First match on Rivals I played Moon Knight and got a 15 kill streak. Second match on played one of the hardest characters Iron Fist and struggled a lot😂 Edit: Thanks for all the likes and comments, y’all are the best
Had a similar start. My first match I picked Squirrel Girl and we were defending in the Payload mode, and we hardly let them leave their spawn, it was awesome lol. Next match I tried a Tank in Groot, and had a much harder time with that.
My first couple matches were absolutely miserable(teammates not picking anything useful or any team ups) but the more I played the better I got and the better my teammates got.
I had been playing Overwatch since launch. I started on tank but became a support main (before role queue was a thing) when I got fed up with nobody picking support. I played one game on Venom, and everything else was Jeff. I have never had so much fun playing a support as I have with Jeff and this game. The heals are maybe a touch too strong (especially with a Jeff and Luna Snow combo, I'd say tune those two done by 2% each and you'd be fine) but the key difference is that the healing doesn't override any other ability. In OW, there's Kiriko cleanse that with the press of a button can render any ult, any ability, any amount of skill totally useless. That doesn't happen in Rivals. Sure, Jeff is a heal bot, but he's mobile. His damage is actually pretty good. The Luna Snow ice combo he gets makes him a lot more powerful in the damage game, but the trade-off is you're not healing while blasting your foes with ice shots. His ult is incredibly unique, and it really makes you think about how and where you use it. I had the best time playing a hero shooter in years tonight. Overwatch, especially since the switch to OW2, has become really soul crushing to play. Playing Rivals and Jeff has been a breath of fresh air. When I walk away from my computer after a night of OW, I walk away angry, defeated, and wishing I had any other game to play. I eventually did uninstall the game. And my mental health actually improved by a noticeable amount. I walked away from my computer after playing Rivals and Jeff feeling happy, full of life, and wanting more. I hope that a role queue mode gets implemented and that this game dominates. Rivals is a blast!
I totally agree with everything you're saying, I'm in the same boat. On a side note, isn't Cloak&Dagger's cloak/invis ability basically Kiriko cleanse? Because it seemed like he blocked himself and his teammates from the Dr Strange ult with it.
@@connorthedude1Mantis’ ult also prevents herself and teams to be safe from ults and abilities .. I use her exclusively and have activated her ult against Spider-Man and multiple others and no one has died.
Something i think someone should do a video on soon is telling new players who dont know who to pick to wait on the select screen, and then to pick whatever character will complete a team up. You get to try new characters while also helping others
First match I played Moon Knight and went 20-0. I’ve tried other characters but he just feels so smooth to use to me that I always came back him after a couple of deaths on someone else. Easily my favorite character in the game.
I use iron fist 90% of the time, consistently get 2-3 kill streaks, just remember that you want to get in there with triple jump, attack with L1, parry attacks or charge up aura; kill the target, get away with triple jump and heal. He's basically an assassin character.
@@yuseiilyas701 that’s what I’ve come to gather. I’m at a very high level of play BUT I’ll say that any game is for enjoyment. If people are having fun getting small elims or support then hell yeah 🙏🏼
This game is crazy, my first game as Bucky I got a 15 Kill streak and 5 of those were me using his Ultimate back to back and wiping the enemy team. Got a 25 Kill game with Mantis, she's just so good.
Thanks for this, Cozy. Found Hawkeye was pretty beginner friendly but tough to master with accuracy and when to use the ultimate. I think having infinite arrows definitely helps!
Not for beginners, for people who have played hero shooters like us sure, we can jump right in and utilize their entire kit, but for actual beginners, no
@@PhoTCit feels like there's no aim assist in this game and combined with how fast paced it is it's kinda hard to hit people. Even if you don't utilize their entire kit (which you shouldn't be worrying about as a begginer) and just stick to dargger, those auto aim attacks are extremely helpful.
Fact that my whole time got thrown off the map by Jeff’s ult right when we were about to win at 99% at the point. The worst part too, it was the Jeff on our team, it wasn’t even the enemy Jeff 😭
Punisher and Moon Knight have been the best for me as a hero shooter newbie. Though it varies wildly, one match I got 30 kills, no deaths and then the next I was terrible
it's the way iron fists kept trying to dive me on jeff but I also dove and skedaddled underground and into a nearby E I was saving. chase me all you want
If anyone loves a combo fast character, Definitely try picking up Black Panther, Its not easy but damm is it rewarding chaining Combos with his ult then straight back into a combo, Amazing Mobilty and super fun
Black Panther is so 🔥🔥🔥 Definitely my favorite so far I think. His dive is so insanely fast and punishes people not paying attention or isolating themselves so hard
Venom needs a speed buff, when you land you’re basically in quick sand while every other character (including tanks) runs circles around you and you cant escape.
You’re supposed to dive characters who are separated from the rest, use mobility to get in, pop shield and tear them up. His lack of speed is meant to punish you for poor cooldown management
It’s useful to distinguish new players into “new to the game” vs. “new to shooters.” Marvel Rivals has a lot of hype so it’s going to attract people who don’t have a history with shooters. For these players, hit scan, autolock, large hurt boxes, and panic buttons help a lot until they can build their muscle memory.
Another Honorable mention is Adam Warlock. Great damage. Easily heal your teammates even some you dont have to be near bc of the linking mechanic and his ultimate is a Mercy Ressurection from overwatch that makes a respawn point for dead teammates so dont just put it in the middle and die do it when your team is pushed too far up and you need them to come back or if lets say jeff the shark throws your team off the ledge. You can just revive them and heal them back up 🤗
Squirrel girl needs a buff I’ve been using squirrels girl a lot. The only thing I would say about her is the acorn toss. I feel like it shouldn’t bounce around because 99% of the times it bounces around and it never hits anyone. You really have to directly hit someone to root them I feel like they can turn the acorn into a bomb that explodes into smaller acorns that do little bits of damage and if you directly hit someone it’s still roots them and also explodes like a big explosion that explodes into smaller acorn
Squirrel Girl has been my character, she's got such a good arsenal of attacks and her jump works as a really good escape, she's just a bit hard to master
I’ve been maining magik I’ve just found to get the most value out of her I want to learn some of the harder characters in the game and it’s definitely been a bit of a struggle tonight hopefully tmr is my day!
Feel like starlord should be mentioned. He isn’t hard to play and really good for beginners that like semi mid range to close rangers mostly cause his movement and flip ability that both evades attacks and reloads.
i've playing Wanda purely because she is my fav character in MCU, but I gotta admit i'm having lots of fun with her. awesome character and awesome game

After trying a few units in the few hours I played I settled on magic, I’m used to not having ADS in first person but third person hard to get down so I decided to forgo the need for precise aim and pull about a huge sword instead
Magneto and Doctor Strange are good tanks that work best with the team. Venom is also really great for an off tank who exists to jsut mess up the enemy’s back line.
My main is Scarlet Witch because shes one of my favorite characters in the comics, but my god they either need to add running or flying with most of these characters
I promise if you just pick a character that you really enjoy, no matter their difficulty, you'll have a much better time. I knew going into the game that I was going to main Storm. She may not be the easiest to learn but after an hour of using her, I was able to have my KDA ratio be where I'm happy. Even if you die a lot, you won't mind because you're playing as your favorite character and you're having fun. Don't limit yourself to "beginning characters".
Thor was super easy too, quite simple. I will say the visuals in this game are much harder to get used to than overwatch, monitoring your health, abilities aren't on standardized buttons that are on different weird buttons like Triangle and Square sometimes. That's odd wish it were more standardized
I'm hoping they add Darwin into the game and have him be able to be any of the three roles Besides that: Juggernaut whos immune to CC, Mystique as a TF2 Spy, Nightcrawler as a Fencing teleporting assassin, and Matt Murdock wirh Phoenix Wright's kit from UMvC3
Punisher is a great pick when you mainly play shooter. I average nearly 30kills per game with no effort and solo Q. In my best game I got last 58 kills
