Appreciate your honesty here Sam. For me I thought for years that I wanted a career is photography, and I was always so sad that it never got off the ground. My solution was that I found a steady job that I really love, and is fulfilling, and photography became a hobby. Surprisingly I didn’t realize how much I hated photography because I was trying so hard to make a living from it. Now I see it for what it is, a creative outlet and am slowly learning to love it again. And in so, I’m learning to “protect” my hobby, because sometimes making things for other people can burn us out, or trying to please everyone with your pictures will also lead to burn out. Anyways, I LOVE your photog style and it’s truly inspiring. All the best on your downtime :)
I'm not a pro photographer, but I have a passion for landscape photography. I always lack inspiration in the winter months with the dull, rainy weather on the East coast of England. I always look forward to the spring when nature comes alive, days get warmer, and the light is more golden.
I feel like for me my lack of inspiration has just been my location. I’ve been wanting to get more remote work instead of being where I’m at since my businesses physically require me to be there but just been wanting to travel more 😢
Since you're practicing your audio mixing skills, I'd like to make a suggestion: try using a hipass filter on you voice track, I feel like it has a bit too much bass to it. I'd also suggest to experiment with some more compression/limiting on your voice, to make levels more even when your head bounce off the mic. Thanks for the video and for sharing these bits of wisdom with us, it's great content. 😊
Really appreciate your candor here ✨ Btw. Your “Taking Time to Slow Down” video is one of my favourites. As is your collab road trip w Willem Verbek (I’ve watched it at least 10 times).
I'm a Brazilian photographer and I have a vlog channel, where I try to approach the life of a black man, photography and etc, I'm trying to maintain the quality and frequency, if you can stop by, I'll be grateful

Going through this exact problem in my photography career. The lines get blurred when you pursue your passion as a business. Appreciate the honesty! I have had a slow couple of months, but it has allowed me to focus on learning video and video editing. It is essential to work on personal projects to keep creativity flowing. It is also nice because you can do things on your own terms. Thank you for the video! Always appreciate honesty.
Thx for this man. I'm in a deep and long "funk" myself I'm losing my father to cancer and photography which has been my creative outlet and hobby just isn't cutting it anymore... I'm thankful for videos like this that inspire me to get out there again but it's hard still but your work is amazing and woke that itch, thank you. Would you mind sharing your Fuji settings/recipes what raw editor do you use? Thanks and keep up the good work you never know how or whom you touch/reach when they need it! ♥️
Thank you very much for that video 🙏, timing couldn’t be better! (Probably has to do with the fact that weather is dull where I am right now too…). Anyway question regarding private projects (could be a subject for a video too) how does it work with the models? Is anyone paying anything? Do you go through agency or looking for freelances? How do you find them? Is there a contract between you guys?
Perfect timing for a video like this..great reminder to switch up scenery. Also been applying at home whether it's new artwork on the wall or a new plants ect.

this year WINTER was a lot of downtime
Very timely! thank you for the video!
Hey Samuel,
Do you sell your presets??
Thanks for the great tips!
Love this dude. See you soon.
Hybrid shooter have a hard time finding a system that hits all the buttons for me. Currently stuck between A7R V purchase and Canon R5. Any thoughts?
R5 hands down for me. Haven’t used much of the Sony system but I think canon has a better look and feel overall. Obviously just an opinion
@@SamuelElkinsPhoto no sir! I appreciate your feedback as someone who’s work I admire. Thank you
