I always liked this. To me, this feels like Shadow is now in a much better place than he was during the events of the game. He's now just training to make sure he stays sharp, but literally _everyone_ is cheering him on and encouraging him to keep going. I like to think that on some level, Shadow appreciates this, and deep down, accepts the fact that these people are his friends...with the obvious exception of Devil Doom. And maybe the deceased Robotniks just being hallucinations.
According to Sonic '06(and, in some way, Sonic Forces and its comics), Shadow becomes a G.U.N. Agent after ShTH. Regarding the deceased, pretty sure they're either hallucinations or some kind of recordind used to cheer him up(with the exception of Black Doom. This one, i'd like to think that it is actually Devil's Eye talking, since there's a Twitter Takeover in which Shadow says he's been hanging out with It)

In Lava Shelter when Omega interrupted Rouge, I legit thought the game glitched out and cancelled out her dialogue, so I purposely lost a life. But then Rouge lashed out at Omega, but by the time she did that, it was already too late. Sheesh.

If this game wasn't so badly received/designed and the mode itself so difficult to unlock, more people would've been able to see the hilarious dialogue here. That damn 4th Chaos Emerald and the Computer Room don't hold a candle to the Air Fleet, Space Gadget and Final Haunt dialogue.
I am sorry, but I think people just do not understand that not everything is about level design and edgy mood. I think they should cope with the game, it is easy once you figure out how to use or not use certain controls and weapons. Anyways, I think the expert mode is hard to unlock, it takes some time. I deleted the game and I do not have a motivation to complete it again just to play the expert mode, and I am really good at it. That is how difficult it is to unlock it.

Both Sonic Heroes and Shadow the Hedgehog have a harder mode that is a marathon of all the levels, in both cases you unlock them by getting all A ranks.
So there's several problems with any attempt to make this "canon compliant": First, Maria is here. Not a big issue on its own (time travel opens up a way to save her), but it does make things more difficult. Second, Doom is here. One question: how? Didn't we kill him before this training supposedly occurs? I guess he _could_ be rendered an impotent voice in Shadow's head, but... Third, Gerald is here. Unlike Maria, his exact moment of death had witnesses, so saving him would be... basically impossible. Fourth, The President is still planning the reconstruction. This means it has to happen rather soon after the main game, but... in-universe time travel was not discovered until after Shadow had been a GUN agent for a while, and that assumes anyone remembers _anything_ from before the '06 reset! This makes Maria's inclusion far more difficult, and Gerald's... downright impossible, rather than just _practically._ I _could_ potentially use _out_ of universe time travel to make things more likely (crossover with Mario, which has a time machine of its own), but even then that's a very small timeframe to get the rescue idea, plan it, implement it, AND allow Maria enough time to recover from what would normally be a fatal wound AND her NIDS (also they'd need time to figure out how to cure NIDS in the likely case they hadn't already).
Nobody said this is supposed to be canon compliant. There are certainly moments that can easily be seen to be canon (such as the Commander's apology and Shadow doing training to make himself stronger), but overall this is done more like a 'post-show'/'backstage' kinda thing, like what you might see at a theatre after the main performance. The actors come out, still in costume and still playing their characters, and do various performances, some that compliment the main performance and some that break the fourth wall. The last hint dialogue in particular feels like it's the developers congratulating the player on making it so far and encouraging them to go just that little bit further, as well as thanking the player, using the characters.

So how about this: this is a virtual training, in which Eggman hacks into, Gerald and Maria are mere recordings/deepfakes to cheer Shadow up, and Doom here its actually the surviving Doom's Eye(which, according to one of the Twitter Takeovers, is still around and friendly to Shadow)
Much like the story mode endings, the truth is kinda scattered with this mode. If you took out some of the simulated voices for a more canon setup, this is just Shadow training for G.U.N. which makes sense given 06.

It depends on the stage. Mad Matrix and Cosmic Fall are PAINFUL to play, and Circus Park if you don't use Chaos Control in the right place.

There are certainly moments that can easily be seen to be canon (such as the Commander's apology and Shadow doing training to make himself stronger), but overall this is done more like a 'post-show'/'backstage' kinda thing, like what you might see at a theatre after the main performance. The actors come out, still in costume and still playing their characters, and do various performances, some that compliment the main performance and some that break the fourth wall.
The last hint dialogue in particular feels like it's the developers congratulating the player on making it so far and encouraging them to go just that little bit further, as well as thanking the player, using the characters.
@@Someguyhere111 I mean, I _get_ that, but you're talking to a guy that once tried to explain away _everything_ in his favorite games, down to the tiniest plot hole and fourth wall break. You'd be surprised how close I could get.
So how about this: this is a virtual training, in which Eggman hacks into, Gerald and Maria are mere recordings/deepfakes to cheer Shadow up, and Doom here its actually the surviving Doom's Eye(which, according to one of the Twitter Takeovers, is still around and friendly to Shadow)
Much like the story mode endings, the truth is kinda scattered with this mode. If you took out some of the simulated voices for a more canon setup, this is just Shadow training for G.U.N. which makes sense given 06.

Amy, Cream and Cheese were not. They were expressing support just as much as Cream was being grateful to him after Hero Mission in the Cryptic Casttle.
Idk I didn't mind Eggman. And Black Doom's voice sounds like they blended 2 different voice actor's voices together.
