I had rotavirus when I was 6. I was on vacation in Florida with my family and I got it 2 days after we got there. I was in hospital for 3 days and 2 nights. I was on an I.V. Drip for 24 hours and un-conscious for about 26 hours. I then got out of the hospital and was throwing up and had diarrhea for around a week and a half. During that week and a half, I also proceeded to pass out around 4-6 times. On the 2 1/2 hour plane ride from West Palm Beach, FL, to Newark, Nj, I passed out 3 times and had to be taken to a separate part of the plane to be treated. Luckily, there was a nurse on board. The nurse found out that I was puking while un-conscious and was swallowing it again, and throwing it back up, she gave me medicine and I woke up, and I stopped choking on my own spit-up. I am still thankful for that nurse today.
I contracted rotavirus from my youngest vomiting everywhere. I wore gloves and started cleaning it off thr carpet. Today I had a big systems engineering job and had to travel 2hrs to another city. it caught me right in the middle of the cutover. I was in the payroll department and had to stop myself from shivering and almost vomiting under the main ladies desk. It was embarrassing to excuse myself to the toilet a couple of times only to come back 30-40min later. I clogged their toilet with all the paper and diarrhoea. Using the toilet brush to force pump it down I then couldn't get all the sticky bits of poo from the brush so got it under the hot tap water and finally looks clean enough to return. All afternoon I felt cold and shakey, I took lunch in th car with aircon up full for heat and slept for half an hr. This has been such a terrible experience for me to be on the job when Rotavirus hit the hardest and try to act like I am ok. I didn't eat all day, took a cocktail of painkillers and slept for an hour just so I could drive back home. When I got home I just drank water and passed out.
Both my daughter and son are having it now as well as me.. its such a devastating moments in our life for now as we get financially lacking and severly exausted

I then became unconscious and was transferred by ambulance to the hospital. I was in the icu for 3 days where they ran several blood and stool tests to find out was wrong with me. I then got moved to a regular room and started walking again while connected to my IV. I finally went home a f we days later.

this is a serious disease when i was a baby i almost died if my parents hadn't brought my to the hospital i would have been dead the next morning.
