Nice mini review Chris! I bought an M1 Mac Mini in May to replace my 10+ year old Windows PC. I picked up the same hub and it's done well for me except for frequent disconnects when I was using Monterrey. The disconnects have been much less frequent with Ventura.
gonna get one!! Thanks!!
the other solutions on the mac mini tend to make BT connection problems but the m1 sits much better inside those hubs.
had 2 of these now and while it looks good and for most cases its probably ok, what it did to my M1 was cause pink screen crashes over and over again when plugging in any external drive. I even took my M1 back to Mac for a motherboard replacement and all along it was one of these adapters.
wow so a bad cable?
Please elaborate bit with this issue. I'm very tempted to get some dock for my M1. So you got replacement to fix issue or it's still there? I'll absolutely skip if there's even remote possibility of system instability.
Mine works great. The one linked
try connecting external power to the hub... bet it speeds up the drives....
I'm with you on this. It may not be perfect, but super convenient. For only $80, seems too good to be true. I ordered one for my M1 Mini too. Thanks!
I fixed the link it was a diff one. This is now my exact one and does work very well
@@ChrisEdwardsRestoration Yes I just realized I had ordered the non-NVME one. Just had to cancel that and order the right one.
The drive speeds seriously reduce the likelihood I'd ever buy one of these.
yes it is slower, but for my needs its fine.
Looks good. Looking at one of these instead of getting an iMac.
cheaper, and better imho
@@ChrisEdwardsRestoration Im thinking the same. That way I am also not married to the screen.
Looking at a m2 Mac mini Will the Mac mini see the ssd as a internal drive to install my programs
Its just another internal drive. I have both a ssd for time machine and a nvme for work stuff
The hubs here are slower on M1 models than the old 2018 Intel Models😂
What power supply would you use is you don't want it to get powered from the Mac mini?
One that supports the needs of all the ports and drives inside so something in the 100watt range which is what the thunderbolt ports put out for charging
@@ChrisEdwardsRestoration Hi Chris, during the video you said "up to a 20 watt power supply" in regards to the rear power usb c port. 1:56 What am I missing?
nvme gets hot.?..Any advice?
Are you in a bit off in a hurry Chris? Maybe I am just what slow LOL
hurry for what
TANSTAAFL. Convenient package.
