Check out all portions of the drive shaft. Right off I cannot recall the correct name for it, but something like pillow bearing or isolation bearing. It stabilizes the drive shaft in the mid section of the chasis. One of those was failing on a GMC one ton dualy we have and was not stabilizing the shaft to the frame. Made a similar sound. Sure wish I could recall the proper name of the item, but at 82 years old I am glad I when I wake up each morning and still know my name. Nick, North West Farmer (Oregon)

Just an update. It is a problem with the AFM Active Fuel Management lifters when it goes into 4 cylinder mode. Stop driving right away and buy a AFM disabler. Easy plug and play in the OBD2 port. Of course I would get one of these disablers before any problems if your reading this. Hoping this gives me more time before the lifters go bad further and major overhaul with non-DoD kit, new engine, or new vehicle.

My 2016 Yukon XL w/ 5.3 just started making this exact noise. Will do it at pretty much any speed. I noticed it occurs when applying just enpugh pressure to the accelerator to maintain a constant speed. If I accelerate just a bit or take my foot off the gas pedal the noise goes away. If anybody knows what this is I sure would like to know.

I am still trying to figure out this exact noise on my vehicle. Did you find out what it was?
