I love the way you setup that waypoint mission...it seems so much easier than manually going and adjusting each one...I will have to give that a try...Nice video.
+Scuba Yes sir, thank you! I need to do a new vid since they updated Litchi. My phantom is currently being fixed for stress cracks.. Should be returned within a week or two.
Terrific video! I've just started to use Litchi and I love it, but any tips I can get are extremely useful. The way you showed how to use "draw" to set up a Waypoint mission was brilliant ... I didn't realise you could do that! Thanks mate ... and some fabulous footage there too! More please!
This looks amazing. One way missions, autonomous flight, driving off and connecting back later... I feel like a teenager again, all these new possibilities. When I look at the shape that manual flights make I am sometimes a bit embarrassed. Litchi can enable much smoother flight paths. I suppose when the sun is low in the sky if you don't plan for it you might miss the best opportunities. Have you flown any missions just to draw a particular shape? I had thought about flying a "bone" shaped flight around two points of interest separated by a substantial distance, two wide almost complete orbits linked by two parallel straight legs could look a bit like a bone. Figures of eight are an obvious flight path around two adjacent points of interest.
Not to draw a particular shape, just to cover specific areas. I use Litchi now for keeping my commercial flights 100% legal. Litchi is an awesome tool with many different uses
William Ball it had connection with the remote during the entire flight. It isn't required but it does help. Check out my "Litchi signal lost" vid and you'll see what happens when there's no connection... The gimbal locks up at one position and holds it in that position until it reconnects with the remote. It flies just fine without it, just don't have the good gimbal movements.
Very nice video, well explained how Litchi app works for DJI Drones. Quick question, when you fly Waypoints mission with Litchi app, does the telemetry data / flight data show on the live video feed from the drone? If yes then is there a way to get rid of it? Thanks in advance. Keep up the good work!
Wandering... While you where driving with your truck to the destination... What happens if you loose communication from RC to Drone? Does the litchi mission continues regardless of signals? Thanks for the video really nice.
Ing Zimmerman It never lost communication.. If it does lose signal it will continue the mission and execute the end action. After that, if the signal is still lost it will go into RTH or whatever you have the lost signal setting set at. Watch my "Litchi Signal Lost" video, it demonstrates everything you're asking (i think). Let me know if you have anymore questions
great video. I have watched some videos about litchi and some people say when the RC is out of range of the phantom the video stops recording is this right?
+john rambo Maybe if you have the "auto record" setting turned on but I don't use that feature so I'm not too sure. Watch my Litchi signal lost video, the RC is completely off but it records the entire time.
Shoot, I'd probably get lost going from takeoff to landing point! 😀 I could see an application when your flight was so long you wouldn't have enough battery to return. Watched some other of your videos. All very nice.
Great video. I'm new to the app (just got it, haven't flown with it yet). If I am not on my starting waypoint when I start my missing, will it fly to that location to start? Or will I need to place it there? Also - when I play my mission, do I already need to be flying, or will it take off and go up to a certain altitude then move to waypoint 1 to start?
Cody Aldinger Yes, it will fly to the first waypoint but keep in mind it will do so at the speed you set the mission at. I like to fly the drone near the first waypoint so it doesn't have to travel far to get there. Not sure if there's an auto-takeoff on waypoint missions.. I always takeoff manually.
+John Tarvin well it's like I said in the video... If you're on a rural road and want to film a few miles of it by yourself this would be the way to do it. You don't have to worry about flying it back to the takeoff point or worry about it returning to home because of signal loss, just takeoff, press the record button, start the mission and meet up with it at the last waypoint. I know it looks pointless doing it over this short of a distance, I just did that as a proof of concept. Another cool application of this would be to fly from one end of a small town to another without worry.
So, here is a question. Could we use "waypoint actions" as a workaround to focus poi by using the "camera tilt" action to specify what angle of elevation we want to look at? Or do "waypoint actions" not work either unless there is control connection?
C. Dave Pappas I'm not sure if it would work or not. You'd think it would be programmed in with the flight path and waypoints but since gimbal pitch is affected by no signal situations, it might do the same thing. If you have a safe place to test it, give it a whirl and post your results.
I am being told by Litchi that it will in fact work but, the tilt will not change gradually from one waypoint to the next. So, first waypoint will look at my set elevation and will stay there until it gets to the next waypoint and then it will adjust to that waypoints set elevation, and so on. Kind of restricting as you cannot use curved turns and you won't have smooth elevation changes between waypoints, but it is somewhat of a workaround I guess. Litchi blames this on the DJI firmware. They said the firmware does not allow for elevation changes without a controller connection because the controller needs to make the elevation changes, not the bird itself. I will test this workaround hopefully later today and see if it works, and how well, or not.
Uniqcorn Yes I use a standard. This is why Litchi is so awesome... It uploads the entire flight plan with gimbal pitch plans to the phantom. It runs the flight off the plans uploaded to the phantom and it's own GPS. That said you could actually start the waypoint mission, turn your controller and mobile device off and it will film/fly all on its own.
Uniqcorn I'm in the process of making a series of videos covering all the functions of the Litchi app. I'll go ahead and make a special video on how Litchi copes with total signal loss during waypoint missions. Go ahead and subscribe that way you'll see when I post it. Thanks for watching and thanks for giving me the idea to make a vid on this subject!
How do you choose that font? In LITCHI? Also would be would be sick if you colab with some of those freestyle drone guys on YT.... Looks like you have an amazing place to fly!!!!!!!! SOOOO JEALOUS!!!
So once the mission is uploaded to the quad, can you start and shut off the radio during its flight then power it back on at the finish point to regain control? In other words, is the controller necessary during its programmed flight?
+Dan Holland Its not 100% necessary during waypoint missions but you should always keep it on during any flight in case of an emergency. Like I said in the video, this was low and over my property and I was just showing that you shouldn't freak out if the connection is lost during a waypoint flight. Also, gimbal pitch is affected by the lost connection so it's not ideal to do if you want good footage. The Phantom transmitter battery lasts quite a while so there's really no reason to turn it off during waypoint flights.
Hi, I'm trying to fly a one-way 26,000ft mission with a land ending. Is this possible ? Every time I try I get a message saying the way points are too far apart even though I have added 15-20 way points
Richard Jones ok, download the Apple version of the Litchi user manual from their website. I've never used Litchi on an Apple device. Sorry I couldn't be more help to you.
Excellent tutorial. Clear, paced, understandable and a great video to watch. Thanks.
Zuidey thank you for the comment
Nicely done man and well explained. Thx from Oz
Love the Dark Wave Music
Luv the launch, your there, and the landing, your there!!!! That's a first for me!! Your rocknit!! Creative, watch out for the FEDS!!!!😀

+Bill Rose thanks for the feedback! I'll be posting a new Litchi video soon (might be later today if the rain stops)
Man i just love this video it's one of the best waypoint videos because of your video I bought the app thanks for the great info
Steven Elliott thank you for the comment, if you have any questions feel free to ask. Fly safe!

Durning the mission can use remot control to high speed or get drone to land
Really good review. Slow and not rushed and very detailed. Thanks man
Nick Ross No problem. If you have any questions feel free to ask.
Awesome video footage of the area lakes
jchrism8 thanks man
Wow totally cool I didn't even know this app existed and I would love to use it.
wow I'm impressed really nice video thank you for all your information it's very useful for me
Just got Litchi thanks for the tips
Chris M Be safe out there! If you have any questions feel free to ask.
I like the Litchi mission. I can see that you don't like the line of sight rule like me. Happy droning!😀
I see that you leave in the white truck. Does the quad need no connection to the controller to fly the mission?
William Ball it had connection with the remote during the entire flight. It isn't required but it does help. Thank you Sir! Appreciate it. So you had the remote in the truck with you and it was hooked up the whole time.
William Ball yes
Great video -very well done, and informative. I don't know what state you live in, but it's beautiful.

ZNoble Hi. I did go watch Litchi Signal Lost and it did answer all of my questions. Thanks again. A new subscriber.
Ing Zimmerman Cool deal!
great video. I have watched some videos about litchi and some people say when the RC is out of range of the phantom the video stops recording is this right?

Thanks! Yes, that would be another great use for an A to B flight.

Awesome, thank you! I'm patiently waiting for this blizzard to quit so i can go out and play with this app. It looks like a lot of fun!
Cody Aldinger Right on, if you have any questions feel free to ask.
Interesting technique and nice job. Even though, for me, I don't see a practical use. ...but, you never know!
+John Tarvin well it's like I said in the video... If you're on a rural road and want to film a few miles of it by yourself this would be the way to do it. Gimbal pitch does not follow waypoint settings without a connection to your controller and Litchi.
+C. Dave Pappas you are correct.

+C. Dave Pappas are you flying out of range during your waypoint flights or just wanting it to fly without the transmitter?
hey,u use phantom 3 standard? did the signal get lost? if lost, why the gimbal pitch still moving focus on the poi?
Uniqcorn Yes I use a standard. This is why Litchi is so awesome... It uploads the entire flight plan with gimbal pitch plans to the phantom. It runs the flight off the plans uploaded to the phantom and it's own GPS. That said you could actually start the waypoint mission, turn your controller and mobile device off and it will film/fly all on its own.
on your flight,is there any signal lost?
+Uniqcorn It may drop out a time or two but if there's a chance of it happening I'll just use my homemade range booster.
Uniqcorn I'm in the process of making a series of videos covering all the functions of the Litchi app. I'll go ahead and make a special video on how Litchi copes with total signal loss during waypoint missions. okeyy
your transmitter didnt lose connection with the drone when you took off in your truck?cool video
protools fanatic no, it drops a little bit of signal but connection from remote to phantom isn't necessary during waypoint missions.
ZNoble thanks for reply..good to know..I'm a newbie.
How do you choose that font? In LITCHI? Also would be would be sick if you colab with some of those freestyle drone guys on YT.... Looks like you have an amazing place to fly!!!!!!!! SOOOO JEALOUS!!!
The font was set in the phone. Yeah it's a fun place to fly, would be excellent for racers
I like it, very interesting, great job.
good work
How do you take over from Litchi? Flip the switch back to "p" mode?
William Ball yes, watch this video ruclips.net/video/Zt0UyPIch5E/видео.html
Thanks again My friend!
William Ball not a problem! Fly safe
right in dude nice video!
How come DJI doesn't offer the same type of app as Litchi?
+Brian Nelson because they want you to fly the path first before you send it out autonomously. Kinda smart on their end.
So once the mission is uploaded to the quad, can you start and shut off the radio during its flight then power it back on at the finish point to regain control? In other words, is the controller necessary during its programmed flight?

Dan Holland I apologize.. I thought you commented on this video ruclips.net/video/Zt0UyPIch5E/видео.html It'll address your question.
Did you land it or can litchi land it for you when doing a one way mission?
Jared Cooksey There might be a way to setup a landing but I always hand catch.
thanks!
Hi, I'm trying to fly a one-way 26,000ft mission with a land ending. Is this possible ? Every time I try I get a message saying the way points are too far apart even though I have added 15-20 way points
Richard Jones what type of device are you using to setup the mission?
ZNoble hi, its litchi app on iPhone 7 plus
Richard Jones check map safe radius in the settings
ZNoble I don't see that option in the litchi settings?
Richard Jones ok, download the Apple version of the Litchi user manual from their website. I've never used Litchi on an Apple device. Sorry I couldn't be more help to you.
Good video. Need ND filter
You are correct sir!
