My daily driver is a 2001 Honda Odyssey minivan and at all speeds the overall decible level of this Hyundai is less than that of my Odyssey minivan. I can't attest to the engine noise vs. my minivan if I was doing foot to the floor acceleration. It *possibly* could be different in that case. But when you're just cruising, the Sonata is VERY quiet. Keep in mind this is a V6. I'm sure the 4 cylinder would be noisier.
Well, mate, just got one. I got a 2009 GLS sparkling white with 27,000 kilometers, (17,000 miles). Fog lights, powered drivers seat, heated, 250HP v6, all that good shit.
You should change the stock Michelin tires. They are awefull in bad weather. The best tires you could get for that sonata would be Goodyear Eagle GT dual tread all weather performance tires. These tires not only look better, but they are superb on snow, ice and in the rain.
Is it true that the engine noise of the 09 Hyundai Sonata is really loud? I heard that from the interior of the car it is really loud. Is it just when going certain speeds or on rough terrain?

Same here, I have an 08 though, 130k miles. Its a hand-me-down... but very reliable, and more power than expected from a car like this.

Only thing good about the Michelins, they are quiet and have a nice ride. CONS, poor handlers, poor traction wet/dry.
