      Jamie Farr was EPIC as Corporal Max Klinger. Funny note.... Jamie's character Max Klinger was supposed to be gay initially. But Jamie felt it was funnier this way, and since his character was supposed to be a one off or a couple episodes guest, he was right. People LOVED Klinger. The Big Red Bird with FUZZY PINK FEET! That was the best. Seeing Klinger flying off in a housecoat, robe, and fuzzy pink slippers....just priceless!

    This brings back so many memories. MASH was my life right after my cousin, who is now 4 was born. It was my relaxation after helping watch her which I did quite often. And I know most people disagree with me on this one, but I loved Frank and Margaret as a couple.

    • @EdsterIII
      @EdsterIII 2 года назад +2

      I agree. They fit together. They believed the same thing, fought the same fight, and were as fanatical as the other was. They really were "Made for each other." Frank Burns may have been the antagonistic putz, but with Hot Lips he was a different person. It was cool to see his personalities swap. With Margaret he was Frank, a love stricken goofball, who flared his nostrils and for some odd reason that excited Hot Lips. With Hawkeye he was MAJOR BURNS, a person who demanded respect and abused his authority....because he wasn't ever liked as a kid so he ordered people too. He had funny moments like when he pranked Hawkeye. The 🪣bucket🪣of💧water💧over the🚪door.🚪The clogging of the Still hose, spraying his face. The shower heads only working on the opposite side Hawkeye was on. In the end Hawkeye got him back, dropping the walls on the latrine while Frank sat reading Stars and Stripes. I love M*A*S*H, and like you the memories it brings are so important. I am right in the middle of a M*A*S*H *** B*I*N*G*E. I bought the DVD set with the movie the two reunion shows, and a 📋clipboard📋 like Radar's. Right now I'm on season 7 disc 2 of 3. I watch the entire series once sometimes twice a year. I took care of my Mom for 8 years 4 of which she was bedridden, and M*A*S*H was the late night 🌙 after the News show. At one point in time prior to that, it was M*A*S*H at 10:30pm and then the Odd Couple at 11:00pm. Excellent shows, and they were my night-time shows to watch before bed. Memories.

    • @EdsterIII
      @EdsterIII 9 месяцев назад +1

      They were completely different from the others. Militant to the end no matter what. If a General told Frank to jump off a cliff he might do it. That idiocy made it funny. And adding Trapper and Hawkeye to be their foils was just hilarious. People loved to hate Burns and Houlihan. But they loved the characters none the less.

  • @ericscottstevens

    I think the reason Larry left the series as he was too closely associated with his villainous character out in public. Probably tired of being out somewhere and heckled or called Frank. I always felt he was the best actor in the early run of the series (until the arrival of Harry Morgan). Larry was loved on set for being a real generous personality. A job is a job, but there is an eventual curtain call.

    • @nickwarren9007
      @nickwarren9007 2 года назад +7

      I read somewhere that he was tired of having his character be the butt of every joke and wanted to have more character development. He apparently quit when the people that ran the show refused to do so.

    • @EdsterIII
      @EdsterIII 2 года назад +8

      @@nickwarren9007 As the tone of the series had evolved to more serious storylines, Linville felt that he had taken the Frank Burns character, which had become increasingly one-dimensional, as far as he could, and chose to leave the series to pursue other roles. Larry didn't leave over any line disputes or creative issues.

      Now I'm older I can see that he was a great actor. It's easy to play the hero type and get the last word in each scene, but to play a villain or the fool of sorts requires more skill.

    The one scene I haven't found is the ending of Margaret's engagement. She's been bragging about her new fiancé all episode and at the end Frank asks Hawkeye if he'd like to grab some nurses and go to Rosie's Bar? A red headed nurse had her eyes on him, when Margaret says, "Isn't she a little young for you Major Burns?" Frank replies. "Oh I don't know, I think a little youth might be nice for a change." As BJ looks a bit stunned and Hawkeye turns a little. That scene was the one scene that gave Frank Burns some good humor and a chance at some redemption. Sadly the next episode he went back to being the same Burns. I know that was him but a few episodes of Frank letting loose and being one of the guys could have been interesting? I know that shot at Margaret was epic, and I loved it!

      True, although of all the characters on MASH Major Houlihan probably changed the most from the beginning to the end of the series. You can learn a lot from that love angle.
      Margaret was an opportunist who saw Frank as a dildo when she needed it, and a simp when she needed one. Lots of onlyfans/thots are like that. She was playing him like a fiddle all those seasons. Col. Penobscott was a red pill to Frank in season 5, in which Frank realized Margaret really didn't love him but he still simped for her all the way to the end because he was addicted to that feeling of being loved by someone because he was never loved by anyone, and a red pill to Margaret in season 6 in which she realized she rushed way too fast into her marriage with a man who was really more like a privileged child who used her like a Barbie doll.
      Ultimately Margaret got a taste of what she did to Frank. A great way to teach the audience what true love isn't.
