Here's the recipe for the Red-and-White Fruit Mold:
1 1-pound can (2 cups) fruit cocktail
1 package raspberry or strawberry flavored gelatin
1 package lemon flavored gelatin
1 cup boiling water
1 6oz can frozen lemonade concentrate
1/2 cup mayonnaise or salad dressing
Drain fruit cocktail, reserving syrup. Add water to syrup to make 2 cups. Heat 1 cup of mixture to boiling; add raspberry gelatin and stir to dissolve. Then add remaining syrup mixture.
Pour gelatin mixture into a 6 1/2 or 7 cup mold, or pour equal amounts into individual molds. Chill till firm.
Meanwhile dissolve lemon gelatin in 1 cup boiling water; add lemonade concentrate. Blend in mayonnaise. Chill till partially set; then stir in fruit cocktail. Pour over first layer and chill till firm.
Unmold individual salads on rings of pineapple, and trim each with a ruffle of leaf lettuce. For elegance, serve salads on platter centered with luscious, fruit-filled Honeydew Bowl.

I think the color of that dress looks gorgeous on you. It really goes well with your skin and hair.
Thanks so much!
Culinary secret tip: when creating fruit bowls... they usually won't share this tip. It goes for deviled eggs as well if you don't have the egg platter... with your knife cut a piece off the bottoms to create a flat surface, it's just a sliver of your melon bowl or egg that is too round to just make it flat so it won't slide or roll over. You can even do it for stuffed peppers or stuffed tomatoes as well. Very handy to do. Beautiful job. Yeah, whenever you mix fruit into jello, be prepared for an overnighter. My all time favorite is the retro green jello salad with the cottage cheese mixed until it. It's the only way I'll eat cottage cheese lol. Thank you for sharing. Take care.
Your bond with Jonny Cash is something so special. It’s on a very deep level, I can tell. Quite magical. 🌟
Darling dresses! You look fabulous!!
Yes for sure! He’s my little shadow.
She’s so pretty, I love the aesthetic what a cool era
Thanks so much!
@@LaciFayTheVintageGirlNextDoor you’re welcome 😁
very much so.
Hello from KY love you and your channel. You make everything look delicious.I live the fact that you love and live in 1950's attire.I was born in the 50's.It was a wonderful time.Window shopping at Christmas, people were courteous to each other,no locked doors, simple time indeed, meat market etc. Then came up in the 60's look out world, that is where everything and everyone changed.stay safe💜💜🙏🙏
Mr. Cash has eyes only for you! That boy loves his mom!
Yes! He’s a babe!
Ate plenty of jello and mayo in the 60's once I snuck into the kitchen and was taking a big bite anticipating whipped cream but it was mayonnaise.
Hahaha oh noooo
@@LaciFayTheVintageGirlNextDoor it was quite horrible.
I felt a gag reflex just from reading this 🤮☺
@@MichelleH1791 I spit out.
Ohhhhhhhhh 😝
I too am a child of the 80's and love vintage. Jell-O was the "desert" of my childhood and for many others, perhaps that is the 80's/50's connection? I love this.. I will be trying it for sure and btw cute little molds
That is true!! Ahh thanks so much!
Nobody:
Laci: We're making Jello with Mayo!!
😆
It looks beautiful, sweet girl!!
Haha yes!! Thank you!!
I LOVE the Care Bears on your dress and skirt!! My husband bought me a Care Bear for Christmas a few years ago because I had always wanted one as a child and never got one. It was a huge surprise.
Hi, oh how I remember the Jell-O dishes from the 60s.Brings back fond memories. Thanks for sharing them with us. You look beautiful! With your hair and that dress you could easily be a movie star from days ago. Enjoy your week and I’ll see you again soon, Dolores ❤️
Loved your dress it is so pretty!! Also love every time Johnny cash makes a appearance 😻
I love the vintage recipes. My mom had the whole set of the cook books. It brings back great memories. I cooked many hours out of those books. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Laci, good memories of Jello and Mayo! Had it at every get together when I was little and always loved it! 💜💜👏👏
...some good Jello action there." Lol. This is adorable. My grammie used to make all different kinds of Jello salads and other fruit salads.
You talk to Johnny Cash the same as I do to one of my cats. I swear he understands what I'm saying! Lol.
Just love watching your videos. Your personable, kind and low key. Some RUclipsrs are too hyped up. 😊
So glad you enjoyed! Ahhh yes! I think they know what we’re saying. 😊
You have a tan ! Looking lovely ! I love that series of cook books. Being born in the late 50s, I grew up on jello with mayo and love it! We would have the more citrus flavors of jello that had shredded veggies in it like carrots and celery with a dollop of mayo on top, its really delicious. The thicker (in height) the jello is the longer it will take to gel.
To make it look like a rainbow, you could layer different colors of Jello in a parfait glasses.
That’s a good idea!
You look absolutely beautiful in your dress ...I've noticed in all of your 1950's desserts the flavours are really weird but it fun watching you prepare them and watching your facial expressions when you try the finished dessert priceless ...love your videos looking forward to catching up on your life feed.
Laci You are such a kind hearted person your videos make me happy and I enjoy watching you cook I enjoy watching you model you’re close you are such a great inspiration to me another many other women That we can be who we want to be in dress how we want to and who cares if people don’t like it. Anyway I’m gonna always love watching your videos keep up the good work Lacey and you are a kind soul we need more people like you in this world take care
Love it Laci! I have a black cat named Bandit and he talks too! 😻 Very cute dress and the jello (despite the mayo) and fruit bowl looks really good!! I love your videos! ❤🧡💛💚💙💜
Ahh yay! Black cats are the best! Thank you.
Hello first of all that dress is so adorable second that book came out the year I was born third that’s a good summer dessert and last my mom made so many jello recipes and as always your makeup and hair is just Amazing 😊
Her just having this life is amazing! I mean back in the 1950s it would be amazing back in the day it would be so much fun, color full, and full of music or yeah
What can I say, I love Jello and it looks delicious. Super beautiful outfits. Just love all things vintage and it looks like may like the food too.
You look adorable! Great dress, great color, great recipe!
Thanks so much!!
Good ol' jello and fruit cocktail a fond memory from my childhood. You did a fabulous job on your jello fruit salad dish.
You did a great job on what I consider a harder recipe, lots of steps and waiting for it to set up. The melon looked difficult for me, too, but you managed it quite well. I just tried watermelon stars one Memorial day and ended up in E/R with stitches in my pointer finger. You did great on both and it really looked like the picture in the book. You looked adorable fixing it in your retro kitchen. I love just watching you try these recipes and being surprised when it tastes good. Such fun.
Hello Laci! I am so glad to see you are doing well and I hope things are going better for you. Thanks so much for continuing to film. I for one always look forward to them. Much love from Rachelle:)
Great! Love wacky-vintage recipes!
Hi Laci, Love your Care Bear dress. It looks so cute on you 😊 Thanks for sharing a throw back jello fruit dessert. Yours turned out so pretty. 💖
You have gave us a new idea! The mayonaise here! Then we saw the mayonaise in your chocolate cake! Then we went online to see since when this was a thing and it turned out mayonaise is a old secret to make and keep the cake moist and perfect! So thank you!!! We love your vids! Old fans that never comment but now we had to lol ❤️❤️❤️
Ah, memories. This recipe & several others were mainstays for my one Grandma. She also made several different vegetable salad Jello molds & aspics. My other Grandma was not as adventurous. She invariably made Jello w/fruit ring mold. When she served it there was always a small cobalt blue bowl w/mayo in the center.
The recipe looks really cute! And pretty simple to make with stuff you'd already have. Though I would replace the mayo with a vanilla pudding packet.
One thing I learned, the hard way, was always look up what the volume is when a vintage recipe says "can of" or something close. Sizes change... Nothing like a ruined dessert to teach you that.
The mayo does seem weird, but with all the sugar from the Jello and the lemon aide; I think adding whipped cream or pudding would make it way to sugary.
I was totally transported back in time
By this recipe so very fine!
Wow, such a pretty desert fit for just about any occasion. Love the dress as well. I'm going to try this recipe but I'll have to try to find some jello molds first. When I was a child we called Jello nervous pudding and for some reason we thought it was hilarious, probably because my grandmother hated it, lol.
You look adorable Laci!🥰 Those dresses were made for you doll!💕
Wow, you totally made jello look stunning! I so would try that, even with the mayo situation 😃Fabulous fifties party food!🥳Xx
🚨PETITION🚨: Mr. Johnny Cash requires his own segment of this channel! Whether it be his own show w/Laci, vintage cat accessories and clothing, SOMETHING!! The bond is too strong, he is too cute for just the opening clip at this point! We want more!! We REQUIRE more!! We DESERVE more🤣❤ FIGURE IT OUT LACI!!!! #mrjohnnycash #vintageneighbor #petition
Hahaha you’re right. He definitely deserves more screen time.
I'm having Grandma flashbacks. My Grandma made summer jello salads for years & years. She was lovely and sweet and fun and, despite the jello, a great cook. She was born in 1909 and passed away in 2003. Thanks for reminding me of sweet summer vacations at her house. Lastly, those carebear dresses are amazing! I love them. My little brothers were Carebear boys, born in '79 and '81... watched a lot of those cartoons with 'em. It's happy memory day. 🙂❤😊
Ahh what fun memories!
Can I just say I love your videos? And being a crazy cat lady is becoming the norm and I'm so loving seeing your kitties in your videos as well. I like jello, I'm not a huge fan but I'll eat it. Turned out really cute!
I love the mayonnaise recipes! I love your care bears dresses omg so cute! 😍👏✨
Now I wanna try this recipe😋😋😋
Making fruit jello today but not as fancy as yours “There’s always room for Jello”!
lol! I love it! Actually looks like a fun summer recipe!
I thought about you this weekend. Went to a thrift store and I never have any luck, but found 2 pieces of Fire King wheat pattern. I saw some other vintage things and thought Wow Laci would love that ☺
A vintage jello recipe I’ve used is a three tier Jello salad with one layer made using lemon jello mixed with cream cheese. Delicious! Love all your hard work and dedication to live and share the sweet era of the 1950s. Well done!
You could try turning the jello out onto the turner and then slide it off on the rings. Great video, jello was all the rage in the 50's.
I actually was raised on that cookbook and it’s so fun to watch you bring it back to life! Looks fantastic as you do always! Really enjoy your delightful episodes! Thanks for being you!
my ma made jello salad all most every day for my snacks i love and still eat the one she made with cottage cheese my favorite....she had the whole collection of cook books from the 1950's
hiii, I really love your videos and I hope you have a lovely day!
Thanks so much!
What a fun recipe!
I'm a 🍓"Strawberry Shortcake" fan myself.💗
Yes!!! I still have all of mine!
Okay Laci.... I had to show my husband this video because of your Care Bear dress and teddy bears!!! I cant even! You outdid yourself! Love this video!! The melon statue and goodies!! Awesome! And then the pink velvet couch!!! Where was that? You are incredible!!!
Everything looks terrific! Love jello, I would try it with the Mayo...why not? 😀 Those dresses are gorgeous...I almost ordered one but not sure of the fit plus I really don’t know where I’d wear it. But they are gorgeous. You look fantastic in all of them. 👍😀🥰
My Mom used to make all kinds of recipes with Jello in the 60s, 70s and probably into the early 80s. I don't remember if there was mayo in it or not but I do remember the Cool Whip..
Laci, I love watching your videos and I think I figured out why. You remind me of my Mom! She passed away in 1984 so I haven't heard her voice in a very long time and that could be why it's taken me this long. The only difference is that my Mom talked a lot faster (we're from New York). She dressed the way you do until the 70s. I've seen lots of pics from her single days in the 50s of her wearing 'party' dresses. And, your aprons! My Mom had tons of them! I had a box of some of them but I don't remember what happened to it. I moved around a lot in my 20s and I probably lost a box in every move.
Thank you so much for your bright, fun videos! And, for bringing warm, sweet memories of my Mom!
I hate Mayo but love to watch you make your vintage recipes. My parents were married in 1958 and I can remember Mom making recipes like this when I was a kid in the 70’s! 😊❤️
Love to see Mr Cash 💜 These recipe videos are so fun!!!
Love the starburst earrings.
Love your channel! You are just the sweetest. Would love to see you do A Day in the Life or Clean with me. All the best!
More retro recipes but Dinner food pleasee!!!! Love your channel :)
Live your dress because care bears make you smile. I'm going try the dessert. My Granny always made jello desserts and I love them. Thank you for sharing. Happy Memorial Day to you and your family. Love from Texas🥰🥰🥰❣
Yes they do! Thank you! You too!
Your channel is growing so much! Im so happy for you!
I'm so glad you did this recipe! I look at a lot vintage or retro recipes and think they look a bit... over the top. But this turned out lovely! I have several of the same small mold and was thinking I could do this, but too bad I don't have a little variety in my mold collection, lol. I think the different molds you have gave the dish charm and interest. I'm not sure how well it would travel, especially in warm months, but this would be great if you had some ladies over to your home to play bridge or something!
Your dress is so awesome. Care Bears are the best.
I love the fact you are living the way you want, I have the same thing for 80s, greetings from Poland
That dress is soooooo beautiful 😍🤩🥰 it fits you perfectly 🤗
That looks beautiful and delish!
In any sweet recipe that calls for mayo (which is invariably 50's/60's recipe's) you can substitute sweetened condensed milk for the creaminess; that's also why your jello didn't set right. Freeze the jello instead if you add something that isn't water/jello so it'll set quicker. And don't worry about any ice crystals; they can thaw in the fridge once it's all set.
Lovely, as always, Mrs. Fay.
I do like mayo, but not sure I'd like it in that, but it does look delicious! Looks really great too 👍 I wonder if cream cheese would work in that recipe. It does look like a cool thing to make for a summer get together, thanks enjoyed watching, the clothes are beautiful too! 😃
It really was good! Thank you!
It turned out SO CUTE!! I love the end result, this makes me wanna do Jello so bad now!
Its always a joy watching your videos their bright, colourful, framed and shot really well and you always look immaculate.
Whenever my mother read mayonnaise, she would substitute Miracle Whip. Love your channel
Love that dress! So pretty!
Beautiful I love 50s style food. You have such great style!
Thank you!!
Yessss. This was amazing! Maybe next time I see a vintage Jello recipe book at the thrift shop, I won't pass it up!
Yay! So glad you enjoyed! Yes. Grab it for sure!
Awwwe Johnny Cash said Momma! 🐱❤
MY Orange tabby does too 😼 Love the 80s & 50s dress! 👗 & all the dresses are Fab!Such fun to make the jellos!🍛 i'm so going to do this 😀🤗 thanks so much Laci !
Ahh what a sweetheart! Yes! Let me know how it comes out!
Love it!!!!!!!! Even my Grumpy bear agrees. I see a lot of people swap out the mayo for cool whip, and I wonder. Am I the only one doing the same with sweeten condensed canned milk? Nothing against cool whip, I like that too, but for many of the jello recipes I have from my mom, and books, condensed milk adds a richer taste, and texture comes out closer to the mayo based ones. Laci, if you read this, please (please please please purttty purtty please with a cherry on top!) Consider dping candlestick salad! (I really recommend though subbing out the mayo on this one.) Not only is this a great holiday jello dish, it's hilarious too. No serious way to take it serious and, well. The picture of candlestick salad tells all. Lol.
~Lots of Love from my 80's care bear heart to you and Mr.Johnny.
Looks so good, definitely a fun recipe 💛
Love the molds. I enjoy Jello and still make it fairly regularly. It brings back happy memories. Enjoy your day.
Thanks so much!
Ooh is this the book I sent you that I had two of??? That's a good one, and it has some weiiird jello recipes in it.
I remember the mayo/jello desserts at family bbqs and yes they really are pretty tasty. The Care Bear outfits are lovely. Glad to see Johnny Cash was overseeing the mayo jello. 🍒
I was pleasantly surprised! Haha yes. Mr Cash had a handle on things.
Looks awesome. Great job. 🌞🌻🍮🍋
I love mayonnaise and jello. It was something served at the Nursing home that I worked thirty years ago. Wonderful share. I love your channel and this video 💯🤗❤️
Oh nice! Thank you!
I love all the colors!
Me too!
Laci, that looks delicious! My Grandmother and Mom made "green salad". It's lemon & lime jello, mayo, horseradish in a ring garnished with strawberries. Every place I take it, it disappears. Sounds gross, but it's not~xoxo
I have that salad book! It is from my Grandmother when i got married. How fun!
Ok, you've done it! You've made me want to try mayonnaise jello. You look gorgeous in the Care Bear dress too, Laci!
Haha yay!! Thanks so much Bee!
I loove all of your dresses they sure are look great on you=) you show them very well i might add =) looks like you know what you were doing with the jello 2 thumbs up! andthe presentation A+
Thanks so much!!
Thank you Laci
My Mom loved Jello salads. She made many. She made one with lemon or lime jello with vegetables. I hated it! I would try to eat the Jello without getting a vegetable on the spoon! Fruit, yes. Vegetables no! The Care Bears dress looked nice on you. Perfect for you!
Thank for sharing ❤️
Amazing dessert.!
Hello Laci! Thank you so much for sharing this amazing video! ♥️♥️♥️💝🥰💕👗👒👚🎀💄🧣👜👠🍒🎂
Hi! So glad you enjoyed!
Omg carebears. Sooo cute
Yes!!
Love your videos! Keep up the great work!!
I have that book. My cookbook collection is 1970s on back. I have hundreds including those small booklets that were free with items.
That’s awesome!
I started the collection 10 years ago.
They did love their Mayo.
Go jello. Fond memories of jello with custard. Never heard of it with mayo-but there you go 😊
Love the dresses
I still have my original 80's FunShine bear. It was a birthday gift for my 3rd birthday.
Ahh I love that!
I love your channel. You always make very interesting videos
Ahh thank you! I’m so glad!
Lacy you look fabulous. Wow. I luv, luv, luv these dresses and thank you for the discount. My mother made a lot of jellow molds that were really good. #aspic oh the lemonade concentrate...yes, I remember this. Very pretty bowl. So pretty. How was the flavor Lacy? Thank you Lacy.
