Seriously, amid all the jigging about street couple's choice, such a beautiful contemporary dance is a welcome change. This really spoke to the heart. Danced with the soul. They were practically equal. This has shown Nigel's skill more than ever since the Paso. I love him and Katya together. I have missed Katya dancing like this. She hasn't been this good since Joe McFadden.
Gorgeous dance, understated and elegant. The Final would be a lesser event without these two. Yes, can we all recognize the talent and beauty that is Katya. She has had to dim her talent for a number of years on Strictly. So great seeing her being able to dance to her fullest. Bravo!
The art direction and wardrobe really reminds me of An American in Paris. The comment about Nigel having a similar build to Gene Kelly is true!

Old Hollywood style musical theatre and modern ballet as Craig said similar to “La La Land”. Also Anton mentioned Gene Kelly like in “Slaughter on 10th Avenue” from ‘Words and Music’. Myself, I was seeing similarities with Anita and Bernardo from ‘West Side Story’ with the costuming. I really really enjoyed this number considering it was a couple’s choice dance. More of the same please 🙏🏼 I hope he’s still in the competition to absolutely smash Musicals Week 🕺🏿 🩰 🎶

This is the standard I've been wanting Nigel to show since THAT Paso! I love when concepts get mixed together especially when they look so effortless and flowy. It's like Patrick Swayze x Gene Kelly on the dancefloor, the storytelling was incredible, it was balletic, elegant, the lifts and partnering were so clean and i really felt his heart in this performance. This is the most chemistry I've seen between the two of them in ages, I loved this dance please please please keep this standard Nigel, it's so goodddddd 👏🏼 I would have liked to have seen his extension at the beginning and maybe some more wow factor steps but what a storyline and performance just wow :)
I want to see something like that Paso again but I've been waiting for them to do couples choice just as it gives so much freedom to them. This definitely had a Patrick Swayze/Gene Kelly feel to it and I loved it. It was just smooth, elegant, and you couldn't tell who was the pro. I didn't want it to end.

Ooh! I loved this! Nigel really gives it his all every week, and I’m sure his parents are looking down on him smiling their hearts out because he’s always willing to give everything a go and I can see he appreciates Katya’s training! It’s very lovely! He did quite well tonight.

Wonderful routine, classy, elegant and understated and thankfully, so unlike some other Couples Choices which have been entertaining but which have involved mainly stomping around. Nigel was channeling his inner Gene Kelly and this was a clever mix of musical theatre to a modern song. If anything, slightly undermarked. As for Katya, I don't mind how many times it's said but she is a truly wonderful dancer and choreographer who brings a sense of excitement and anticipation to the routines and who this week looked stunning in that dress.
I think we've all spotted the Gene Kelly vibe here. If they ever did a biopic of him I can see Nigel in the role.

Now that was smooth and light and lovely to watch 💕 it truly felt like a 50s technicolour musical film number which I LOVE
They were the best couple! They adored each other and their dances!! Every week there was passion. Never have a couple been done out of a final and a winning place!! Because let’s face it they would have got the public vote.

I absolutely loved this dance. Nigel’s previous vast experience in musical theatre and dance really showed here. Very Gene Kelly! He demonstrated his talent in Week 1, and again here. Katya is just awesome, she brought out his best here. A lovely story in this dance, a classic-based Couple’s Choice, such a refreshing change. Lovely to see.

My favorite from day one, but I think from now on they need to push even harder, with choreograpy and dancing to “stay in the game” with the young(er) couples. They can do it! Katya is the best teacher and choreographer, they just need a wow dance like paso from week one.

When Chantal Andrade came to see the ballroom on Univision for Televisa, Their star Sandra Itzel join her to look at a fight scene and with a shell set and underwater effects on each video round parts and video rectangles, they were wowing audience in a stage performance of Thalia's 1994 hit of a telenovela Marimar and it was a great dance thanks to her character Sergio and Angelica the wife of Gastavo Aldama and it was The Rematch when Angelica forced her for Marimar to leave even if Sergio found or married to be her best friend or the wife's husband. What a tug of war they are and we want to send some wishes to Celine Dion. On DWTS and SCD both, she had a personal stiff syndrome that lead through her illness while traveling to meet with their friends. Her voice almost came to an end because she couldn't have a touch of her songs and voice yet. We wish the 55 year old lots of luck. Chao.

Really enjoyed the retro style, choreography, and set for this dance. Nigel brought his A game. Apparently, it was worth the same points as Angela R's paso, according to Craig. If that paso was an 8, this Couple's Choice was a 10, but I think, realistically, the paso was a 7, and this was a 9. I'm right again with my predictions for Nigel and Katya's route to the final, with a Quickstep for week 9!

Beautiful, elegant - a true homage to Mr Kelly and Mme Caron! Obviously too subtle/understated for some tastes, which is a shame. Loved it and saddened by the undermarking. However, it is time for Katya to play to Nigel's strengths - i.e passion, drama etc. - it's hhis to .win as he is by far the most stylish/natural dancer and a joy to watch DANCE.

Ok couples choice is not my favourite dance style. But I do like how varied this dance can be and what I really liked about this dance was how understated the dance was. It was an odd one but I liked it for that reason and it was unlike any other one that I have seen.

I find these things soo socially awkward 🤣
They are both brilliant, and I think I know why the judges are being overly critical. They have to be to at least one couple every season.
It’s sucks and it isn’t fair, but I think they’ve been particularly critical of Nigel (and I’m not saying this is right) because of his musical background and they expect better because of it. Nigel is a fairly tough Director and expects the best out of a show he directs, so perhaps this is why he’s deemed “able to take the tough words” not by any means fair, and he should be commended for his wonderful dancing.

this dance left me feeling confused. i didnt know what to think about it, craig is right it didnt blow me away. he danced it brilliantly of course but i didn’t feel ANYTHING watching it, i didn’t get the story they were talking about unfortunately.
edit: just realising the wardrobe department must hate nigel for some reason he always gets the worst outfits

He’s got v sloping shoulders +relatively short neck so jackets will look bulky and top heavy. They do try to dress celebs to enhance body shape, + or detract from the dance. He’ll get dropped marks and comments of “awful top line” in a suit/tails. Bit like the feathers on Ellie’s shoulders the other week helped to disguise her top line!

Personalty I've never liked couple's choice, I feel like Nigel was showing Katya off more than himself, Katya doesn't need to be shown off because she is a star in her own right.
this is the one dance were there are no rules, were the celeb can go as crazy as the celeb wants, show off and say look at me look, see how talented I am and everyone just buying into it and love the pairing for it, however Nigel seemed to take a step back from this and didn't hog the limelight.
Nigel hog the limelight go for it, embrace the attention because seeing as this pairing has a lot of supporting voting fans I would like him to show himself off more.
As for the dance I thought it was pretty and nice and looked like something out of American in Paris.
I like the dance but it felt disjointed from the song choice.
