I find the "Sneaker" syndrome ridiculous. Each comeback has a different genre, so you should always expect something different from ITZY. Plus, this came out before Sneakers. This was their 4th comeback as a group, while Sneakers was their 7th comeback, I believe.
It's not about the genre. The song wasn't just that good imo. Sneakers was either the first or second song Beach Boys reacted to so they don't know about the change in genre. They just didn't like the song
