I used the protection analysis on T-34-85 D5-T with every shell in it's BR. Basically almost every shell could penetrate it on even surface (with an exception of HE shells and some other shells). But when i bring it to Battlefield, somehow it bounces all of the shots coming from the front.
Distance plays a factor too. Also, I hate when I hit T-34s in their spare tracks which are strategically placed on the front plate. xD You might accidentally shoot between the driver hatch and the front plate. I usually go for the corners.

It has longer reload because early turret was 2-man turret and wasn't as good as later 3-man turret, more convinient for faster reloading and operating the gun.
0:02 he would've penned my turret ring and explode my ammo 0:09 my shell would go to the moon, and he would instantly turn his cannon to me, firing at my track and doing a "crew knocked out" 0:17 would ricochet, somehow 0:24 would fire while stopping, instakilling me 0:36 would fire on the move and take my gunner out, the shell I fired would go to narnia 0:43 instakills me, the killcam shows he fired at this extreme angle, but in fact he fired at my turret ring 0:51 would appear with his cannon already aimed at me, making It as easy as a left click to kill I could do this till the end of the video, I'm extremely unlucky, lol
nope, it didn't penetrate front plate but the side armor through the track. It happen sometimes to pen every panther series from that angle with soviet aphebc.

Actually the t34 85 hull (which is the same of the t34 42) was slightly upgraded: those add on trucks may not seem a lot, but take in mind that they're put in the most vulnerable spot of the front hull, on the bottom center of the upper front plate, where there's less of a slope.

this is how you play t34 1. press and hold w or press e until the highest gear(don't stop) 2. make your turret into a fidget spinner and don't let any pixel escape your view(beware of your surroundings) 3. flank harder than you think you should(get into positions which might be not expected for you to be in ie: charge through the middle of the map to fight the enemy whilst pushing to your own spawn) 4. travel around the map from zone to zone eliminating thots(map control use mobility) 5. result bonus: arcade can be fun for de ja vu 1 shoting tigor 1/2 and panthers due to properties of a ballerina on ice with a rocket booster attachments(you move at 58-60km/h spaded in arcade)
T3457 also had to be angled perfectly to bounce anything , since frontaly it's strongest part (upper frontal plate) can be penetrated by any 4.3 and even 4.0 gun (except AA) with standart aphe shells. Also the only tech tree t34 that can bounce shells is the t34e as it has added on frontal Armour
Really when they upgraded to the newer 85mm gun (not the D5-T which was a cheap, converted AA gun), the should've given the T-34-85 the T-34E STZ hull, and the extra side spaced armour of the T-34E, to give it 30mm extra front armour, and 16mm extra spaced side armour. That would give it way better competitiveness, and less prone to being obliterated by any Panther or Tiger.
As a German player i find this free xp food the panther just gooble this not only are t34 players shit. IT has no adequate armor the gun is only ok and again a tank without armor unless you hit a very bad angle that can happen for almost every tank also no deppresion

It is a good BR (I played both the Jumbo and the Panthers and Tigers) You just need to angle,and go for close range engagement,because Panthers and Tigers are much better snipers than you. Your armor will still perform good,both in Long range and Close,you just need to angle,and because of your a bit weaker gun,you have to aim for the weakspots. :)
5.0 is in my opinion good br for it. At least it doesn't terrorize 3.7 tanks anymore. And I love killing this thing angeled, from the front using my Panther by shooting in Jumbos 38.1mm plate on the side.
It's still head and shoulders above the American tanks that are, even with a 76mm, under gunned at this BR. Your biggest threat from them are the M36s. But I get the feeling this game intentionally shows little respect to the M4s, and over hypes the T34s. The German tanks at least feel about right.
I used to play this tank a lot but now I really dislike it due to the penetration changes. Otherwise in arcade I've always prefered the IS-1 because it has a better reload speed, better armor, muuuch better gun stability and reverse speed. But nowadays I play the T-34-85 as an ambush tank or a flanker. Basically this T-34 became a tank for experts. Besides that what I find annoying is that the explosive filler doesn't always one shot a Tiger from the side when my ping goes above 70.

T34s are EZ mode in general, too fast at AB (it's a damn go Kart when other Go Karts are US TDs at same BRs), and in RB that damn mobility is a bane of German Tiger Is and Panthers D and A (A can with some measures deny T34-85 the kill through good awareness of surroundings). If the engine was a max speed at 3000 RPM as are most German WW2 engines, then it would be easy to see what happens.....
