  • Psychrometric Saturday: How Biological Growth Can Form Inside Walls.
Since we don't have any idea what the dewpoint inside a wall cavity can be because we have no control over the quality vapor barrier that was installed, we cannot allow our walls to get below the outdoor dewpoint or condensation can form which leads to biological growth including mold.

ACCA manual J is correct for a large majority of the population about what they call so-called comfort window.
But then there’s a large majority of the population who is on the other two sides of the comfort zone Who finds 75° uninhabitable.
The only time I felt 75° was comfortable and my son is the exact same as me is when we were in Arizona in the summertime and humidity was 8%.
Because neither of my son or myself have ever been in 8% humidity, we both were surprised and very delighted to find out. We can actually be comfortable at 75°F.. but it had to be 8% humidity.
Even in low humidity for myself and a few others like us 75° is extremely hot and we sweat like pigs if we do any movement at all.
Even in low humidity out here in California San Francisco .
