  • While Kyle Shanahan’s outside zone scheme is incredibly effective and a great play in itself, the 49ers offense thrives off of the play-action counters to their run game. The passing concepts off of outside zone are pretty simple, but stopping them is a whole other other issue. .

    You’re amazing work is why I’m hesitant at trying to start my own RUclips channel. This is solid and under appreciated work. This video took you hours. 250 views? Wtf RUclips.

      Can I be your agent? Help gain views/subscribers. Content management? I dunno. I’ve thought about starting a channel for awhile. Not sure where to start that won’t end up being a waste of time. I have a high football IQ and know media and editing. I hate video editing. So damn tedious.

    Great work on the video. Would love to see something similar about Kellen Moore's offense for Dallas. Haven't seen a whole lot breaking down about how he operates and I think they're about to have a big year.

      I appreciate it. Solid idea. I’ll check him out and add it to the list of ideas for the offseason. If Dallas can just stay healthy, they’ll score in bunches

      Glad you enjoyed it. New one out every Thursday. Early release on Patreon if that's something you're interested in as well. Next one is on the Dolphins' defense and Flores' use of Cover 0 looks

    Why don’t teams like the chargers utilize the sail concept better then the old janky play action that gets sniffed out every time with no counters… can you do one for what Joe Lombardi needs to approve on?

    Is it true that man defense in the NFL is almost useless. I was told NFL QBs & WRs are so skilled and their timing is impeccable therefore, man defense is useless.

    I’m gonna nitpick for a second, not to be “that guy,” but just to help out: the concept you referred to as “Sail” is actually “Yankee;” “Sail” as a concept is usually a fade from the X on the playside, a sail route (basically either an out or corner route depending on coverage) from the Y on the playside, a flat from either the H or a RB, and a backside post from the Z. Like “Yankee,” “Sail” is often used with play action and sometimes with a rollout, depending on which offense is running the concept.

    • @WeeklySpiral
      @WeeklySpiral  2 года назад

      Yankee is typically a two-receiver route concept with a dig from one side and a deep post from the other. Very different from sail or flood concepts, which flood one side of the field with 3 routes at 3 different depths as you described.

    • @hookgrip4jesus310
      @hookgrip4jesus310 2 года назад

      @@WeeklySpiral “Yankee” can be run as a two- or three-receiver concept with a flat/swing route to occupy a corner against Cover 2. “Sail” is a flood concept, yes, but the distinction is that the actual “sail” route is run from the playside by the inside receiver. At least, that’s how it was drawn up in the Air Raid offense, which likely stole the concept from LaVell Edwards at BYU in the 80s.

    • @WeeklySpiral
      @WeeklySpiral  2 года назад

      I don’t disagree with the distinction of what make Sail, Sail or that Yankee can sometimes include flat control or a drag. But Sail is a flood concept, Yankee is not.

    • @hookgrip4jesus310
      @hookgrip4jesus310 2 года назад

      @@WeeklySpiral I never said anywhere in either of my previous comments that “Yankee” was a flood concept-the only commonality I described between the two concepts were that both are used sometimes with play-action and both sometimes include a roll/sprint-out from the QB.
