- If there's 2 things we love to do, it's riding our bikes and camping. Wouldn't it be great if we could do them both together? Enter... BIKEPACKING! An activity we've been wanting to try for a long time... so we decided to just go for it! With new bicycles, dry bags, and no idea how any of it works, we set out on our first bike adventure and we brought our dog with us too! So sit back and relax while 2 newbies and a dog try to go bikepacking in Mt Hood National Forest! Enjoy:)

I need more Hazel content in my life. That was adorable!
I watched 1 bikepacking video instantly and thought I wanted some of that.
Within 2 months I had completed my first journey.
Never rode soo far. But loved it
Totally hooked now. Can't wait for my next pilgrimage.
Hazel is growing up so fast! Love sleepy Hazel shot! Remember a tired Heeler is a good Heeler!
Every morning when I wake up, I always remind myself of this🤣
Sincerely,
A tired blue heeler owner😅
That looks so fun! I'm also impressed by Hazel sticking around - my dog would take off in the other direction to explore haha. The milk crate seemed to work too, but if you are looking for other solutions for when she's tired, I did get one of those k9 sport sacks. They work really well. Hazel might be slightly too heavy for what you'd want to carry on your back, but that's how I take my pup biking and it works great.
I have a heeler as well. Great dogs. Very loyal
A Strava route for not only your bike packing, but hiking adventures, would be super cool. Maybe?? BTW... go tubeless!! and bigger tires!! Keep up the great work. Love your creations.
"man, that kinda sucked" hahaha gotta love that type 2 fun😂 This looked like a great way to tire out the pup, those sleeping shots are so precious! Looks like a lovely trip. I also love Victoria's full send attitude of "let's ride across alaska" LOL
Haha wanna join on my riding across Alaska trip?! Probably won't bring the pup on that one🤣
The best adventures are often the ones that you're suffering on at the time! You still make it look easy, even when you say its hard.
Thanks Scott! Maybe we need to start sharing some of our more "challenging" moments so we can be a bit more relatable 😜😅

Cattle Dogs will go aaaaalllllllll day long.
They never stop!!! Send helppppp😅
Glad thr three of you decided to take that first trip. Keep enjoying.
Wow this is so well made. Loved every second of it!
Looked like a great time and an excellent way to exercise the pup. Thanks for coming to Oregon!
She loved it!!🐶 And so did we! Mt. hood National Forest is beautiful 🥰
-V
I can never get enough of your video's. Until the next one ✌😍
Awesome video you two!! Glad you guys made it over this way! And the pup is doing so awesome adventuring with you guys!!
Great video guys.. love how tou put it together ❤️
Little ol' pupper growing fast.
So fast! She da bes
I probably won’t get into bikepacking, but you guys are cool, especially the woof-n-sniffer, so I watched. 👏
That was really fun. I'll bet when you got back, your mind was on the next outing. You learn with each trip too.
Great video you guys 👏👏👏
We live 45 minutes from Mt Hood and it’s so beautiful! I love the mountains!!!
Just got a border collie and can’t wait for summer!!! Interesting camera shake. I assume it’s a setting in post and not an extra person… haha
What a great video guys!
Thank you 🙏 for posting our Instagram picture! 🤩😁😎
Thank you for being a part of our #WeAreNvture community 🤘

Hazel is such the perfect adventure dog!!! Great video
You guys ❤️ Thank you for inspiring us time and time again. Sending you guys the support from Singapore 🇸🇬! Whenever you go through a tough video/trip, know that real people like myself are inspired by your videos all the time! VENTURE ON 🤘🏼
I want to thank you for this video. It was so relaxing yet entertaining. I love the outdoors. Love camping and hiking. Keep it up with all these awesome vids.
John and mira (pup) have been doing that same milk crate idea for a long time. I'm glad to see it replicated and that it works to make the dog comfortable.
Yup! When we saw that guy with his dog, that's when we knew it was possible🤘and Hazel loves it🥰
-V
Glad you and Hazel got out 🤗💕🐕
Dude the milk crate is incredible! rad video. Type 2 fun is a very real thing! Much love to you and the pup!
Love this🙌
Never done bike packing and it’s something now I should definitely try next summer. Salute and blessings. 🙏
Love this and with your dog! 💕🍁🍂
I would love to have seen a map of the route. I love this area up at Mt Hood. So beautiful up there 🏔 Great video as always you two
Trail looks amazing. Thanks for sharing. A wide flat handlebar works best when carrying a dog as it's easier to counter their movements. No clue how you managed doing that on drop bars. Wouldve been sketchy!
Life's jackpot ❤
Looks like so much fun! Been meaning to get out on a bike packing trip.
You two are so cool!
i’m a few days late seeing this video but it made me so *happy* like all of them do!😃😊❤️
Victoria is freaking ripped, awesome video guys!
Nice activities, beautiful memories! ❤️😍
Great video! This was very well done. Makes me want to get out there and try bike camping. Your pup is amazing. I love the basket you have for her.
Loved it ♥️
This is SIIIIICK!!!! I def gota try this with my dog!
Amazing my friend
"Stop eating sticks!"
Taking all the fun outta camping mom!
I guess you're right🤣 What else is a dog supposed to do while camping!?
-V
@@codyandvictoria until their stomach gets upset and then you don’t want to have her ride in Cody’s crate. We are always careful with our dogs in the wild because of how bad it can get if they get sick. Yep, call us worry warts
Hehe, i can see that it's your first bikepacking :) because of all that gear, lol. When i finished our first bikepacking with my friend, we both said - next time we take half of what we had on our bikes :D
the kind of adventure I wanna do someday 🤩
HI also to Hazel. She's adorable.
Hey vikkiT!! I'm so happy you and your hubby have such an amazing life together! 😍
Love seeing you live so wonderfully!!
Happy Adventuring 💕💕
-Amanda
Only my gymnastics people know me as Vikki-T🤣 but I'm trying to remember you. What's your last name and were you at Oasis??☺️
@@codyandvictoria
It's Amanda Schultz (formally) from EMT school 😆 I was just thinking about you the other day. So happy to see you doin so great! 😍 You've always had such an amazing presence about you, I'm glad you get to share it with the world 🥰
Amanda!! Man I forgot you called me Vikki-T! Ahhh so good to hear from you🤗 If you ever make it out to Lake Tahoe, please let me know! I would love to see you🥰 Hope you're doing awesome!
-V
Love your bike paling journey.. loads of love to you guys..
🤗❤️
Make the poor dog run...😅😅😅 Great stuff, keep it up 😁👍 Been touring for ages. It never goes as planned. That much I can tell you.🙏
since she's still pretty young, its not too good to make a medium/large breed dog run too much before they're at least a year old. it causes joint and muscle pain once they're older. speaking from experience with a husky 😅
Enjoyed thank you
Cody and Vic: Video idea for you guys down the line. Make a compilation video from Hazel's perspective. Like, collect all the clips of her and tell a story in her "voice" (possibly narrated by Vic). Would be a beautiful compliment to your wonderful compilation of uploads.
Really enjoyed watching! Great trek, filming, music and commentary! New subscriber! 🇨🇦 ❤️⛰️
Love you guys first i followed you for your excellent reviews then for your Spirit and then now because you calm me down With my too much busy Life. Many kisses from France 😘
🙏🙏🙏
Love ur content guys ❤️keep it up
Alaska?!? Baby steps there Victoria. lol And ya, Hazel is adorable, glad to see she is adjusting well to the adventure lifestyle.
Also, if you want drop a van update... We wouldn't hate it. ;-)
Haha maybe we'll do a little van update soon. 😝
Great video!
Such an awesome video! Can you guys make a video or list the breakdown of your gear? Dos and donts? Thank you!
Coming soon 😝
sometimes the best things in life are just diving right into it. it usually turns out for the best!
Nice shots. Good music choice
Niiiice! I (Luke) had a couple bike packing trips in the past. Mongolia being one of them, four weeks in the saddle! 🚵🏼♀️
Nice! One day we'll get a bigger trip in there
Loved this video. Kinda hard to watch. I just lost my red healer to a cat Chase and a car. Had over 4000 miles behind me in a bob trailer. Hope you keep up the great adventures
I'm so sorry for your loss😢 Dogs are such good companions and truly become our family. But it sounds like you gave your heeler a life full of adventure and that's the best life you can give a dog💕
-V
lovely !
I love the fact that this video is 11:11 long
perfect 😂
Haha us too! A nice coincidence
You're going to need a bigger boat. Lol.
😅
Great video. Really enjoyed it. We are looking to go to that area. Do you have any names for the campgrounds you stayed in or the route you rode?
Great show guys!.. what’s the dog background? She’s a good trail dog, very attentive, pls give extra treat for me 😀👍
She's an Australian Cattle Dog 🐶
Great video guys, I always enjoy watching your videos. However, sadly my comment is more curious from a filmmaking/video editing perspective, I'm wondering how do you get the camera motion on the static shots? Janky tripod? Motion sensing gimbal? Or is it post-production wiggle on the frame?
Cody did a tutorial on this I think last year. If I remember correctly, it’s a plug-in. So he shoots a static shot on a tripod and then adds the movement in post.
@@joel_g Yeah I think you're right Joel G. Cody did some warp stabilisation mastery where you take a clip with natural hand camera motion in it, drop that above a clip with no stablisation, nest the two clips, stabilise the nested clip with warp stabliiser but with "no motion" selected and no warping, jump into the nested clip and delete the clip on top (the one with motion in it). I've been using Cody's trick for a while now, it's class.
I just bought a rigid frame mountain bike from the 80s in hopes of doing some bikepacking! I'm hoping to put together a route in spring that goes through McKenzie Pass here in Oregon since it's only open to bikes then. Until then I'll need to buy some gear and get back into better shape 😄.
If you get the route laid out send us a map of it!
amazing video
Check out Ryan Van Duzer's channel! He does lots of bikepacking!
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Y'all should also try kayak camping
Hey! I've always admired your lifestyle, to be able to witness and experience the beauty of nature so often, but I'm sure there are some aspects to this lifestyle that aren't as fun :') Hoping that you could maybe share some of that as well! (finances, preparations, etc.)
I'm curious to know if the two of you ever did any more bikepacking trips after that one, and, if you did, whether you have some words of wisdom to share with two older people who are planning on their first backpacking trip this summer, from Frog to Timothy Lake and back again.
Have y'all used the Big Agnes UL2 before? With a pup? How'd it hold up?
Hi, are you using the Marin four corners? How did it perform?. I have been waiting for the Trek 520, bregamont, surly lht, but none are available since the last one year, and the only one available is the Marin four corners. Was wondering if it would be worth spending that much. Or wait for another 6 to 8 months to lay hands on the others that I've been waiting for so long. Your opinion will greatly help.
( Any one else can also please kindly share their knowledge and opinion too.)
Thanks in advance to all who comments.
ATB,
That Travelling Guy....
What backpack is Victoria using? I really love the color
It's made by Mountain Smith!
Can u get a bigger crate for the dog ? ❤
Great trip, I enjoyed your take on it. Was it the Frog Lake loop? My wife and I just did this for our first bikepacking trip in August everything looked all too familiar.
That's the one!
Everybody has a lifestyle
Good to see you guys started Bikepacking! How do you deal with recording a video? I’m trying to capture my bikepacking travel with Sony A7C, but riding cuts are too shaky to use. Any tips on gadget or skills on video recording?
What footprint do you use with this tent and how does it fits? Thanks
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Still trying to figure out how you get that perfect handheld look when on the tripod😅 hidden camera man bts?
Haha it looks real because it IS real handheld movement. I’m mapping the movement from a handheld shot onto the static shot
I am 1000% trying this with Rogue. Much more his speed than backpacking.
Rogue would love it!! There are too many distractions when hiking. The pace is just too slow for pups. But the bikes!? It gives them a job so they're laser focused on keeping up with you! Highly recommend 🤘
-V
I wish I had places in Houston to do stuff like this,
You probably have something close! We were finding lots of trails all over the place when we did research
I've always wondered how you do camera shake when its only the two of you.
What kind of camera do you use?
How much does Hazel weigh? Thinking about doing this too Thank you
She was small here. Maybe 20lbs. She’s 36lbs now and still fits but not as comfortably. Should be fine for most small/med dogs but the bigger dogs will have to stand
Are you making tripod shots looking handheld while editing or is there a third person with you?
Cody - what handlebar bag did you use?
It's actually our tent! Big Agnes Tiger Wall. Gear video coming soon 😉
I think you need different bikes. Those seem more road worthy and not so off road ready. Just saying. Love the dog. First video I watched but I'm subscribed now. Thanks.
How did your dogs pad hold up
Do you have your route posted anywhere?
I’m the first 🤟🏻 yeahhhh
You trained your dog before?
to be honest, at this point it really bothers me that you don't get more views. you put so much effort and love into every single one of your videos, production quality is top notch and i feel like it must be stressful sometime to not get the recognition you really deserve.
one small thing though that feel just a bit too scripted for my personal liking is the conversations in between.. i know you're trying to tell a story, but the dialog just doesn't seem really natural or authentic at times but more like you've exactly written down what you want to say to each other prior to that situation. i'd prefer something that feels more "in the moment". maybe that's just me but i still wanted to let you know as an honest "criticism".
Yeah you know something about running over, setting up a tripod, and then pressing record specifically for a shot tends to kill any sort of actual authenticity 🤷♂️
@@codyandvictoria that’s where i disagree actually, it’s what and especially how you say it that just doesn’t feel naturally. you tend to speak the same as in the voice-overs which has a completely different purpose. of course you aren’t professional actors, but i think it would help a lot if you wouldn’t be so pressed about the need to say something that feels more like an analysis of your hike instead of something ordinary. just my 2 cents, i fully understand if you’re not the same opinion.
Holy those are some squeaky brakes, lol. Would Mountain bikes with bigger tires not be more beneficial on some of those trails, just curious? Looks fun!
Lol they weren't squeaky when we started the ride 🤷♂️ but yeah sure you can probably do it on any bike
two more weeks of not creating new content. I miss it enough, now it's re-created. Greetings Bikepacking 🚵🔥👐
Haha these things take time 😜 thanks for watching!
@@codyandvictoria that's for sure, I'm really looking forward to your journey with victory, what else is related to cycling. You're welcome 🔥
always healthy cody n victory 💪😀
How's your dog doing today
Great! Happy and healthy🐶
@@codyandvictoria I've gotta 5 month old blue healer if you can update your picture
