Most of the good writers I know in fandom (the one I'm in is sports) are women in their 20s & 30s with degrees who write alternate-universe stories & character studies as a hobby.
I think it was Alice Cooper who said about interactions with fans "You probably wont remember it but they will never forget it"
Lol I’m quite sure he doesn’t remember hanging out with me for a few hours at the Whiskey on Sunset Strip one night but I haven’t forgot it. He even gave me a business card with his name, it said Al Cooper on it. I spoke with him for about 30 minutes before I even knew who he was, he wasn’t quite looking like he usually looks on stage… obviously. He was so intelligent and interesting and a complete gentleman. Fun fact: I also spoke with OJ(before the terrible incident) for a bit before someone told me who he was. I’ve always been very bad with faces. Moved to small town, with a child involved in various activities… baseball parents, teachers, friends parents, etc. (people I’ve seen less than 15 times and spoke to once) will be standing right next to me or walk past me at a store and only until they say something to me do I realize I know them. Even then sometimes I’ll need something to jog my memory. I know people probably think I’m super rude or stuck up 🥺 or maybe just stupid 😂

I know plenty of people with the BEST memories but they can’t seem to remember faces of people they’re not very close with especially celebs. Lol this kinda makes me wanna start reading fanfics again... i was really into reading fanfics when i was in like 8th/9th grade, maybe a little later (& im not that big on reading in general) but now im in my 20s & prefer online roleplaying over reading fanfics
Update: now its been 2 days & I'm 80 something chapters (each chapter being 1 page in this case) into a 162 page Supernatural fanfic & im having wayyy more fun reading it than i thought i would 🤣
2+ months later & counting update: i finished that previous story forever ago & I've read sooo many stories, imagines & one shots since then 🤣
Update: a year, probably upwards of 2 years later & i kinda lost interest in reading fanfics again for the most part but still occasionally try to read them a little. Mainly Supernatural or WWE though

I'm glad he realised that it's not JUST younger fans who write fanfics bcos there are literal adults who write them esp from younger perspectives abt older ppl and it's GROSS.
Not saying it's 100% ok for a 13yo to do it but it's even more messed up for an actual adult 18/21+ to write from the perspective of a kid and then sxualize it.
I'm 16 and I love Ronnie v much and loved him since the day I left the womb (💀💀) my oldest sister (27) got my other sisters(19 & 13) and I into his music and none of us are that crazy to write fanfic abt him or other celebs.

I think people write this stuff to escape from reality and when you find something that give you hope and a way to vent you write. I use to write a lot of fan fics about different artist to get out of whatever I was feeling. It does seem really strange but people do this. It's called fanfiction. People like to write about their fantasies or fears. That's how they deal with out of control emotions. I've written stories in my head about you as well, I just dont post them. Especially since I die in all of them. But anyway, I dont think it should be taken down.
Everyone have fantasies about their heroes. Writing it down is weird but harmless. Sharing it to the rest of the world? SUPER WEIRD. Reading other people's badly written fantasies? Batshit crazy. Fanfiction is the cringiest form of litterature.
I disagree. You can have fantasies, you can write them down, but when you post it with the name of a real person this person should have the right to have it taken down. You shouldn't even be allowed to post it.

So, I have to admit I started reading fanfics when I was 12yrs old and writing them when I was 16, I'm now 38 and have written hundreds of stories. However, I quit writing fanfics and started writing for real many, many years ago and the fics were a good way to get my writing style figured out. Do I recommend others start out that way? Ehh, I don't know. It worked for me at the time and cured a lot of boredom and I felt more inspired to write when I had an audience. But I grew up and moved away from that stuff when I was around 21 and wanted to focus on becoming a real author. The stories flowed from me easier when I wrote the fics, but there's only so many ways something can be written before it becomes mundane and overdone. I wanted to give my readers something better than fanfics so I started writing non fanfics and posting them. A name may have been used of someone just to start my process of changing my stories from fanfics to just straight fiction but the likeliness of the person baring the name was changed into a character that didn't match the description of the real name person. Eventually none of my characters were based off real people anymore, they were all fictional characters I created in my mind.
