I did that 30 years ago with a. Cape gardenia it worked fine .. but mine had the funnel reversed and contained The mix and the plant .. than the funnel was put inside the lower part of the bottle a great idea as water would drip inside the underlying bottle fill the bottom and evaporating giving humidity but not keeping soggy the akadama mix ... but it was for a CUTTING ! Here is to grow aereal roots
