  • Want to know exactly where the new comet will appear in YOUR sky? David Fuller of Eyes on the Sky shows you how to upload Comet C/2022 E3 ZTF's orbital elements into the free astronomy software Stellarium so you will know precisely where the comet will be from your exact location on any given date.     Hello, Mr. Fuller;
    "THANK YOU!" for another great video!
    I appreciate your comparison of comets to 'customer service'.
    Funny & very true, too.
    I've been waiting for an opportunity to see C/2022 E3 ZTF.
    I installed Stellarium, it has C/2022 E3 ZTF in it's database.
    So when I check to see if it is visible from my latitude it is low in the NE
    I have a tall stand of trees across my northern horizon.
    I also appreciate your reference to your Bortle, mine's ~4.5.
    I can drive ~12mi west to about Bortle 3 at a 'darker' site.
    If it holds or gets brighter in the next week I'll ride out to see it, the north is clear out there.
    Have a GREAT day, Neighbor!

    I caught it a week ago in Bootes, only 11-12° above the horizon! It was our first clear night for probably a month and we've barely had any since, so I really hope we'll get more chances as it gets closer!
    I could only see a really, really pale green color, but it was such a thrill to actually find it - my second comet ever, and first since really getting started in astronomy!

    thank you so much, your video it was so easy to follow, I've actually managed to get it on my screen.

    Now I want to know how to add the ISS please.

    Went out last night w/my 130mm reflector. Around 1945 local time it cleared the horizon enough for me to locate. Pretty sure I found it, and there may have been some green. Not as interesting as Halley, Hale-Bopp or Kohoutek. I'll try again next week during the close approach, but the moon will have waxed quite a bit by then and could be an issue. Just happy we dodged the asteroid :)

    Thanks Dave, is the Moon going to be problematic for observing the comet?

    • @Eyesonthesky
      @Eyesonthesky  Год назад +2

      Yes. The brighter the Moon, the harder it will be to see the comet. And they will also be somewhat close together eventually too, though I did not show that in the video very well.

    I shot the comet last night and noticed something odd besides the white streaks I guess airplanes make. I noticed a red square passing below the comet and another white dot above the comet, both moving the same speed and trajectory from right to left. Any thoughts?

    • @Eyesonthesky
      @Eyesonthesky  Год назад +1

      Without seeing the photos, it's hard to say. You might be able to determine what they were from Stellarium. There are some satellites visible in the software with the right plug ins added. I don't know how to do that off the top of my head though
