I knew this one would blow you away, especially when Avi came in with those low notes. But I knew you were going to be shocked when Tim came in with that (as Ben Stills From the Sing-Offf called it) HOLY S**T note at the end, a note that he holds so effortlessy, btw. And of course you proved me right. ;) But did you not hear Tim hit those high notes just before that? Yep, he was showing off just part of his 5 octave vocal range, in one short chord. BTW- just a little tid-bit to add, Tim and Avi are close friends, and it was Tim who taught Avi how to hit those low notes you just heard. Thanks! I can't wait to see what you choose next.
5:35 "I've been fried!" - You said it all! Looking forward to when you watch their journey on "Then Sing Off!" Watch them individually please. There is a "mashup" of all the performances, but you would miss the intros & judges comments. That is where you learn their individual personalities, backgrounds and talents.
Just love your reaction to this video, especially Tim's last note. I still am in awe after listening to them for over 3 years. Welcome to the Home Fry world.
House Party, Summer in the Country, Thinking Out Loud/Let's Get it On, Castle on the Hill... I keep thinking of new ones that should be put on the "to react to list" and then realize that everything should be there. We'll have to get you your "I'm a Home Free addict and if there's a cure I don't want it! " badge/sign. One of these days I'm going to put that on a tee-shirt. LOL Thanks, can't wait to see whats next!
Avi Kaplan was the bass in PTX and left to do his own thing, about the same time that Chris Rupp(baritone w/ cowboy hat) from Home Free left. It was hard for many fans of both groups. Home Free's cover of "Blue Ain't Your Color" please please!
Thanks Sam!! Welcome to the Home Free train! LOL You are officially Fried..... once you get through the Sing Off Season 4 videos... you only have over 100 to go... then there are the live ones... and Story times with Tim.. Bloopers... Hope you have a couple years set up.. LMAO!! Look forward to what you pick next.
The last bass note is G0 it is the first, and lowest G on a piano keyboard. I played that G after hearing Tim sing it and my mind was completely blown!
I knew you would love this video and especially the last low bass note by Tim Foust. He has an amazing range. In concert, they really play up his lower range. When he hits a very low note, the sound engineer turns up the gain on Tim's mic, and the sound actually vibrates the whole auditorium! You feel like you're sitting through a mini earthquake! As you say, Majorgaling!
I totally agree about the headphones. These reactors that don't use them are not getting the total effect of A Cappella. You HAVE to hear the bass, you HAVE to hear the beatboxer. Without headphones, you miss so much.
I'm also new to Home Free, and I literally can't get enough of them! Not only do they sing beautifully, they have such warmth and friendliness exuding from them. And I'm new to Avi Kaplan, too. He has a beautiful haunting voice that's both manly and gentle.
You are a home fry now sam, your expression on your face,is that of a home fry,so welocome to the world of home fries.they do so much good stuff, lots of covers. your right about the headphones.your missing stuff without them. Keep going sam
This is my favorite song from Home Free as it takes their amazing vocals and throws in Avi from Pentatonix (my absolute favorite acapella group). You mix that together and you get this amazing sound! Love it! Thanks for sharing your reactions.
Thank you for the Home Free reactions!! Love watching your expressions - reminds me of when I first listened to them. 😉. I just subbed to your channel so please keep reacting to Home Free. Would love to see you react to their covers of Seven Bridges Road, Elvira, Thinking Out Loud/Lets Get It On, What We Ain’t Got just for starters. FYI - their beatboxer is a freak of nature & totally amazing. Can’t wait to see more Home Free!! Thanks again for the reactions!!
I like Ring of Fire by Johnny Cash. But I LOVE Ring of Fire by Home Free. I love Tim's voice but Avi Kaplan has one of best bass voice's I've ever heard. :)
Loved your reaction.. You are definitely a Home Fry... At the end of the video, the guys usually do some talking about the video.. It's always interesting to me..
Another really wonderful reaction. Thanks! I, too, grew up both hearing and singing in a cappella groups. Our whole family is musical, with my mom being our "ringleader" through the years. She was a fantastic violinist. If you've ever heard Shoji Tobuchi ( ruclips.net/video/yHZVYDpFi5M/видео.html ) you could say you heard my mom...seriously...she and Shoji corresponded for several years after she first heard him play, since he was playing a style that was fairly new to her (bluegrass). She always called herself a "fiddler player," not a violinist, and in her later years (until she was 83), she really did mainly that style, though she could have gone just about anywhere (and did, a lot) and play just about anything (she did). When Shoji opened the Branson theatre, he invited her to come (free) to hear him perform. She went to a Christmas show with a group of people from her church, over here in South Dakota (I wasn't living here, then, but I am, now). From the moment she came through the door, he showered her with honor! She was totally taken by surprise! The whole group got special seating, and after they were seated, the special dancers went through their aisle, and each one brought Mom a single red rose. She had once shared with him that my father always had given her one for every anniversary, up until the year he passed away (at age 54). They also called her onto the stage during the intermission, where he introduced her as one of his mentors! Then he gave her all of the merchandise she wanted, totally free...she was overwhelmed, and chose simply two CDs (which I now have, since she passed away four summers ago). Anyway...she made sure all of us (four) kids learned music in many different ways. We all sang (lots of choir and theatre performances, plus as a teenager growing up in Valdez, Alaska, three friends and I had our own folksinging group), and we all played instruments (for me, piano, accordion, autoharp, guitar, and cornet). Music...so very, very important to me...and Home Free does it so WELL!!! ;-) Oh, just WAIT until you hear this one in concert (it's one they still do, always--Chance does Avi's part)!!! It is SO fantastic...you literally will shake in your seat...FOR REAL! Tim has actually made roof tiles fall! :-D So glad you are hooked! I did link what I consider one of the best drum solo videos for you, in my comment for "How Great Thou Art," but it sounds as if you already are going to find one. I would always recommend Heidi Rancour's "home movies" of them. she does a pretty great job of capturing each and every song in every concert she attends, and she attends MANY. :-)
Do yourself a favor and watch Home Free’s videos all the way to the end. They will tell you thanks for watching & you get a mini preview of another video. The really new ones don’t have that. I’m a new subscriber, please keep reacting to Home Free and I’ll stay. So many other reactors start up on Home Free & then forget about them for weeks. Please don’t, you will have plenty to watch. Tim is the bass, Austin is the high tenor (with reddish hair & beard), Rob is the lead tenor (glasses & long beard), Chance is baritone & can do bass also (brown hair & shorter beard. He replace the group founder, Chris Rupp, who went solo 5/2016). Adam Rupp (Chris’s brother) is the world class & award winning beatboxer. Just a bit of info so you know the guy’s names. You are on your way to becoming a “Home Fry”! Enjoyed your reactions as much as you enjoyed the videos! Thanks!! 🤗
Mahalo much for subscribing! Oh trust me! Home Free has found a home in my heart! These guys are good! I do have to say that I will be making my rounds with other artists and stuff, but yes, I will remember to come back and review another one👍🏻🤙🏼
Love your reactions Bruddah Sam. You appreciate all kinds of music. Check out Voice Play’s cover of the “Oogie Boogie Song” from Nightmare Before Christmas. The bass has an incredible range (almost 5 octaves in this one song)!!
I was hoping to see your reaction to this song. Your pure joy of great music from Home Free is priceless! Welcome to the Home Fries Ohana! Lol! You've fallen into a beautiful rabbit hole !! Lol !! Watching you from Kansas!
Please your reaction to UNCHAINED MELODY / Righteous Bros (Bobby Hatfield). The man and the mic, none of the current day mixing, loops, play overs or whatever it is called. Voice of velvet!!!!
At the end there Avi swaps his beanie hat for a cowboy hat... If you didn't know he left Pentatonix.. Maybe he has a new home now... Jonny Cash song.. they did an amazing job.
They had me with their first performance on Season 5 of the Sing Off. You should check those out, in performance order, on RUclips. I’ve been a Home Fry since.
Love Home Free, but react to Pentatonix, it'll be your favorite thing to react to! The new bass you saw here is Pentatonix's bass, Avi Kaplan. La La Latch, Hallelujah, Royals, Say Something, Havana. I think a lot of people get laser focus with Avi being on it (which he's great, love him). But, sometimes I feel the audience from live performances get so loud, that it can be hard to pay attention to the low, low notes or the more delicate parts of songs. I enjoy both versions of this song.
@@firesoftheasylum7890 true in many cases, but in this case, the crowd from the show was very respectful and not too loud, you can definitely pick up all the notes. So many focus on Avi being in this one (many because they are Pentatonix fans and therefore this is automatically the best version ever) but if you listen to both back to back, he does change the dynamic of the song quite a bit. That being said, I like both versions, I just prefer the non Avi version.
@@robleffler6584 I agree. I really like both voices being here, but Avi is a variable that can be good or bad, as with any guest performer.
