Whow - Tapio thank you for teaching me so much - in such a short video -what a beautiful clean well prepared boat - lots of miles and thought has gone into this preparation.. good luck..
He is not screwing around. Very well thought out approach. Unlike a lot of the competitors cruising yachts, this is totally built for the task at hand. That bulkhead system is genius.
It speaks volumes about uncertainty, that Tapio probably is the most prepared sailor and boat in this GGR safety wise, yet all the preparation were not enough to deter the unimaginable, the hull cracked open and the boat sank within minutes east of Cape Hope. He barely hadime to launch his liferaft.
I feel I missed half of Tapio's most interesting interview due to both my own hearing degredation as I approach my 7th decade as well as Tapio's low monotone way of speaking, that half of what I hear is a droning mix of syllabic tones.
I’m sold on everything he said. What a sailor.
now theres a sailor who knows what hes talking about. wouldnt be at all surprised to see him on the podium.
The most impressive boat in the competition, so well thought out. Well done! Best of luck!

Great sailor, fair winds Tapio!
Sad to hear Tapio’s boat sank, but glad he got out safely. The boat seemed very well prepared. I hope more details come as to what happened

It would have been nice to see a bit more of his boat
The sailboat is like a Swan 36 from 67.
The Dodger / washboards arrangement looks good.
That swan was basically a fin keel version of this boat, both s&s designs developed from a previous s&s design
Really like this one
Yes, very interesting

Glad Tapio is safe, unfortunate loss on Asteria unique vessel.
Sounds like he knows what he's doing
Looks like his tested safety gear worked. That's why they have these checks.
Unfortunate that this boat just sank.
Really odd. All these safety measures, I read it went down by the stern in minutes. Has me really wanting to know what happened.
so sad to think all of this gear is now resting on the bottom of the ocean
