That's her entire brand & after watching her documentary, she enjoys the character. We can still support her, she just needs people to support her choices because that's what she's lacked since childhood. Her parents chose to send her away instead of supporting her.

TBH, and this is just my opinion. But it seems like she uses that personality as a comfort zone. You can see whenever she feels uncomfortable she uses her high pitched voice. Its like she understands that she is two different people but one is dealing with trama and the other is just a front to create a brand. The moment she decided to be a different person was in solitary and, it seems like that is where her second persona came from. She almost has to disassociate from herself. I don't think she will ever be whole herself until she feels secure enough to let the other persona go.

I completely agree with you. And I am a survivor of physically and mentally abuse over many many many years too, so I see it in my own eyes too, in pictures etc. It is like I am smiling, but only with my mouth.
And I am laughing when with friends and family etc BUT inside I am crying and even dying.
Compared to Paris I am a poor nobody, eventhough I am not poor per definition, but I have never ever told anyone about my abuse.
I’ve made appointments, but I always cancel them just one hour before I’m supposed to be there.
And Norway have completely free healthcare so it is not that who is stopping me.
I .. I just can’t talk about it. I just can not do it.
BUT, Paris’ docu did something to me. So I dared myself to write this comment but this is as far as I’ve ever gone. And my abuse started when I was 3 yrs old and the physical abuse ended a few years ago but the mentally abuse is still going on. Maybe that is why I am so scared. They tried to convince me that I was crazy for many years too and someone is still doing that to me despite all the documentation from the psychiatrists and other doctors. They just wont accept it, the fact that I am not sick. I really do not know why I am such an easy target for emotionally and mentally abuse, and used to be for physical abuse too. Sexual abuse was the worst. Of the physical abuse. Omg I have said way too much. I hope none of them and ESPECIALLY ‘HIM’ sees this!!!!!!! Omg😳😳😱😱😱🥺🥺

You are someone special, sane, full of light and a warrior queen. Anyone else telling you something else just trying to silence and manipulate you. Please don't believe them. Believe that you are worthy and capable of finding a way out of the darkness. It will take time but there is light at the end of tunnel! I don't know how old you are and if you still have to live in this dangerous situation, but if so, try to find a trusted person, like a friend or public institution. If you go to a therapist you don't need to talk about the abuse but the therapist might help you to find a save strategy for your way out. If you can, move even in a different town, cut contact and start therapy to understand nothing ever was your fault and you don't fall back into their tricky mind traps. Understand that the people you try to convince that you are not insane, are not interested in that truth. You can't win their game. It is their strategy trying to keep you as victim and continue the abuse. And go to self defense classes. Start boxing, Krav Maga or jiu jitsu. It not only helps for the body but for the mind, giving you the strength to fight for your life. And don't feel pushed to talk about your experience. You are ready when you are. First make sure to create a save environment for yourself. Sending you all love, strength and power! You will get out of this! Take care, beautiful soul!

I disagree. It may look like that from the outside in, but it’s something different when you’re in it. She was more telling Paris I deeply understand. Sharing the commonality of the soul. It’s important for survivors to feel like they’re not alone, and I think Drew did that for her. I speak from personal experiences. I would much rather be told of a persons similar experience while I’m sharing my own because it makes one feel more like a person and more understood, rather than just examined and looked at like a specimen, an animal in a zoo or an alien. It’s comforting and makes one feel like someone else gets it. We should always try and do that for others wherever we can.

As a survivor of one of these institutions, one of the most hurtful and pernicious things they do is convince parents and children that their "treatment" was necessary or even life-saving. As someone who has worked against these programs for almost 15 years (alongside wonderful people like Katie from the documentary), I see this "the program saved your life" refrain over and over. It's dismissive and minimizes the abuse that people like Paris suffered. This abuses serious and can have lifelong effects. I urge Drew to reconsider her attitudes towards these abusive and dangerous behavioral modification programs.

But some people do that as a way to help an emotionally distressed person to pull themselves out of their own head and pain for a moment. It works for me, so its natural when i do it out of good nature to attempt to help the person. Yes it backfires! Because it doesnt work for everyone. Yes the person taking that approach will have to learn. But i promise u its out of kindness and concern rather than anything else. If it were out of anything else you wouldnt see an emotionally intelligent, empathetic and compassionate person surrounding that behaviour. But we do , because Drew is those things. WTF??? This is probably the most undermining thing Drew could have done - never ever EVER speak to someone else's trauma by saying "I went through something similar and it was actually "good" for me." Drew's experience is completely irrelevant to Paris's and all the other people speaking out. And Drew is entitled to her own interpretation of her experience (of course), but if anyone is watching this who went to one of these schools or experienced something similar, I'm hear to tell you that NO ONE deserves this kind of treatment (solitary confinement, naked solitary confinement, being abducted from your bed in the middle of the night, being put in a straitjacket, sexual harassment by guards - all of these are described in the documentary btw). NO ONE deserves this and especially NOT KIDS. If kids are behaving out of control with drugs and alcohol, it's almost always (read: always) due to deep trauma -- abuse, degradation and imprisonment are NEVER the right response. We live in a disgusting fascist society that normalizes punishment and absolutely horrific abuses.

Everyone’s experience is different and if hers wasn’t like the one Paris had and she feels it helped her she has the right to say it sure but HOW and WHEN she said it was wrong and definitely not the right time, if you call it an interview about someone’s hard experience do that not a debate. At least if she really wanted to say it she should have worded it differently and not say I’ve been throught that too so this time it’s not just a usual interview bla bla letting someone believe they fully understand and to later say “hey mine was good wouldn’t change it”. I do agree with your comment though don’t get me wrong. Just because she is ok with it and has come out of it with no trauma(she acted like it but who knows) doesn’t make it ok in general or for others.

Oh so disappointed in Drew after this interview. She just totally skated over asking Paris any actual questions and generalised her experience as being the same as Drew’s. Like “haha yeah I hated being there, but it really helped me change for the better you know?” while Paris is sitting there like “my experience was deeply traumatic and caused long standing nightmares and ptsd like symptoms but sure yeah they’re totes the same” You really can see her close off emotionally. Imagine Paris being interviewed by Ellen. Ellen would probably try to trigger something in Paris to get a reaction just for views. It’s also a very common action by autistic women/girls who just want to be accepted by their peers, and find something in common and latch on, not expecting to hurt or steal anyone else’s spotlight.

Drew Barrymore was exactly like the prettiest girl back in my High School days, BEFORE I used to envy her physical beauty, she had that type of skin where she looks like she's wearing makeup she never dealt with pimples or dark circles the entire years of high school, her teeth were already perfect for braces, while I was getting bullied during those years for how I used to look, my teeth still needed braces and also I started making efforts such as putting a natural looking makeup covering up my dark circles *SHE SHAMED ME FOR IT AND EXPRESSED HOW IRRITATED SHE IS SAYING I ONLY CARE HOW I LOOK LIKE* when she even sees me trying my best to study, just because she has a HIGH I.Q and I am struggling with my LOWER I.Q that no matter what kind of study I do even with a tutor I still fail, I felt like every student's nightmares were being thrown to me, she even ask "Don't you ever care about your studies even just a bit?" I only gave her the death stare and did not answered her at all. I had a very strict narcissistic mother, while she had the kind of mother everyone wishes to have, I'd compare her mom with Regina George's mom, while my mother like the one who stole/adopted Rapunzel. So the girl had issues with me having problems with my own toxic mom, you know how a matured sister acts when her little sister misbehaves that's how she acted towards me for having issues with my toxic mom but in a bad way for my case, *ALSO SHE MADE FUN OF HOW I USED TO LOOK SHE TOLD ME WHEN WE GO OUT OF SCHOOL I WILL BE THE BEAUTIFUL CENTER OF ATTENTION IN A MEAN AND SARCASTIC WAY WHILE SHE IS LAUGHING HARD* she did it several times THEN AFTER HIGHSCHOOL, we never all met during college, but after college WE HAD A REUINION, my highschool teacher contacted me from Facebook to make a speech about my experiences, so I was optimistic to be there because I HAD A SUCCESSFUL COSMETIC SURGERY THAT GOT ME INTO MANY MODELINGS AGENCIES AND BEAUTY PAGEANTS WERE VERY KIND AND CONSIDERATE EVEN IF I TOLD THEM IT WAS COSMETIC SURGERY THEY STILL OFFERED TO JOIN, I BECAME ALSO SUCCESSFUL WITH MY ART SKILLS WHERE I GOT PROMOTED, so as I arrive I saw the girl again I dealt with along with our other classmates chit-chatting they all look at my NAME TAG that we all have for that reunion, so when she got the hint that I got a plastic surgery her reaction towards me looks irritated, you know when a dumb person makes a mistake at work and how a boss reacts that's how she reacted.Especially when I told to the speech about it but in the middle to the end of my speech I finally made her FEEL GUILTY while the rest including those who used to bully me, cheered and clapped for me as a job well done.

I used to not be able to stand her bc of all the crazy things she did like a lunatic, and she was everywhere. Then she disappeared. She is nowhere like the Kardashians that she used to hang out with.

Yes I felt an uncomfortable vibe from Paris at the end. In that moment, it was like Drew was seeking validation from Paris about the quality of interview (self-serving, selfish) instead of just keeping the focus on her guest (as most interviewers would do) and finishing on a strong note asking more about Paris or what she’s doing next.

They should have explored more the fact that Paris was actually abused in that camp. She was forcefully given drugs, there was physical and sexual abuse. Other women confirmed these practices were taking place in that camp. They are equally traumatised by it. Not that Paris needed this 'evidence' to validate her feelings, but still. This experience cannot be compared with Drew's who does not detail such abuse. There is a big difference between tough love and abuse. I just found this discussion a bit superficial. Like the fact that Drew compared it to her experience and said that the practices saved her life... I was shocked. I wonder if there is more, I only saw this short clip.

You’re all saying that Drew should’ve gone deeper but what if Paris didn’t want to? Every time someone talks about their abuse they relive it. Interviewers have to be careful with their questions, the last thing they want to do is trigger the person and making them shut down.

Drew basically made it all about her, and Paris was only being nice when she said her favorite interview cause she doesn't want to be rude and dismiss Drew's story 🙄 .
