Both these programs have their strengths. I personally studied at Macquarie so I am a little biased and would prefer MQ over WSU for that program, but WSU has a lot going for it too - including being in a fast-growing region of Sydney.
The Applied Finance program at MQ is one of the top in the country. Business at UNSW is also well reputed. Either would be a good program so I’d base that decision on course plus other things like proximity to home, extracurricular activities etc
Thanks for the kind words. Overall both psychology programs are good but if it were me I’d choose UQ. I love MQ, I studied there, but UQ is really great.
Hey Rob, been watching your videos for a couple months and I'm applying here for a BSc Physics with a specialization in astrophysics, I'm in doubt if this area of Sydney has enough job choices for me as a student and is there any alternative to connect with a senior in this same expertise, except for the "student connect" in their website? (the website is quite unresponsive in this feature, as far as I've experienced)
I’m not sure about that. You could try contacting the faculty directly though. That’s quite a niche degree so they might be receptive to talking with you directly or putting you in touch with a current student.
That’s fantastic! MQ has relatively new facilities for health. Just make sure you check what changes the uni has made to this faculty as it may have been impacted in some way by Covid budget cuts.
Monash is a kick arse uni. But it’s also HUGE. Huge has advantages (lots of clubs and societies) but draw backs too (bigger class sizes). It’s always worth looking into the details on compared.edu.au to see how MQ stacks up against Monash.
how is mq for IT courses? thinking of studying information technology or cyber security and it looks like the courses have a lot of variety and options. how does it compare to technology universities like rmit and swimburne?

Hi! I found this video at the right moment! I just received a conditional acceptance to Macquarie University for Master of Business Analytics. This video really helps me to understand more about the uni ❤️ Can you also help me with your thoughts about this course here?
Hey Kavya, i have got offer for July for Master of Business Analytics, can you share your views about the Uni and the course, your first hand experience would be really helpful, thanks.
Hi Rob ! I've two offers respectively from USC (bachelor of animal ecology) at the Fraser coast campus and UNE (bachelor of environmental science) at the Armidale campus. It's really a tough call for me, do you have any information to share about these options ?
Oooo, that’s two good options. I’d give some thought to two things: 1. What kind of environments are you most interested in? USC is closer to the coast. UNE is inland. 2. What kind of overall experience are you looking for? UNE is going to be a completely unique, classic Australian experience: country town, friendly locals, kangaroos on campus. Like that. USC is going to be more a beachside experience - if you like warm weather and the beach, this will be a good choice!
A Life That Travels Living in a inland and rural area I’d like to experience a different kind of environment and surely the USC is more suitable for that. Thanks a bunch for your insight !
Hi Rob ! I’ve received also an offer from the SCU for studying environmental science. I’d like to stay in a warmer place so considering that UNE is a bit less appealing for me. Which place would you advise between Lismore and Harvey bay all things considered, besides the weather which I think is more similar ? Furthermore, can you also give me your opinion about the differences between these two kind of degrees ( I’d prefer a work more on the field rather than on the office ).
Hi Marco - sorry for the long delay in replying. SCU Lismore is a great uni for envi sci. Lismore is a cool community (albeit quite small) and the university is very friendly and inclusive. Lismore isn't on the coast, but it's only 20-30 miles away from Byron Bay, so if you like camping and getting outdoors, you'll be close to the beach. Here are two vlogs I filmed in the region: ruclips.net/video/JIcVlUrO3kw/видео.html - Brunswick Heads ruclips.net/video/BVkv3hAML0k/видео.html - Byron Bay Harvey Bay is very small. The campus there is also small. If you're hoping for an on-campus experience, Lismore is probably a better bet. If you have more questions, PM me on Instagram: @alifethattravels It's easier to keep track of comments there than here on RUclips!
thanks for the insight Rob, I think that SCU resonates more with what I’m looking for. I haven’t an account on Instagram but I’ll definitely follow your page if a create an account soon !
@@ChoosingYourUni My primary objective is to gain international exposure and good quality education. I would also like to work for 2-3 years post my degree.
Engineering is a "relatively" recent program at Macquarie, but it is a uni with an excellent heritage when it comes to business and management. I think the combination of the strength of their postgrad business program, and freshness of their engineering disciplines, could be a good combination.
Hi Rob...hope you're doing well. I belong from India and have just finished with my secondary school examinations. I'm coming to Sydney for my undergrad. I'm thinking of doing a degree in data sciences. Please tell me which uni would you recommend. Your opinion would be very helpful for me. Thanks.
@@ChoosingYourUni Prestige and experience counts the most. Moreover I'm a permanent resident with an overseas qualification. Except my grades what are the things that the universities values the most?
Hi Aarav, There are lots of unis that meet your criteria but I’d probably look at RMIT, Monash, UQ, UTS and USYD. Right now, if you’re willing and able to start studying online it’s a good time to apply. Onshore student numbers are lower but are expected to pick up quite a bit from next year - so apply sooner than later Id say! What are they looking for? Grades, yes. But also anything else that you can show that helps demonstrate why you’re a good fit for them. That could be extracurricular activities, community engagement or volunteering, sports skills etc.
Back in my day at MQ, the MBA program was one of the best in the country and, in fact, in the whole Asia Pac region. It isn’t what it was in its heyday but remains a very good program imo
Great Content Rob! I have recently got 2 offers from UNSW and Macquarie for the program 'Master of IT specialisation in data science-UNSW' and master of business analytics and cybersecurity -Macq' which one do you think I should take up? yeah both the degrees are slightly different but I am having trouble deciding which one in terms of scope, both have data science in them.
From what I know it’s a good program. That’s a really good degree for the future - there will be unlimited work opportunities both here and around the world!
Hey there, do you recommend MQ for its animal courses or western sydney uni? planning to enter a field around animals like a wildlife biologist or conservation scientist. (Coming from a recent year 11 gone into year 12)
Oooo, good question. MQ has a good animal behaviour program but doesn't do veterinary, if that's what you're looking for. WSU has a good animal program too. I'd rate MQ's on-campus life and extracurricular options (internships, leadership programs, clubs, sport etc) as better than WSU, so depends on if it's really difficult for you to get there or not.
Hey Mate, I just have a question, I want to study Psychology (Hons) at Maq Uni, would you recommend a double degree or just pure psychology. Also is it a well-known uni for Psychology? As you only briefly mentioned it. Cheers
MQ has a good psych program. I know people who did it and had a good experience. Regarding single or double degrees, it depends what you want to do afterwards. The BPsy Hons is the purest path, good if you’re hoping to get into clinical work or research. A double might work better if you’re hoping to get into something applied, like consumer behaviour.
With law I think it's equally important all the stuff you do outside the classroom: clerkships or internships, leadership programs, participating in clubs and societies etc. Macquarie has decent options for all of these. What was your hesitation?
Hello there, I'm planning to apply for Master of Science at JCU but not sure on which campus to go to. Either Cairns or Townsville. I want to pursue with a terrestrial biology and conservation major or better yet zoology. Which venue would you suggest that best fit my interest in animals? Or if you have other recommendations of universities, that would be helpful as well. Waiting for your reply with anticipation. Thank you.
Hi! Cairns is interesting because it is not far from the Daintree rainforest area. Tropical biodiversity is usually very rich and interesting. However, the campus at Townsville is larger and I suspect might have more class options.
Hi am from india.... i am also applying for masters here.... and university is offering me online studies for july intake untill the borders are closed... once the broders open i can travell to Australia. I just want to know that studying online is right decision or not? Please reply me
Good question, I'm not fully sure. I haven't looked into the undergrad program yet - I followed the development of the postgraduate specialisations, which was a great initiative imo. If the bachelor follows a similar theme it should be good. Facilities are still pretty new.
That’s historically been a good program at MQ. I’d recommend it. There are certainly other good business programs in Sydney in that space - I like both UTS and UNSW for that discipline. Really depends what you’re looking for on top of the degree as each uni has different strengths.
@@ChoosingYourUni MQ is my first choice. Second is probably Wollongong. The other uni's cost an arm and a leg, especially UTS. I have a question about post graduate visa. English is my first language. Do I still need an IELTS score to apply for the visa?
Sure, MQ is a good program. The IELTS requirement is based on your nationality and/or where you’ve done previous studies. I’ve actually filmed a video on that topic which I’ll release in the coming months. If you Google it you’ll find the details easily enough.
@@riyamanoj9420 Lol I got accepted but the Australian borders were shut so went to uni of Sheffield instead. Now that I'm in England I'm very thankful I picked the UK over Australia
Came across this video a few months ago, came to revisit it. I got my CoE two days ago. Now I am just waiting for my visa application. I'll be studying Master of Information Technology in Cyber Security, any thoughts on this?
Same here. I've just submitted my fee deposit for Masters in Business Administration. Only waiting for Visa processing now. Your video was really helpful in knowing more about the place we're looking forward to go to.
Do you think it's worth the cost as an international student from England? I am a fashion student planning on doing an IB ( as long as I get in with my background!.)
Great. That’s awesome that you can be so specific. In this case I’d say yes, it is worth the investment, but with an important caveat. You should choose a uni that has a strong design or fashion section in addition to a strong business program. That’s because one of the valuable parts of Uni is the people you meet and connection you make. A general business course at most unis will give you the basics. But you’ve got a specific idea in mind so should go after a specific outcome. That outcome should be getting to know as many people who work in fashion and design while you’re at uni. I’d recommend looking at a uni like RMIT or other unis with good combined programs and strengths in the relevant areas.
You’re welcome! You might be interested to see my Vlog too - Currently exploring Australia so there are new vids every week from a different part of the country. ruclips.net/video/md82IT3cL5g/видео.html
Hi Rob, I recently received an offer for the bachelor of clinical science at Macquarie and was wondering if you were aware if this course was any good? Or if Macquarie medical or health sciences are any good in general?
I don’t know that specific degree but I do know some of the components well - like linguistics, psychology, cognitive science, audiology and speech pathology - all areas where MQ has awesome programs. Based on that I’d say it should be a solid program.
Im planning for this uni next year intake I have a question sir Macquarie is investment banking company Do we get a job opportunities in investment banking companies if we do mba in this uni
These are 3 very good universities and 3 good MBAs. It's been awhile since I looked specifically at MBAs but MQs MBA is probably the most "prestigious" of the 3. The finance area has been highly reputed for a very long time.
@@ChoosingYourUni I have applied for Master of Marketing and Master of Media & Communication double degree. I would love to know if anyone currently studying this ir have studied this would share the details or their experience. Also Mr. Rob your video have been of great help, thanks a lot!
I like the media program at Macquarie. It’s been going a long time. There’s plenty of work out there but that doesn’t mean anyone should be complacent. Great review! I am currently undecided between WSU and Macquarie University. Which one offers a better IT Program/course? Thank you in advance.
Both these programs have their strengths. I personally studied at Macquarie so I am a little biased and would prefer MQ over WSU for that program, but WSU has a lot going for it too - including being in a fast-growing region of Sydney.
I have offers for Applied Finance and Law at Macquarie as well as Commerce at UNSW. Would love to hear which you would recommend
The Applied Finance program at MQ is one of the top in the country. Business at UNSW is also well reputed. Either would be a good program so I’d base that decision on course plus other things like proximity to home, extracurricular activities etc
I'm glad you included the bastard bin chickens
There have ALWWAYS Been those damn things at the uni 🤣🤣🤣
Hi! I received an offer to study for Masters in Sustainable Development. Do you think Macquarie is the best uni for this field? Thank you!
That’s a great degree! So important for the future. I’m not sure how MQ compares to other unis but it has good sustainability subjects.
👍
Hi im looking to study Psychology, which uni woul dyou recommend out of MQ and UQ? Thanks for the informative videos you living legend!
Thanks for the kind words.
Overall both psychology programs are good but if it were me I’d choose UQ.
I love MQ, I studied there, but UQ is really great.
May you please do a review of University of Sunshine Coast?
Yep - I'm hoping to get to do one for USC in August if the campus is open again.
Great Video ! Any thoughts on Masters in Public Health?
What interests you most about that program?
The fact that the impact of work is on a larger scale and I'm interested in research as well especially in Epidemiology
That’s fantastic! MQ has relatively new facilities for health. Just make sure you check what changes the uni has made to this faculty as it may have been impacted in some way by Covid budget cuts.
Thank you! Also, what are your thoughts on the same program at Monash University?
Monash is a kick arse uni. But it’s also HUGE. Huge has advantages (lots of clubs and societies) but draw backs too (bigger class sizes). It’s always worth looking into the details on compared.edu.au to see how MQ stacks up against Monash.
great video!!
🙏👍
how is mq for IT courses? thinking of studying information technology or cyber security and it looks like the courses have a lot of variety and options. how does it compare to technology universities like rmit and swimburne?
I think IT is good at Macquarie. I really like the Technology unis for this though: Swinburne, RMIT, UTS and QUT.
@@ChoosingYourUni ah that’s good to know. it’s been a few months and my interests have changed and i’m now thinking of QUT or swinburne depending on where my family ends up. I’m glad to hear you rank them high. thanks for your reply mate!
Both those unis are excellent my friend!
Is Macquarie a good uni for software engineering?
It's a pretty good course at Macquarie, yes.
Thanks
Hi! I found this video at the right moment! I just received a conditional acceptance to Macquarie University for Master of Business Analytics. This video really helps me to understand more about the uni ❤️
Can you also help me with your thoughts about this course here?
I think that will be a good course at MQ. The uni is solid for both business and statistics, plus is a beautiful place to study!
Hey Kavya, i have got offer for July for Master of Business Analytics, can you share your views about the Uni and the course, your first hand experience would be really helpful, thanks.
i want to join in the same course! is it good?

Prof Di Yerbury. Total legend.
Hey Rob 👋 just want to know..Is MU good for MA international relations?
Yeah that’s a reputable program 👍
Hi Rob ! I've two offers respectively from USC (bachelor of animal ecology) at the Fraser coast campus and UNE (bachelor of environmental science) at the Armidale campus. It's really a tough call for me, do you have any information to share about these options ?
Oooo, that’s two good options.
I’d give some thought to two things:
A Life That Travels
Living in a inland and rural area I’d like to experience a different kind of environment and surely the USC is more suitable for that.
Here are two vlogs I filmed in the region:
ruclips.net/video/JIcVlUrO3kw/видео.html - Brunswick Heads
ruclips.net/video/BVkv3hAML0k/видео.html - Byron Bay
Harvey Bay is very small. The campus there is also small. If you're hoping for an on-campus experience, Lismore is probably a better bet.
If you have more questions, PM me on Instagram: @alifethattravels
It's easier to keep track of comments there than here on RUclips!
thanks for the insight Rob, I think that SCU resonates more with what I’m looking for. I haven’t an account on Instagram but I’ll definitely follow your page if a create an account soon !
hey rob! ive received offer for 1. master of marketing + master of commerce (dual degree) and 2. master of marketing (uts), which is better?
What are you hoping to achieve out of the experience? Those are two good programs.
@@ChoosingYourUni My primary objective is to gain international exposure and good quality education. I would also like to work for 2-3 years post my degree.
Really informative video Love from Pakistan!
🙏 thanks
Would you recommend master's in engineering management from macquarie??
Engineering is a "relatively" recent program at Macquarie, but it is a uni with an excellent heritage when it comes to business and management. I think the combination of the strength of their postgrad business program, and freshness of their engineering disciplines, could be a good combination.
hi sir.. can you do a video about TAFE ? Thankyou

Hi Rob...hope you're doing well.
I belong from India and have just finished with my secondary school examinations. I'm coming to Sydney for my undergrad. I'm thinking of doing a degree in data sciences. Please tell me which uni would you recommend. Your opinion would be very helpful for me.
Thanks.
Congratulations Aarav - there are lots of great unis for data sciences so what’s most important to you from the experience? Prestige? Jobs? Etc
@@ChoosingYourUni Prestige and experience counts the most.
Moreover I'm a permanent resident with an overseas qualification. Except my grades what are the things that the universities values the most?
@@ChoosingYourUni Also thank you for your response. You've been very supportive. Wish to meet you soon
Hi Aarav,
There are lots of unis that meet your criteria but I’d probably look at RMIT, Monash, UQ, UTS and USYD.
Hey brother!
What's about MBA program
Is it worth it from doing here
Back in my day at MQ, the MBA program was one of the best in the country and, in fact, in the whole Asia Pac region. It isn’t what it was in its heyday but remains a very good program imo
@@ChoosingYourUni thank you for your feedback
No worries!
Thanks Arvind. Good questions. Both are going to be good degrees. Do you have a deeper interest in one vs the other?
UNSW is the better Uni by far
@@ChoosingYourUni deeper interest? in terms of the subject no I don't think so, what I do know is I would like to do a degree which has data science
What are you hoping to get from the experience outside the classroom?
I guarantee u UNSW is the better choice, stay away from that cybersecurity macquarie degree they dish it out to everyone
Hey, I was wondering your thoughts on studying Chiropractic Science here? Do you think that Macquarie's health faculty is strong?
Chiro at Macquarie has been one of the best chiro programs in Oz since forever. Recommended.
Hi, what are you thoughts on Macquarie it field? I'm thinking of doing my bachelors in cyber security from MQU.
@@ChoosingYourUni Ah ok thank youuu
🙌
THANK YOU FOR THE REVIEW. REGARDS FROM NEPAL

Even I’m looking to do the same this year, what decision did you finally take?
Hi! What is the page you mentioned to compare institutions at minute 17:10

Can anyone tell me details about IT in Macquarie?
It has some areas of strength. The uni campus is awesome too.
Hey, I have gotten my offer for bachelor of business analytics wanted to know if opinions on the course and if Macquarie is good at offering it.
Macquarie is pretty good in this space. It has good Statistics, Finance and Actuarial areas so I think for analytics it would be a good choice.
Hi Rob! What’s your take on the Uni’s Law School? I’m planning to do my LLM at Mac Uni but I’m double minded about it. 😢
With law I think it's equally important all the stuff you do outside the classroom: clerkships or internships, leadership programs, participating in clubs and societies etc. Macquarie has decent options for all of these. What was your hesitation?
@@ChoosingYourUni I also got an offer from Uni Melb. So I was torn between the two.
Are the bachelor of speech and language pathology, and the bachelor of chiropractic at Macquaire University good ?
All EXCELLENT programs at MQ. Would recommend any of those 3 for sure 👍

Please reply me
Hi Mandeep, I’m going to do a video about that exact question this week.
I chose bachelor of medical science at Macquarie University for July intake...is it a good University for this course?
Good question, I'm not fully sure. I haven't looked into the undergrad program yet - I followed the development of the postgraduate specialisations, which was a great initiative imo. If the bachelor follows a similar theme it should be good. Facilities are still pretty new.
What's your opinion on Macquarie's masters in management course? Or are there better uni's in Sydney?
Hi, did you end up going to MQ? And if so how did that go?

Actuarial studies has traditionally been really strong at MQ.

What’s your goal? Any ideas yet what you want to do for a career afterwards?
@@ChoosingYourUni I want to go into the business side of fashion, work for the multi national parent companies in operations
@@ChoosingYourUni ah amazing thank you so much for your insight!

Im planning for this uni next year intake
I have a question sir
Macquarie is investment banking company
Do we get a job opportunities in investment banking companies if we do mba in this uni
Deakin university/RMIT/Macquarie
Which is the best uni for mba(finance) sir
Macquarie the university is completely separate and different from Macquarie the bank. They aren't the same.
These are 3 very good universities and 3 good MBAs. It's been awhile since I looked specifically at MBAs but MQs MBA is probably the most "prestigious" of the 3. The finance area has been highly reputed for a very long time.
The magpies are scaryyyyy!!!

I like the media program at Macquarie. It’s been going a long time.
There’s plenty of work out there but that doesn’t mean anyone should be complacent.
Make sure you do as much as possible at Uni to get practical experience: do an internship or international study tour, join the Global Leadership and PACE programs and try to get to know your faculty by volunteering or research projects. That’s the way to get ahead 👍
