The whole process of creating the monsters is just so deeply interesting to me, such an expansive multi stage process from concept and drawing to sculpting, then prototyping, mold making with the latex, painting, and then much later coming up with electric and pneumatic system for it all. It is fascinating to watch.
I've made a latex mask once in my life and that was one of the suckiest experiences I've ever had with the hobby haha Massive plaster mold, held together with ratchet straps, filled to the top with latex, suspended it upside down above my toilet and prayed that the mold would stop leaking latex eventually. Seeing professionals deal with latex on such a scale is quite impressive.
Hey Tommy!! It's Lauren from the good ol Savini High days! (Lockjaw the alligator ought to jar your memory :P ) SO happy to see you in your element! Such badass stuff ya'll are doing over there, i may need to snag one of those dragons! Keep up the awesome work team!
the latex dept. looks like such a fkn nightmare haha I worked at a door factory and the glue we used was so gross.. Seeing those guys wearing completely covered latex pants brought back some trauma.
I'd love to know what foam product you guys use. I'm trying to create something by following the monster lab information. The first thing is the eyeball! Thank you so much!
Yeah the foam they use is different from anything I know of. A regular liquid latex like used for some props would be expensive for the volume they work at also would be heavy. They have some kind of foaming stuff that's pretty soft once it comes out
Id give Anything to be able to afford a mask for my fiance and myself, Halloween is by Far or Favorite Holliday!! What you All do is Beyond Amazing!! Life has been kicking my butt lately. I literally start my job this coming week, but they will be holding my first paycheck back, so it'll be awhile till I can treat us. Regardless...BADASS
I'm so glad to see you posting !!! It's been a long dry spell... I needed my fix, thanks Adam, Ed, Tom... love it!!! You guys are the best!!! Why is the haunted tree based in such light colored paint? Gotta make the haunted tree darker especially with the rub out... Just my opinion... I've spent many too many hours in the woods in Minnesota...
Hey ed thank you guys so much man you guys taught me everything I know about mask making but I have a question I made a sculpture of a mask but it’s leather hard can I still make a plaster mold on it or will it just not work
These are for past orders. When orders are placed if they are not in stock they go on a production list. We still have some orders to fulfill that we're placed before they were unavailable.
Keep posting! Every monster is unique!
I'd give anything to have more seasons of Making Monsters! One of our favorite shows, would love to have it make a comeback!
I could watch them making monsters all day, so very talented and a great team!

I did it a different way where I 3d printed the mold and painted latex directly on it. I can't imagine doing it another way
I have had the exact same experience as you, I will never do it again (unless I get paid for it) they make it look like it’s the easiest thing ever

Hey @distortionsunlimited, would you ever do a collab with any other spirit Halloween stores?
Loving Banshee, we added prosthetic nipples to make her lean more to the succubus side.....
Not Funny to see you guys making items that are not available on the website.
