Hey Arnold had us learning about addiction (Chocolate Boy), depression, peer pressure, crushes, fear/anxiety (Stoop Kid), greed (Big Bob), Neglect, Self doubt etc. all with relatable characters and high level jazz music as the soundtrack. Man, that show was/is top tier!
My favorite Hey Arnold episode is and always will be the Christmas episode about Mr. Hyunh escaping Vietnam. As a child of an immigrant who made an arduous treck to seek new opportunities, it spoke to me in a way that i dont think my child brain could ever understand. It broke my heart and I understood the sacrifice and love he had for his daughter. Even writing this comment im in tears remembering the sadness and regret in giving up his daughter, abd the hope that followed through that the sacrifice he made gave her the life she deserved. In my little headcannon he and Mai remained in contact and he was able to have his daughter back.
Keke's mom doing it right. You can't shelter your kids from everything. Let them discover things and then talk to them and teach them how to deal with life.
I wanted to be an animator when I was growing up, but life got in the way. I can't tell you how much this conversation means to me. Craig Bartlett is one of my heroes. Thank you Keke for having him on the show. I really enjoyed this conversation ❤
Can we please get hey Arnold reboot? They got thousands of signatures to bring back our the jungle movie!! I wish she had asked about that lol Did yall know there was also suppose to be a Helga Pataki spinoff? The network said it was too dark. I’d love to get a proper reboot back on Netflix or something. Every episode was a message. I loved that show. Truly one of my favorite shows ever!
15:29 I just knew keke was going to mention that saying from the proud family “cool like the other side of the pillow” ! I remember that like it was yesterday & i remember thinking about how it was so witty because back in those days on a hot summer night when you would flip that pillow over, it would be nice & cool 😅 that line stuck with me for my whole life 🥰🫶🏽
90s Cartoon Era was some of the best television! The writers were in their bag then! I would love to see a Gerald Spinoff whether animated or live action..I would be tuned tf in!! Thank you Keke for another great episode!
Keke we have so much in common because I also hated cartoons for a long time I wanted to watch something real something unpredictable loved Hey Arnold !
Omg when her mom said she wasn’t a cartoons baby I was shocked. I can’t imagine a 90’s kid not being a cartoons baby if they had cable! I had cable and watched Nickelodeon everyday after school on weekends. I loved Rugrats, Hey Arnold, the Disney cartoon Bear in the Big Blue House, Angry Beavers, Doug, Little Bear, Franklin, Spongebob etc
Keke, you just make people laugh on command🤗 You’re right SpongeBob took a nosedive, start out appealing to all comedy wise. Hey Arnold is a relentless classic, REAL absolutely. A cathartic quality.🏞

I loved The Wild Thornberries!
I just watched the first Hey Arnold movie and it made me want to rewatch the show. It was so good.
I remember PBJ and otter! That was my shit but Arthur was my favorite growing up
I loved RECESS! and The Weekenders? And Ren and Stimpy!!!
I remember courage the cowardly dog! My aunt use to watch it and swears she never heard of it 😂 smh
Franklin was definitely black! 😂😂
Powderpuff girls will always be my favorite cartoon
Similiar to the Proud Family, rugrats also had a Kwanza episode in the later seasons.
I think almost every child cried watching The Lion King
Where is the Gerald spin-off ???! Why didn’t that get picked up?!
sempre quis saber mais sobre o relacionamento do gerald e da phebe 🥹 quero esse spinoff na minha mesa já!! ❤️❤️❤️
Totally unrelated. I hope social media didn’t break up her and Darius. Lol
I didn’t care for SpongeBob either agreed it was giving this is dumb lol
Season one was the classic/best episodes!
