some movie don't need a sequel. sometimes writers run out of good ideas and fuck up the sequel making you wish they never made it exist. and plus what will the plot be sense their all robots now
In the context of the movie Ninja (the white dude) is manipulating him into committing crimes by giving him various excuses. Eventually when Chappie starts wising up Ninja then tells him that they need to steal so they can buy chappie a new body (I'm deliberately keeping this a vague as possible to avoid serious spoilers).
We need Chappie for health regime nazis that don't understand driving solo in a sealed off cat can't spread infections (yes, you); "telling people what to do?!! You don't oppress daddy!!" (hits you in the face)
The danger of how AI can be programmed for wrong intentions. Note: we are at the point where we can reproduce exact (historical) voices!! Imagine this as a propaganda tool in war... Or indoctrinating media items to force a message (but the media would never do that right, they are always informed and always independent from politics.. Right!! 😅).
It's a good take on a few things: How humans will use robots (AI) for bad causes (the danger of AI) How you always need to question yourself that what you've been told is righteous, is it really righteous?
What? Worst movie? I can agree to some extent that certain parts of the movie were "recycled material in a new package" but even tho chappie fails on certain criteria it is as a whole a really solid and enjoyable movie, at least a 7, maybe 7.5 out of 10. On top of that, everything surrounding this movie, Die Antwoord, their music, Chappie's voice, and acting? Maybe it didn't turn out the way you wanted it to be?
