Wow, I just bought a project DelSol to try autocross. I'm now subscribed and am thinking that one of those UEL headers is in my future. It's like the best of Subaru and Honda combined. Mine came modded with unknown headers, 2.25'' all the way back through a high flow cat (delete?) and a Megan exhaust. It's super loud. I bought a used Vibrant exhaust that I'll put on to hopefully quiet it down.
Hey man! Congrats on the purchase! I’m excited to hear of another Del Sol joining the auto cross world, it is not a popular car to track! Oh cool! I’m guessing your original exhaust probably had that famous Honda rasp. Ya that vibrant muffler will help tone the raspiness and the uels would be a great compliment! Do note in terms of performance I’ve read from others and experienced maybe a slight increase in low end torque but high end suffers (not much). I’m not looking to set record times at the moment I’m just looking to have fun, learn and have a nice sounding Honda. If you do get the uels I’d buy them while they last, I’ve noticed they can go out of stock for months at a time and I’m not sure if 1320 will continue making them for to long… Thanks for the subscription I appreciate it :-) I should be heading down to my local track in the next few weeks, super stoked!

@@soaringfilms3656You never got a reply so I’ll put in what I’ve felt. I bought $40 in scrap metal and built my own very similar to Chris’s. Targa top on or off it doesn’t matter, thing handles amazing and no longer shakes beyond 50 with the top off. Even with the top on you can feel a huge difference. It feels like it responds to the wheel faster and has less body flex so it just responds to turns much better. Honestly out of all the suspension mods I’ve done, rear sway bar, coilovers, 3 point front strut brace, rear subframe brace, and the targa top brace. Targa top brace is my favorite
Hey super weird question so im in cali i have a teg im gonna put the uel headers on but i dont know if i wanna keep the cat or go high flow cat, so my question is how much louder than like a normal catback or stock exhaust do you think it is? Is it something that you think would get you pulled over extremely quickly or is it quit under like 3k rpms with the high flow, thank you if you respond also nice del sol my girl is looking for one rn.
Hey man! First of thanks for commenting. I’ve heard about those exhaust laws in cali being very strict can’t go over 95 decibels or something like that? My current setup with magna flow high flow cat(the one that came with the uel) and magna flow muffler is considerably louder than stock. I would say it’s slightly louder than a normal Honda catback without uel’s. It’s still loud under 3k. I would recommend u keep your stock cat and go with a quiet exhaust like a yonaka exhaust. Couple of Honda uel guys running that and it’s sound super clean and isn’t loud, almost sounds stock with the slight rumbliness. Couple of sound clips on youtoube with that setup. @@soaringfilms3656 yeah haha I just wanted to see I want my car to be loud but not be stupid loud and I have the skunk 2 cat back which from what I heard is notorious for being really fucking loud which I personally don’t think is true but I got the smallest diameter piping one and still have a cat, I’ll have them weld on a flange so I can connect it to the cat and if it’s not loud enough I’ll put a hi flow cat
@@soaringfilms3656 also weird comparison I just don’t want it to be louder than my friends 6.1 liter challenger he put a muffler delete cya back that has a x pip and Aslong as he is under k rpm’s it’s not too noticeable
Oh cool curious to see how that sounds post some clips when it’s done! Also worth considering over time my exhaust got less loud/ raspy after breaking everything in. I think you should be fine but ya with any exhaust just cruising you’ll be fine but do a good lookout when doing high end pulls ;-)
Wow ya that thing must be loud with that x pipe especially at WOT. If you find ur setup still to loud with the cat what you can also do is buy a Yonaka or HKS muffler and have the shop weld it into your cat back to replace the skunk 2 muffler
I got a Single Cam Del Sol that i'm planning on doing stuff too, may not go UEL because I like that Vtec sound too much, but I'm probably gonna do some cams, coils, strut tower bars for some stiffness, maybe a Turbo build later, (also am considering an N/A B20V Swap for that torque and the Heavy cam switch)
That’s awesome ! Ya UELs is more for sound than any performance gain… If you can find a B20 I’d go that route and make an NA monster! Also consider adding a rear sway bar! The SOHC del sols didn’t come with rear sways and could really benefit from one!
Hi, I don't own a delsol, actually I own a 2015 yaris with a 2nzfe motor "1.3L", currently have a 1.75" midpipe and a ganador rapido muffler, planning to do a UEL header on it, do you think I should remove the resonator or keep , your responce will be much appriciated thanks 🤩
From quickly looking at videos on youtoube your muffler it seems it doesn’t cancel out high frequency. I think if you already have a midpipe, muffler and delete the resonator it’ll sound raspy even with UEL’s. I would go with keep the resonator for now it’ll probably sound cleaner and deeper that way and if you feel later down the road it’s not to your liking, remove it! 😊
@@soaringfilms3656 thanks i'll keep it for now than by the way the 1320 headers would you happened to know if they used 2" pipes for the 4 runners cause I checked a lot of listings for the 1320 uel headers no info about it is available it only says the collector is 2.5" , the reason I asked is no aftermarket company makes UEL headers for the yaris so i'll have a custom one built by a local shop, planning to memeic the design of the 1320 uel for the d series for my yari's engine since they are similiar in size, i'm torn if I should use a 1.75" or 2" pipes on the runners, your answer to this will be a big help 😁

Hey! I got it from a company called 1320 performance. The header i have on now is made for D series engine. They also have some for B series engines. So whichever engine your del sol has get that one. One thing to note if you’re from USA it seems 1320 stop shipping there due to emissions or smthing so check with the company to arrange how to get it shipped to you.

Pretty expensive but low miles! Keep consistently checking online everyday use low to high price filter and try to look beyond your city. You’ll find one man! And hold on to it for awhile when you get one it will increase even more in value. :-)
If you can buy both that would be ideal! But if you can wait, S2K all the way! Can’t beat the fact its one of the only RWD Hondas out there and definitely more sought after compared to the Del Sol. Or another option. Buy that clean Del Sol for 8k. Sell it in 2025 for 20k and use the funds to import a S2K! Think of it as an investment!
thank you for responding, i have a d16y7 mini me swap. what do you think this would sound like with a magna flow high flow cat, vibrant resonator and a yonaka muffler? uel headers of course. trying to get alittle deeper and have as much rumble as possible. w/o typical honda rasp
My pleasure. I think that would sound great! It’ll probably be on the quieter side and less throaty though so maybe try running just the muffler and high flow and if you find it’s to high pitch the resonator would help take care of that. But I don’t think you’ll get rasp running yonaka and high flow plus the uel headers will do the most in reducing that Honda rasp.
Your build. But honestly if people love this Boxer engine Subaru sound just buy a Subaru and straight pipe it with unequal length headers . And NOT ruin the PERFECT Honda sound of Vtec and the efficiency .

They just started making them again and they have a turbo versions now
picked up the same set of headers for my ek hatch, can't wait to install them

I just wanted to ask you if it compromises the performance, I love the sound but I wanted to know if it improves the performance or just the sound.
You might see a slight increase in low to mid rpm. At high rpm it seems comparable to stock. It’s mostly for sound but it definitely adds seat Hp

trying to get the same ish sound. when you say you have a high flow cat, is that after or on the header?
High flow cat converter would be mounted after the header (chop of your stock catalytic converter and place the high flow converter in its place)

Headers and pipes on four cylinder just never understood it, always has a horrible sound zero tone
