Music video by James Taylor performing Sweet Baby James (from Squibnocket). (C) 1993 Columbia Records, a division of Sony Music Entertainment vevo.ly/IZVGEG
If this wasn’t the peak performance of his music it was one of them. I loved watching this on the local public TV station when it first came out!! Saw him this last summer at the “ABC corp” venue now known as Pine Knob again with Jackson Browne. They were amazing!!
I once saw James Taylor back in the day when the city of Boston had a series called concerts on the common. I was working on Boylston Street. It was a Friday afternoon. I finished work, walked through the public gardens. The concert area was fenced off. I had a couple of tickets. James Taylor picked up his guitar and sang for over two hours. It was one of the best concerts I have ever attended. Thank you James Taylor
The story he tells about his brother and his wife having a new baby boy and the song he was writing ✍ to well come him into the world, it's so simple it puts a smile on your face. 😊😊😊
Oh how time passes so fast. I recall this set broadcast on the BBC in the early to mid 1990s - now some 25 years ago! I even recorded on video back then, and played it over and over again. And now, quite by chance I stumbled across it here on RUclips - thanks RUclips, and thank you James Taylor!
I watched it too and then couldn’t find it for many years after losing my vhs recording. So glad I’ll never forget the word ‘Squibnocket’ now 😂 Such a great set!
James Taylor is my favourite artist. I’ve been at his concerts in my beloved Belfast and England, New York and New Zealand. He’s been part of my life since 1970.
Recently one of my lifelong friends named James passed away 😔 His Mom mentioned that she sang this song to him when he was a baby. I hope you're Resting In The Sweetest Peace My Friend. #SweetBabyJames🕊 💙
Been a JT fan since i was 7 years old. My father had thats why I’m here on record (vinyl 45”) , fell in love with that JT album, and now. Have every JT album in music library collection. So much better than the “music” so called that is out there today. Have seen him in concert in Toronto twice, first time was 1996, second time was 2008. Terrific both times, what a musical treasure to the world. Keep on rocking, and making terrific music!!!
I was bought the Lp Sweet baby James in TorQuay after leaving home to work their in the Torbay holiday camp by to Irish girl s in the 70 s ..and this man musician even to this day has not lost His fine musical spirit....
I am originally from Pittsburgh. My father was a stagehand for 50 yrs. Those were the days when you could take a chair rite to the stage & watch for free. I saw J.T. about a dozen x's. If anyone remember s he seldom wore shoes. Very gracious guy.
There is a young cowboy, he lives on the range, His horse and his cattle are his only companions. He works in the saddle and sleeps in the canyons, Waiting for summer, his pastures to change. And as the moon rises he sits by his fire, Thinking about women and glasses of beer, And closing his eyes as the doggies retire. He sings out a song which is soft but it's clear, As if maybe someone could hear. He says Goodnight you moonlight ladies, Rockabye sweet baby James. Deep greens and blues are the colors I choose, Won't you let me go down in my dreams, And rockabye sweet baby James. The first of December was covered with snow So was the turnpike from Stockbridge to Boston The Berkshires seemed dream-like on account of that frosting With ten miles behind me and ten thousand more to go. There's a song that they sing when they take to the highway, A song that they sing when they take to the sea, A song that they sing of their home in the sky, Maybe you can believe it if it helps you to sleep, But singing works just fine for me. Goodnight you moonlight ladies, Rockabye sweet baby James. Deep greens and blues are the colors I choose, Won't you let me go down in my dreams, And rockabye sweet baby James.
I used to make the picking circle at Luckenbach, Texas frequently. I knew all the local musicians and the bartenders to Many times at last call they had me play this. It truly has a magical effect on people Thank you James

Why does this sound so off. Like its in wrong key or something. I cant tell. Im amateur guitar player so i cant tell if something is out of tune or something. But the voice and music seem off. Worsf performance musically ive ever heard him do of this song

Nothing ever beats a James Taylor tune on a calming night.
Time surely flies.Sweet baby James is closing in on 60 and is possibly someone's grandfather.💐
Sang this as a lullaby to my grandson James,15 years later and he's still my sweet baby James. Thank you Mr Taylor for the years of beautiful music!
I played this for my daughter when she was small...love it..A true trupedore.

JT's music, everyday, is my time of Zen.
I think this was the first song I learned. Still one of my all time favorites. I don’t know why; it just resonates. Thank you Mr. Taylor.
Quality never rusts......
Well said, Keith. :)

My very first record album that I could call my own, 1970……freshman in high school.
I watched this VHS tape over and over and over. It is a dear memory for me. Now I'm older than JT was when this was recorded! Gah!
