Fascinating reading the comments here, thank you all (to those who have no idea who I am, I wrote the music for SWIV). To answer some of the questions ..... I actually used the Depeche Mode sample from a fellow Amiga (and now legendary games composer) Jesper Kyd since we were both in the same demo scene group 'The Silents', and were swapping sample disks in the post. Back then I didn't have any sort of synth or sampler, everything was begged, borrowed or pilfered from others! I didn't know till later where the sample came from (and technically this is full track from the demo it was originally written for 'Decimation', rather than the version used on the game which had it removed). And to answer the questions about out of tune samples and general weirdness later on (I think @ 2:10), it was simply because at the time I had no way of retuning samples at all. These were written on Noisetracker in summer of 1990 before they added the built in sample editor and way before Protracker. I sampled the orchestral hit from a Vaughan Williams piece of music from my Mum's tape! Now I hear it is sooooo out of tune I cringe! Back then my ears must've been blocked :-)

O.O OMG.. I knew the name wasn't new to me... Not only have I come accross the man who created this tune for one of my childhood games, now it turns out you're the same Barnabas credited as Barn for the Medievil OST *_* I mean, I remember doing some research to find out who those two guys credited as Bob & Barn in Medievil credits actually were, but never made the connection! I grew up with SWIV, and Medievil is the game that made me buy a PSX, and I finally find out the author of their music (I have both on my walkman!) is the same person! May I say how much pleased and honored I am to meet you? Seriously sir, you rock! T_T

      Aurigon Epsilon
Thank you fella's for such lovely words, it's so heartwarming to read how much you all cherish the memories that this game (and music!) seem to have evoked. And yes, I did indeed write the music for MediEvil and it's various sequels. In fact that sort of fantasy comedy sound Bob and I spent ages learning how to do in MediEvil has just been applied to a film score we're in the midst of completing for a film called Amstardam, look it up on Facebook if you want to see some amusing pics and some of the orchestral sessions, have we improved over the years, I do hope so.... :-)

@poopdungeon You probably wanted to say that Firepower 2000 title screen looked exactly like the SWIV's, which is not strange since Firepower 2000 was sort of a SWIV port/sequel for SNES (where it was also called Super SWIV) and Sega Genesis (where it went by the name Mega SWIV). The game on consoles got more of the coin-op arcade feel in both graphics and gameplay, but I still prefer the original Amiga version!

Some of the best music on the amiga for sure...superbly dark intro and some great sample sequencing thrown in there....except where the musician goes nuts at 2:10 and it goes completely tuneless! Don't know what he was thinking there?! Apart from that yes, it's deffo one of the best game intro tunes. Anyone know who the musician was, Alistair Brimble maybe, sounds a little like him?

The bass and the synth just do not go together during that section, but hey it's a small price to pay for what is otherwise a great track, and it still fills me full of nostalgia when ever I hear it, along with some of the great demo scene music, in particular Nuke from Anarchy. His music was so good, especially what he composed for their 1991 seeing is believing demo.
