It can definitely be challenging! We need to remember that what's happening is what's happening and, as Byron Katie tells us, to quit arguing with reality. Then we can focus our energy on choosing the best possible response rather than complaining about what's troubling us!

Great video Brian, I like the 4 step action plan. Maybe it can help empower me, to start take action Usually it stems from worrying if I will be received properly, or that people won't like me. Or that people won't be attracted or interested in being apart of what I am doing. It's like my thinking sets me up for failure, and expects me to not succeed. I also really like the arguing with reality bit. I think the complaining I do really dis-empowers me and clouds my life with bitterness and resentment. And distorts my outlook on things. But who would I be without my complaints? It;s like my complaints only serve to keep me in my familiar, little bubble; consumed in my own drama, and story.
