wow, excellent, one of my favorite soundtracks of all-time, it is wonderful always with the certainty that Julian will play it exactly the same and we can SEE the MUSIC, thank you Julian, I'm a big fan. The Studio seems like magical.
Knocking it right out of the park, once again. This is amazing. It's beautiful. I always felt this piece should and does lift emotions and anyone can play this piece but to be able to recreate that emotion is something else. Delivered again. Brilliant
WHAT A WONDERFUL, JULIAN :O I have to say it's one of the most beautiful you've ever recreated!!! Most importantly, the soul and passion behind those who created them shines through. I will never get tired of saying it... there is no point in making sounds well if you don't put your soul and the human touch into every note!! A myth recreated with elegance and accuracy from start to finish!!! A SUPERB work, my dear friend :) :) :)
Thank you for the kind words Kos. You are so right. And it's especially true for any of Vangelis' music. Its really great when a fellow musician like you notices those intricacies that make it soulful. Thank you. 🙏
Thanks mate. Yep, I thought it was going to be quite simple when I started, but there's loads going on beneath the surface that you just don't notice on a casual listen.
Wonderful ... from which Nexus expansion did you take the strings ? And from which presets did you create the sequence line from the start ? I'm really impressed by your work ...
@@kinishaothanks 👍. the synth strings were the Sound of the 80s expansion, blended with East West string machine. If you're asking about the bouncing bass line at the start, it's not a preset. I made it in Retrologue 2.
Did you use a string synth like ARP solina emulation for the chord in the background ? I can probably replicate that using only Arturia V collection, for the timpani and some pseudo acoustic sound i have some very good result with modeling synth like Objekt or Parsec in Reason studio, i use East West sample long time ago but it's to much waist of space since a lot of modeling VST exist that can also work with wind controler . It's all about having fun Geo. You're doing great and I look forward to watching your progress. 8 tracks! Yeah that would be a challenge for this lol. Thanks as always 🙏
@juliancroot I had a work around by saving 8 tracks to the audio track freeing up 8 tracks again. But glad I bought the full version of the DAW now to make my life easier lol. Have you got an idea for your next project?
That's pretty much how the 'old boys' had to do it back ih in the day so you're just been authentic 😁. I am working on something, but as usual I have no idea if it will get finished. There's usually a point at which I know I'm gonna make it to the end, but I'm not there yet! I'm also thinking of how to attract a broader audience without selling my soul... Might experiment with a different sort of video next.
@@juliancroot By selling your soul you mean Tiktok? lol. It could be worth setting up a channel on there but I think your are limited to 60 second videos, but put links to your YT channel. Hello, the deconstruction and reconstruction of this track are truly amazing. I'm trying to do the same thing mainly using my ears, but with other vst's like Diva for ex. However, I’m struggling a lot with some tracks to identify the melodic lines Vangelis used, as he blend it's instruments in a lot of reverb. It’s very difficult (even with AI tools) to isolate and identify the melodic lines of certain instruments, especially the ARPs he uses in this track, which run at 1/16 or even 1/32 and aren't very loud. For example, when deconstructing Spiral, I was able to fully reconstruct the ARP's melodic line using Audacity and the PaulStretch plugin. It worked very well even though the ARP runs at 1/32. I'm also trying to isolate the instruments as best as possible with Span, but it's sometimes too complex with Vangelis's tracks because the reverb blends the melodic lines together. My question is: do you have any methods or tools to suggest that help you reconstruct the melodic lines of certain instruments (especially ARPs) that are fast in the track Chariots of Fire? thank's
There's no perfect answer, but I did make a video showing how I break stuff down by ear here: ruclips.net/video/SHe_0UJymgI/видео.html However some of it may be made a little easier with high quality monitoring equipment, and sometimes I have to make a best guess of what's happening based on intuition and music theory. Things usually start to make musical sense once you get part way through the song.
Wow, that's high praise... I'm glad you liked it. Thank you. I'm playing it at the same beats per minute I calculated from the movie version. It's possible the album version might run a little slower.
