bookshelves, and camels.
Feeling mutual. I'm surprised they didn't even hint at archaeology in the livestream. Thought they were gonna do that given that today's the international archeology day. Happy with what they've shown regardless and excited for more.
It’s a smart decision overall, to not show everything. To only show features that have extensive work on them. So they won’t repeat what they did in the previous minecon live. They won’t be break promises, like the bundle, or fireflies. And with them announcing update features along the year, it increases the hype for what’s to come.
It seems like a smart decision on paper, but way too many people are missing the point and for some reason think that only four features are being added despite Mojang being quite clear that they would reveal more as time goes on.
I'm looking at the bigger picture here. Mojang for years has revealed updates and never disappointed. Then all of a sudden a firefly was too much to add? The virus is barely a thing now, so I mean what happened? Why the drop in productivity?
@@sillydave5544 You may not have heard of this, but 2 years ago they decided to double the size of the worlds, in both vertical directions, in addition to adding a bunch of other sought-after features. If you think that's an easy task, then you would've made a bigger mistake than what they did. They thought they could accomplish it in just half a year, which obviously they couldn't, so they split it into 4 updates, only 3 of which have come so far. Basically, they announced some huge features that they had only made very simple prototypes of at the time, and got huge backlash for trying to finish those feaures. Now they've learned from it and decided to only announce what they're almost done with, so we don't get disappointed and they get to surprise us with even more later on.
@@johnsurprise5708 a bit pessimistic but I see your point. Minecraft is going strong enough that there is a virtual guarantee of a new dimension at some point, probably via the deep dark portal within five years. And when they do a new dimension, they’ll have learned from the cave update on how to better approach it. I wouldn’t worry about it until it’s announced.
@@XIN3OHd the problem is the fact that to them one little biome at a time with one or 2 new things added to the game seems to be hard for them. And everything has to be real for some reason. Just give us fantasy stuff and stuff we can actually use not passive useless mobs and maybe one new block
I thought this update is gonna be the Biome update or the Arctic Update for Minecraft Vanilla but nah, just random update, it was quite disappointed for me
I don’t think people really understand what they said. They said they didn’t want to overpromise and underdeliver. So instead of telling us they are adding 4 new mobs and 2 new biomes along with updates to the end and stuff, they are just giving us a brief glimpse at things that will 100% be in the update. These things will be playable in a few days. So they are most definitely working on much more that will be added to the update. Maybe nothing like a whole new biome, but definitely more.
@@casecao8412 Bro cut the pessimism. That would make this the second smallest major release ever, only ahead of the Frostburn Update. Your frustration doesn’t give you the excuse to be intentionally misleading. Also use your ears. If these features are snapshot ready now, there are others that are in development. Use your brain if you have one and don’t actively mislead people.
Realistically we would rather get much bigger update every 6 months than have random games like Dungeons and Legends. They are cool ideas but no one plays them. So many things need updating such as Badlands, Deserts, Meadows, The End, Generated Structures, Enchantments, etc. They could also add a use for fletching tables, making it possible to craft tipped arrows without dragon breathe (expensively) for early game use.
They literally said they were only showing off features that were far into development meaning there are probably many more features that are planned/started that just were not shown.

Im not gonna make any for sure judgements cause they said that they plan to add a lot more features. But hopefully the consult the community first. They also need a theme, hopefully an update that is applicable to new players. The past few updates have only really been useful to endgame players.
I guess I'm happy with the camels, bookshelves, and signs. However, this year just seem like a letdown compared to the past 5 years of minecraft. We hoped for an end update, perhaps a warm biome overhaul, or at the least, archeology. Maybe it's coming but what's the use of hype if they don't announce what they're hyped about. I get that they got a lot of backlash about the fireflies but isn't the point of minecraft live to announce updates? Idk, just kind of disappointed, hoping there's more to come.
A desert update would be cool. Camels, more cacti, scorpions and maybe a new pyramid structure. The pyramid could be indestructible (so it isn’t cheesed) and full of traps, puzzles and mummies. At the end of the pyramid you could find a treasure room with gold, diamond, lapiz and rarely a new scarab jewel. The scarab jewel is used to make a Scarb Shield that has higher durability then a regular shield and automatic fire resistance or something.
Currently it seems that 1.20 has a few additions, I hope there are other additions that have not been announced in the live! But the additions that we saw were very beautiful, especially Sighns edit : Congratulations SNIFFER
I love those new bookshelves! I have tons of enchanted books that clutter up my storage so these can really help! Also, the camel is just plain ADORABLE.
I think it's hilarious how that, in their attempt to only showcase features that will absolutely make it into the update, they revealed how little content we're actually getting 😂
I mean it might not necessarily be the case. Many ideas that get put through testing probably do make it through but there is still no telling of how certain it is if they would. There could be a list of 20 features being tried and tested and 19 of them make it through, but if the one that gets scrapped could be any one of those 20, then none of them can be shown for certain, because even if you are 99% sure, there is the possibility one gets scrapped and then the fanbase complains about "false promises".
This update is only in its early snapshot releases. Don't say this update is underwhelming till it comes out in a few months. We have a new mob, a new wood type that basically introduces another wood type with the mosaic version of it. New signs that look great and bookshelves with actual uses. The raft, even though its very a small addition, can actually be really cool in bases or builds that are like deserted islands.
Not to say I'm not excited for legends, which I am. I'm just annoyed that there is barely any new features announced for Minecraft, the main game, in an event called Minecraft live.
Super enjoyed attending the Minecraft live! Can’t wait to see all that 1.20 has in store!! Let’s go team Sniffer!!! And lots of love to the Minecraft team!
I really think Minecraft would benefit from an entirely new biome that can only spawn in the deserts, something like an oasis, you could find most desert animals near an oasis and the villages would be built around the oasis like in real life. This isn't a priority but I think it would add a bit more life into the game

There is a cohesive theme, player expression. So the End doesn’t necessarily fall under that. The End needs to come in the future, as a lot of the aspects of the game are lacking rn

We have a lot of old blocks that could use a purpose. I'm glad to see cactus and bamboo getting a new use.
i saw someone comment this on another youtube vid and i agree, it would be so awesome if they would add somewhat of a lively update like mainly seasons and weather where like the leaves change, wind changes, sun strength changes, which would kind of make up for the lack of shaders we get in the game
true we need seasons and weather
we need a new biome that has seasons as it's main component
Mojang gonna be work so hard for this and then people gonna complain about it for being broken feature. 💀

Based?
You have hundreds of employees and you can only show 3 middling features and the Camel.(which actually brings something new and original as well as new ridable mob, the only feature I was impressed with)
This presentation for 1.20 doesn't benefit the game in an impressive way.

@@sillydave5544 the fireflies is being removed cause when frog eat fireflies in real life they gets poison so they just removed it entirely
@@sillydave5544 I have no clue what’s up with mojang, it’s a multi-million dollar company that can only update once a year.
Seems small but excited for what’s to come. Themed updates will also be nice going forward.
It seems like they want us to guide where the update should go, I really hope this turns into an actual themed update.
I really hope that they add a new dimension at some point to vanilla Minecraft
Unlikely they are keen on adding one tiny update at a time. A big update like that would take like 15 parts spread over 2 years knowing them
Most probably
But not in this update!
I would rather want them to flesh out The End and other parts of the game like structures first
@@XIN3OHd the problem is the fact that to them one little biome at a time with one or 2 new things added to the game seems to be hard for them.
Maybe nothing like a whole new biome, but definitely more.
precisely this
Prepare to be massively disappointed if you think we're gonna get anywhere that amount. What we've been shown is probably 90% of the full update..
I really hope there is a lot more to this update when it comes out. This is extremely small compared to the others especially hitting a big milestone

Super enjoyed attending the Minecraft live! Can’t wait to see all that 1.20 has in store!! Let’s go team Sniffer!!! And lots of love to the Minecraft team!
same, It was the first time I attended, (I watched it in an airport 🤣😅)
I'm really sorry... but do we really need more boats?
I really think Minecraft would benefit from an entirely new biome that can only spawn in the deserts, something like an oasis, you could find most desert animals near an oasis and the villages would be built around the oasis like in real life. This isn't a priority but I think it would add a bit more life into the game
Looking forward to it, love the new blocks!
It's a most valuable update in the history of all games.
I don’t care what other people are gonnna say I’ve never felt so personally attacked over an update after watching this your telling me that we didn’t even get the bundles or the other stuff you’ve announced I’m just ready to play hytale if things continue like this
this isnt the whole update...
Finally for 12 years you got us what we wanted
🎉Welcome to The Disappointment Update!!🎉
They'll add more features as the update progresses.
@@JoonaVirtanen2378 r/woooosh
an update that was supposed to be huge got so small, smaller than 1.19, I hope more stuff comes...
We received small things. The biggest thing in this update was the sniffer and the camel, nothing that changes much in your gameplay
If you listened to what they said, they only announced features that were ready.
they said this is just the confirmed stuff, more stuff coming, and quite soon, so people don't get angry over concept art again
Not the most exciting but massive props for only showing stuff that is mostly complete. It avoids the let down of last year (even if the firefly issue is pretty easy to resolve)
finally, someone who gets it and isn't all "mOjAnG TiNy UpDaTe TeRRiBLE"
@@MuzikBike Because everyone was more focused on spamming in chat.
@@wantedbird55srandomchannel28 can't say I'm surprised
@@MuzikBike The people who say that the update is terrible are probably kids who completely ignored their message of showing what is already certain. If not that, then they probably forgot they said that entirely
these are some awesome stuff and lots to come I see (well at least smth to start inspiration).
First time since forever when im not super hyped and excited about the new update.. feels.. kinda weird tbh lol. Obviously im counting on more stuff in the future but ye, as of now Im kinda disappointed. But ye, we will see what future brings
me too, they couldve at least given a theme or smth. All the features seem so random
I dont even know how to describe it...... I had higher expectations BRUH everyone had
They literally stalled so hard during the show. Whenever Agnes was prompted to describe the update, she'd just go on a speech about diversity and importance of community.
Would it be that hard to add fireflies but just don't make frogs eat them?
All update highlights we’ve been waiting for half a year in just 30 seconds. Great job, mojang!
Cynics like you are why mojang didn’t show more. Let me guess you were distraught about the birch forests? Grow up you won’t always get everything you want
