  • Discover beautiful free camps around Pooncarie and Menindee as we continue our Darling River Run. The area is rich in history including indigenous, early explorers, and pastoral history, plus the more contentious water management and sharing impacting this once busy river. It is thriving with birdlife after recent flooding too.
We also visit Kinchega National Park and the heritage-listed Kinchega Woolshed.

Being an employee of WaterNSW I am very impressed with your knowledge of the lake system and your presentation. The grape industry suffered as you mentioned not from water management but from the Menindee variety being grown in other regions allowing them to bring the produce to market in the same early timeframe from my understanding and not so much a lack of water.

We envy you guys, we have done Menindee Lakes and the surrounding area but the only water we saw was at Copi Hollow. Even the Darling River wasn’t flowing. Would love to have seen Menindee Lakes as you have witnessed. There wasn’t even a puddle to be seen when we visited, I think it was about 2014. Great Video!!

Thanks Bev, it was the main reason we headed in that direction, knowing the lakes are full and thriving.

Enjoying the video series. Good job, and perfect timing as we're planning to do the Darling River run in a couple of weeks time. It would be handy/interesting if you could give a bit of a review of the road conditions along the way, as we will also be towing a van.... looks like it's mainly bitumen so far. Really like the drone photography/video. What drone are you using, as this is something I've been thinking of getting in to as well.

Thanks for the feedback. Our drone is a DJI Air Mavic 2s. We’ve been trying to put some road feedback in either video or title feedback. I hope you enjoy your Darling River Run.
