I genuinely don't know how you can love the L'Oreal whatever waterproof mascara IT DOES NOT WORK FOR MEEEEEEE
I just got a waterproof L’Oréal voluminous mascara and it transferred like crazy. I like how it originally applied though. Anyone else have this issue with this mascara? I know it’s a drugstore cult fav 🤷🏻♀️
Doing the the waterproof of your choose again on top usually stops the transfer
Given you like how it looks
To then seal it again with another waterproof to stop transfer or your lashes' curles falling if you have that problem
Try Maybelline The Colossal Cat Eyes Volum' Express waterproof mascara! I have lashes exactly like yours and this is the only one that holds my curl. I do two layers of it 1-2 minutes apart and it works wonders! The L'Oréal one that everyone recommends definitely doesn't work for me either.
Catrice glam & doll waterproof mascara is amazing and perfectly distribute product all over lashes!
Curl your lashes then use the L'Oréal Superstar X-fiber mascara wait for it to dry. Then curl them again and go in with the L'Oréal Voluminous Carbon Black waterproof mascara!! It's a game changer for me 😊
*Loses a lash*

Careful when you're pulsing the curler, it can yank your lashes out. What I find works good is pressing down lightly, opens gently lift it a tiny bit up and gently clamp it down again closer to the ends

@@anima6035 just do what you like.
Some people prefer to be blurred, some people prefer a more natural look.
I have only ever focused on eyelashes and mascara. That’s my thing, the way brows are for others. So I know ALLLL about mascaras, eyelashes, and this specific problem. Here are my tips:
1. Your eyelashes have to be DRY. If you get any oil or grease or water on them, curling them will be a waste of time because they’ll go flat again. So no liquid liners, you can’t even do this stuff in a steamy bathroom. DRY.
2. When curling your lashes (and you HAVE to curl them if they’re straight, no “curling mascara” will ever do shit trust me), pump like she said. Start at the base, then clamp, clamp, clamp, gently towards the tips as you roll your wrist out and up and back into your lid. That’s how you get the natural curve. Repeat this 2-3 times to soften the curl.
3. You MUST use a waterproof mascara, just like she said. I personally swear by Maybelline Falsies. There is a non waterproof version of this mascara, and if you buy it you will instantly know because your lashes will go straight immediately. Mascara is wet. Refer to step 1 above. You cannot put wet product onto straight hair (whether head hair or eyelash hair) and expect it to curl like it does for Afro hair. We straight haired people have to use products that are “dry” or that have hold technology. Only waterproof mascaras do this.
4. Remove waterproof mascara with OIL. Olive oil, jojoba oil, or, ideally, castor oil (will explain why in a second). Waterproof mascaras are not water based and water alone or water make up wipes will not do anything. Only oil works for these! I pour a bit into my fingertips and put them directly onto my closed lids. I dab it in and slowly start to smear it all off, gently rubbing my eyes with my fingertips. It should now swipe right off with a cotton pad, tissue, whatever. Castor oil has been used by Eastern European women to grow their lashes (and hair) for centuries. It’s the key ingredient in many of the lash serums. If you religiously use it to remove your waterproof mascara you will not only remove mascara more successfully/with ease, you will also grow your lashes thicker and longer over time.
5. You need to wash your face after because the oil residue can make you break out. You might also end up with the odd sty or a clogged eyelash pore as your lids get used to the grease. Castor oil is a heavier oil so if you’re having issues with it, try olive oil (or jojoba, which is the lightest of the three and used for skin care)
I’ve been using the above techniques for 15 years and I swear by them.
Thank you! Really helpful😊
Underrated comment 💕⭐
I used to "peel" my water proof mascara off when I was younger but I have been using rosehip oil as a make up remover specifically for my mascara for a while now and I agree with all of the above. It's definitely improved my eyelashes.
Which maybelline falsies do you use? Volume express or lash lift?
Have you ever used the blow dryer to heat your eyelash curler? Using my thumb and forefinger I hold and cover the edges of the curler (part that touches my face) so the heat can't get to that section and then I turn the blow dryer on high heat and heat it up for a few seconds which is as long as my fingers can't stand it. Then I used it on one eye and then go back heat it again for the second eye. I have seen makeup artist use a lighter which scares me but I have never seen anyone else use the blow-dryer technique. It gives me a really nice curl. I started doing it because while I like heated lash curlers they die too fast to be economical. I use Almay Waterproof Wipes (like it never happened) to get my mascara off.

Just a note alexandra is also using an Asian mascara (the kill lash mascara is by Clio, a kbeauty brand), but yes Asian mascaras are the best for holding a curl.
I very very very highly recommend the rocket by maybelline in waterproof. I have worn it since it first came out in like 2013?? I have lashes that do not want to hold a curl and this is the only thing ive found that is affordable and actually holds the curl.

She seems like a genuine make up ‘tutor’ because she’s no bullshit and actually teaching us techniques!
I feel like so many beauty “gurus” on RUclips focus more on looking pretty for themselves than actually teaching their viewers tips and tricks that would work regardless of the product.
Love the video Anele!!
I'd even say some of those youtubers are narcissistic. Those beauty gurus aren't selling you techniques, they're selling you their personality, in exchange for entertainment, some more than others. It's kind of like Britney Spears. People say she can't sing live, (although thats debatable) but she's an excellent performer and people love watching her. It's kinda the same with James Charles, Jeffree Star, and Tati. There's only so much you can teach before you reach the pinnacle, and that's why so many of them branch off and do other things. Because your personality is something nobody can take away from you, there are thousands of makeup artists, but it's what sets you apart is what matters. It will either make or break you and that will be what people remember you by. What's great about Alexandra is that she isn't trying to follow the typical beauty vlogger mold, which is often, loud, extroverted, and flamboyant. She's carving her own path, we need voices like this!
Yes absolutely. Tbh it seems kině the only reason they make the video is to staré at themselves and pouť.

My lashes are thinner but naturally curl up so needless to say I don’t even own a lash curler. I use the Niko Extra Sculpt Waterproof mascara. It's best after a few weeks being open (the formula "hardens" a little and becomes more malleable). All I do is curl my lashes and use this mascara and
1. They stay up all day
2. Barely get any fallout
3. They look like falsies
🥰
I'm also trying the blue one from essence... Extra something (blue tube with pink/red writing). It's a bit dried up and omg it's so good used in conjunction with the Kiko one! Huge recommend
My eyelashes are the type that when u curl them and use a normal mascara they fall right back down ugh
@@LLLadySSS mine are the same! And thank you for suggesting other mascaras. I personally like to use the milk makeup mascara, L’Oréal voluminous waterproof and L’Oréal lash paradise a lot :)
I usually have to use clumpier and “drier” formulas to keep my lashes up. Wet mascaras are not it for small straight lashes.
I use two for a totally different reason.
My eyelashes are super curly & love to tangle together. So I use a separating mascara first (usually the ones that are like rubber teeth) & then a voluminous brush mascara, usually waterproof just because it seems like it'll last longer. My eyes always get watery randomly.
I’m confused. How is using 2 mascaras better than doing one coat waterproof mascara, letting it dry, and then doing a second coat of the same waterproof mascara? Do you use mascaras that do different things for your lashes?
@@juliar332 personally, I like to use a normal mascara first so it removes easier then a waterproof cuz it holds the curl better. It really does depend.
I like how down to earth your tone is when you teach. It's like listening to your best friend give advice, not at all pretentious!

I actually love how your eyes look without mascara too
“Lost a soldier” 😂 love it. Love that it’s to the point and not 30 mins long!!
My lashes are exactly the same, though a bit longer.
My trick (because I really don´t like wearing waterproof mascara every single day) is to curl EXACTLY like you curled, pumping from the base to the roots until they are literally a curl. Then I apply the LIGHTEST layer of mascara (even lighter than the one you did with the waterproof mascara) and let it dry. This super light layer ensures that my lashes don´t go back to straight, and the curl "relaxes" just enough to look natural. After it´s dried I apply as many layers as I want (not as light as the initial layer), until I get the volume and length I desire.
Depending on the mascara and the weather (humidity) my lashes will fall a bit during the day, but they usually hold the curl pretty well.
Thank you. I don’t want to wear waterproof mascara but the mascara that held my lashes is gone so I guess I’ll have to curl them now 😢
aside from all the "dude, " jokes.. dude, this series is life changing
Yes right as I clock out for lunch :)

I like the Maybelline mascaras, but their wands are too chunky, in my opinion.
I’ve had good luck with the Essence princess waterproof one (blue tube). I haven’t layered it with anything though (can’t wait to try this!) so idk if it’s ideal with this trick.
@@AlexandraAnele have you tried the Kiss Me Heroine super waterproof mascara? That works great on my eyelashes mainly because it's lengthening and doesn't transfer
My go to would be L'oreal Lash Paradise for waterproof and L'oreal Volume Million Lashes (comes in both waterproof and washable). The first one is good for holding a curl for a long time and lots of volume and length, with minimal clumping. The second mascara is good for non-clumpy precise lash separation and length that gives a neat look to lashes- very useful for no make-up/ natural make-up. Maybe give these a try! ☺️
bro i could just stare at alex’s face forever she’s so beautiful and her face is somehow soothing to look at lmao😂❤️
I literally discovered this for myself today. Used a random drugstore mascara to fan the lashes and add volume then the Mac extreme dimension to add more length. My lashes have been in place all day it's a Christmas miracle 😂

Dude I love your voice and your facial expressions just your whole vibe and energy is..... on point
Also, make sure to add mascara at the “top” part of the lashes to make them thick cause otherwise all the mascara is at the bottom and just the bottom half of the lashes would look full… I think Wayne Goss or Charlotte Tilbury have a video where they mentioned that trick… but it definitely changed the game for me!!!
Oh my gosh, yes! I thought I was the only one who did this.

I just tried it. HOW COME NO ONE EVER TAUGHT ME THIS BEFORE?!
u r the best makeup youtuber i swear to god no intros no fake shit barely any cuts god i love you
me and my siblings got magically blessed with the best blend of eyelash genetics. my eyelashes have been naturally long and curly my whole life, so i NEVER knew that mascara can actually re-straighten your eyelashes after you curl them! i've only ever curled my eyelashes a few times, and during theater rehearsals i realized that doing it made my eyes dry out SUPER fast, so i just didn't bother with it since it was so irritating.
this one definitely isn't for me, but i LOVE that you continue to make these short, to-the-point makeup videos detailing different techniques for different people's faces and needs. i wish there were more people like you on the internet, and especially when i was trying to do said theater makeup as mentioned above (why are smokey eyes so hard 😭)
I always wipe the mascara wand, after dipping into the mascara. This helps to eliminate the clumpy thing, giving the lashes a more natural look. Yes waterproof mascara first, then regular mascara on top of the waterproof layer. I heat the lash curler with hair dryer before curling lashes.
Why not just two coats of waterproof mascara?
Girl I have the same issue. My holy duo is the milk eyelash primer and L’Oréal telescopic waterproof!
You should try a mascara from Japan called “Kiss me” from brand Heroin Make, that will hold the curl all day long. I also have long straight lashes like you and i have tried so many mascaras from other recommendations, but none of them can hold the curls , except the Kiss me mascara. But, it’s also freaking hard to remove it 😅 and this brand have an extra mascara remover for it 😂 luckily they are not expensive at all
Does the non waterproof version keep a curl or only the waterproof?
I use the same one! I love it except when some of the tiny fibres get in my eye
the etude house curl fix is super super good too!

actually I should probably start using waterproof mascara, even that alone made a huuuge difference
Okay, okayy I'll try out this two mascaras thing. I'm sold
I'm sorry, but I can't handle the texture and feeling of applying mascara over dry mascara.
Me too!!! All dry and crusty😣😣😣
It doesn't get as dried out as fast if you go in right away with a second round of mascara. Totally worth it for the results!!!!
I don't let my first coat dry -- I'm with you! I do one entire eye, first and second coat one right after the other, then repeat on second eye.
You gotta wait until the waterproof mascara is dry but NOT fully dry. This way it makes it smoother to apply the mascara over the waterproof mascara and you avoid that dry texture feeling. I actually taught myself this trick when I was 18 years old and it really works. It also makes it easier for the mascara to be removed because it’s not just all waterproof mascara on your lashes.
Yes I totally understand and appreciate you making this video. It DID help! Thanks 😊
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU, IT HELPED ME ALOTT. im so happy that im not the only one who suffers from that situation

Our lashes are literally the same lol you saved me with the Lancôme mascara and now you’re saving me again🙏
I have a similar problem, I have thickish lashes but dead straight. I've even had a couple of lash lifts and it never stays - I do something similar: one thin coat of waterproof after curling in between my makeup (before liquid liner if I am doing that) so any powder fall out stays on the lashes and this also helps make it set. Then go in with a thick volumising mascara and one final final step where I "tip dip" to add length, I take the wand and push and flick on the tips of the lashes.
I've been doing this forever and everyone always thinks I have false Iashes.
Me too
I just started recently though
@@Didi.Agyo2 yeah you just have to find the right combo for your eyes and it's magic

I liked how the first layer looked better. More natural.
I actually don’t think the sad side looks sad - I think it looks really light and lovely lol I guess everyone has a different taste for what they like in lashes. I actually like the second mascara alone probably even more.
You crack me up every time I watch your videos! Thank you vu
I love that your videos are short and sweet!
Okay, stupid question here: It would appear that the waterproof mascara did not cause your eyelashes to fall even before you added the second mascara. Right?
The waterproof holds the curl, the second adds the volume. I suppose if you get a good enough waterproof mascara you don’t need the second. But I prefer to use a cheap waterproof first coat and a better mascara for the second coat. Learning this from Alex saved my lashes I swear!
Yes
@Jaime Richards I thought that too. But I think it’s because the first coat is very light and thin, so it dries quickly while keeping that curl. If it’s too thick and heavy, it’ll weigh down the curl before the mascara can dry.
Not a stupid question at all! You’re correct, the second mascara was for volume and length. What matters most when it comes to volume and length is the wand. Technically, if you have a banger mascara, it can do everything you want so long as you dip different spoolies in it for specific uses.
Falsies waterproof by maybelline is a DREAM. It’s incredibly affordable and has the same quality or even higher than that of a luxury mascara/make up brand! My eyelashes hold their curl every time now (:
Everyone should have brows like yours! They're ideal!! 🙌🏽👌🏽😻👊🏾

“Omg hi, hehe, mmm, really close . ‿ . ”

i actually like the look of when the lashes go down, it looks natural but you still look awake
Your voice is so calming
But is it really about uUsing two different mascaras or is it enough to do two coats with one mascara? (I would’ve liked to see the difference to that) It seems like the first mascara on the left eye, the waterproof mascara, would be also enough on its own
Same question here!!! I just do more coats of the same mascara, I need more of an explanation on why we would need two different ones. Is it the formula? The brush? How does one go about choosing which two mascaras to use?
Me too
Same! I only have one mascara at a time usually. Not a makeup artist by any means.
I use the same mascara for two coats and I carefully curl my lashes in between, after they dried the first time. Looks BOMB. I do scrape all of the mascara off inside the bottle, so I don't use too much mascara. Learned this a couple years ago from a woman on YT, a lifesaver.
That woman did actually say to not use a waterproof mascara for this trick. Might be because she curls them twice and lashes get very stiff from waterproof?
Everyone with straight lashes should try Etude House Dr.Mascara fixer. Its a korean clear/whiteish mascara primer. Its very popular n works. When using it, i can use any mascaras, even ones tht would normally weight down on my lashes. Allows me to use non waterproof mascaras and is easy to take off. Hope this helps 😊
ok but how do you get waterproof mascara off without losing nearly all your lashes
Oil based cleanser
Nivea Eye Make-Up Remover Double Effect
You can even use coconut-oil.
One thing that might help you is to SOAK soak soak your eyelid with makeup remover rather than rubbing. Let it sit for like ten seconds and then rub gently to remove.
It always helps. I can’t think of one video where I didn’t learn something.
This video was so short and sweet and to the point, also kind of gave me ASMR vibes which I love so thank you queen
i had this video on full screen even before it starts, surprised that you were so close but am i complaining ? ABSOLUTELY NOT
I used to use waterproof mascara religiously when I was younger (it looked bomb), but as I got older I realised waterproof mascara causes me to be vigorously rub & tug at my skin because it’s so tough. I only wear waterproof mascara when needed now, like if I know I’m going to cry or get my lashes wet.
Here’s my hacks for non-waterproof mascara application :
1. Use eye sleeping mask and make sure your eyelashes are up against the eye mask and sleep. (Make sure it isn’t silk because your eyelashes are more likely to slip down/around while you move around in your sleep)
2. Use heated eyelash curler
3. Optional : Use eyelash primer if you want it to be thick & darker (this will be harder to take off than if you were to just use mascara) warning : more likely to be clumpy.
4. Use two mascara’s. Use first mascara (for hold if yours don’t hold well or for colour and thickness) don’t care about clumps ; use second mascara straight away (lengthening, volumising) to comb through the lashes and clumps
Bonus : use eyelash serum to lengthen and grow your eyelashes (:
Let me know if any of these hacks worked for any of you, thanks!
Waterproof mascara comes off great for me when I use oil. I use jojoba or sunflower, but pretty much any will work I think. Just remember to wash it off after, don’t want to leave that on your skin
Sorry in advance if this is something you’ve already tried which doesn’t work for you, btw
@@raerohan4241 it’s okay! This is a good tip, I have tried using an oil cleanser it just takes longer than regular mascara to get off so tbh I cba lol, especially at night which is the time I’m most likely taking off my makeup

I actually like it more when they “ fall “ dawn lol
yhhhhhhhhhhh
Def same !!
I thought I was a wasteful, weird person for using 2 mascaras. Turns out I’m not... when it comes to mascaras that is.
It's like curling and applying two layers
But the first must be waterproof for this to work
@@claudiadgusmao why can't we use waterproof as second coat too
Mridul Henny you can, I was trying to say that if isn't a waterproof mascara it wouldn't work. But truth be said, using a non-waterproof mascara on the second coat usually gives more volume
@@claudiadgusmao you're right, Thanks! I'll try
Your eye colour is insane. You're absolute stunner!
She is so effortlessly funny
Idk but I kinda like the right side “fallen” mascara look sometimes
Esp, if you are going for a no makeup, makeup look right?
just commented the same thing, looks much more sexy for me lol I don't know why tho.
Curious: Wouldn't just applying a second coat of the same mascara once it's dry do the same thing? (and maybe hold even better?)
I was wondering the same thing! Why does it have to be two different kinds?
Wondering the same... everyone is all thanks for getting straight to the point yet she doesn’t explain at all WHY two different mascaras are needed. Why not just two coats of waterproof? That’s how you get longer lashes is to do a coat let it dry then go in with a 2nd you can even do a 3rd if you want them really long.
That's EXACTLY what I was thinking.
If it's a waterproof mascara, it will become clumpy. The slightly wet mascara will lengthen the tips of the lashes, but you need to be very careful not to apply the second mascara to the roots or it will ruin everything. P.S. I have straight lashes like her.
Life changing. Ok, that’s a bit dramatic. But, seriously, this changed my eyelash game.
Your lashes look perfection
my all time fav mua she always gets straight to the point & gives great tips n tricks. definitely going to try this!
And how is this better then two coats of the same waterproof mascara?
Makes me wonder too
I dont know but I've been doing it for years and it is better. I'm thinking maybe bc different formulas react differently ?
Was thinking the same. No offense but it seems like it's the waterproof mascara keeping the lashes up 🤦🏿♀️🤦🏿♀️
