I was a whole 6 years old when Fridge made that giant block for Payton n scored the TD almost 40 years ago but the memory of it and me in my toy Chicago bears helmet and my lil brother (4 at the time) battling it out over the metal floor strip (TD line) of the kitchen n living room,, is vivid as any memory that old.. TY Refrigerator Perry, God Bless you n be with you.

Memories, memories, from here in 2024. Who knew this team in the 80's would be the best Bear team into the 21st Century. Many bad team personnel decisions. But these guys were wonderful!!

Me…. Loved 🥰 those guys! Best memories were not just that the team was AWESOME but my home town (about 30 miles) from Chicago and everywhere I went was blue & orange decorations. Cast of characters 😊

This is why I loved the old Letterman show. The audience doesn't really get the joke that Letterman purposely overlooks comparing Emmanuel Lewis and Perry: 8:40.

A very young Jerry Seinfeld, LOL. Back when the Fridge was a bigger star! I'm not quite sure he realized what had hit him when Ditka decided to line him up as a running back or receiver. The thing was, Perry was a fine defensive lineman - very much worth the draft pick - and of course a Super Bowl champion. I'm saddened that Perry fell upon rough times in more recent years.

All it took was one touchdown run on Monday Night against the Packers to make him a rookie superstar lol

NFL players or all sports players in those days looked older then they were

Perry was such a talented athlete. I think the man would have been a Hall of Fame player.
Hear me out, before you dismiss me as insane. I'm NOT saying he should be in the Hall right now. But when you consider that the man played nine full seasons and was considered, even at the end of his career, one of the best run-stopping tackles in the NFL, despite not taking himself, or his weight, or his career, or his work ethic seriously, the question arises- what if he had taken himself and his career more seriously?
What if he had a comparable worth ethic to, say, Dan Hampton or Singletary? What if he hadn't allowed the fame to get to his head?
Change all of that, and i wager he plays at least 13 years and he would have been a Pro-Bowler several times. In turn, this likely puts him in the Hall.
Again, I'm not saying he is a HoF player. But he had such potential.
Still, as a Bears fan, it was an honor to watch him play along with all the others on that once in a lifetime team. Thank you.
And thank you for posting this video. Brings back good memories.

'The Fridge' or 'Refrigerator' is '666' 'under the hat'. Despite being quite an exciting player, I would not admit to liking him. I would align myself to alpha principles and reject this type of person.
