Probably because they've known all along he wasn't good enough. Sounds very much like they want Kimi Antonelli in the team in the next few years.
With all the speculation re the 2nd seat @ Meredes there is no mention of Liam Lawson ?, in any team; or is he tied to Red Bull for a F1 seat in 2025.
Perez would be better for the Mercedes seat. But he stays at RBR. Sainz goes to Audi. Alonso stays. Ricciardo to Benz.
Alonso or Albon. Maybe Perez. A bit more stable car would suit him better than tricky RB.
Vettel, Sainz or Riccardo. I would also consider Liam Lawson and Schumacher.
Why would Red Bull let Liam go ? They could find him a seat soon.
