Was listening to a station on Apple Music and I was about to close it when this gem played. Looks like The National + New Order had a child and I just found out, loving it.
I've said it before, love this band -Ultravox meets New Order meets John Foxx. Keep it going. Would love to see you live. But not sure about the context of this video clip...
Are these the correct lyrics? (I've put a star where i've just made a guess): If I deride you for your faults Pretend they are my own And turn the other way *Sylvan in my regrets Reflected in the mud But I'm not ashamed Believe me I'm losing sense of it all I won't deny it So rabbit run away Voices tell me I'm better off eating meat *And all the violence I see without believing *Chew that innocence not knowing what I've done Cold sweat holds the chill of the evening Floor boards creak and theres leaks in the ceiling I'm slipping up And almost gone Believe me I'm losing sense of it all Won't you mind and turn the other way Believe me I'm losing sense of it all I won't deny it So rabbit run away Inch by inch I am moving in circles Stepping over cracks without knowing my purpose Counting my wins not knowing what I've done *If I roll my luck ‘cross the table See my hope through the eye of the needle A narrow miss and I'm gone Believe me I'm losing sense of it all Won't you mind and turn the other way Believe me I'm losing sense of it all I won't deny it So rabbit run away If I deride you for your faults Pretend they are my own And turn the other way Believe me I'm losing sense of it all Won't you mind and turn the other way Believe me I'm losing sense of it all I won't deny it So rabbit run away
According to what I can find online: If had wrote you for your thoughts Pretend they are my own and turn the other way Still living in my regrets Reflected in the mud But I'm not ashamed Believe me I'm losing sense of it all I won't deny it So that you run away Voices tell me I'm better off feeding Leading all the violence I see without breathing Threw that innocence not knowing what I've done Cold sweat holds the chill of the evening Floor boards creak and there's leaks in the ceiling I'm slipping up And almost gone Believe me I'm losing sense of it all Won't you mind and turn the other way Believe me I'm losing sense of it all I won't deny it So rabbit run away Inch by inch I am moving in circles Stepping on the cracks with it all in my purpose Counting my wins knowing what I've done If I roll my luck 'cross the table See my hope through the eye of the needle A narrow miss and I'm gone Believe me I'm losing sense of it all Won't you mind and turn the other way Believe me I'm losing sense of it all I won't deny it So rabbit run away If I had a write you for your thoughts Pretend they are my own and turn the other way Believe me I'm losing sense of it all Won't you mind and turn the other way Believe me I'm losing sense of it all I won't deny it So rabbit run away
+turkleton2007 And The National borrows heavily from Tindersticks. And this simple chord progression have never been played before in the history of mankind. Calm City Down borrows more from Joy Division and New Order.
Song is pretty nice, but they ripped off The Cure big time, at the beginning I always expect the lyrics to be "I've been looking so long at my pictures of you..."
What a bass line. I was listening to this the other day whilst driving along a country road in the dark with fireworks going off all around. Epic.

Reminds me off all those great 80's bands stunning choonage
I absolutely love this song, but if someone told me this was The National I might actually believe them.
+Stuie Malan haha that's exactly what i thought
Stuie Malan yeah ur not wrong there haha
It is The National...
I agree very much like the national
except better cause they're aussie :)
A lot of influences here and I'm loving it. New Order, Joy Division, The Cure and more recently White Lies. Brilliant stuff.
And early Bloc Party... Writing this I'm realising Silent Alarm is already eleven years old ! Time does fly.
A little bit of The Stranglers mixed in there, as well.
thank you for not saying the damn National...
Word!
Reminds me of some older Australian bands like The Triffids (Wide Open Road). Awesome song!
great band, they have some influences from some of the old greats
Wow, takes me back to the 80's, hints of a number of Liverpool and Manchester bands of the time. Great music and vocals.
just perfect...! the national, motorama, the drums... in between lines?
how can he have that voice??.... magnific!!! *.*
Genius...best band of the generation :)
I really like this song
Love this tune
OMG 1:20 its Brandon Flowers!
Great band, great song, great guys.........well done
Gladstone Park shopping centre in Victoria... Represent!!!!
+Vincent Manuel Can't even believe my eyes!!!
+Vincent Manuel I was wondering where it was, I thought it could have been Chadstone but didn't look familiar enough.
Omg I never realized!
Regarding the "Sounds like" comments, I'll go for New Order...listen to the bass line, the fast drumming, the synths
I find it a bit darker-more Joy Division. Fantastic all the same.
“the synths” 😌
Saw them a few years ago :)
After the show I waved at them in the car :3
Lovin' it. Reminds me of The National. V cool.
Oh I love this song. Great vocals, lovely hook, just sublime. Has a Cure feel to it (which I adore).
just awesome, such an emotional sound... can't wait to get the album..
Great song
Apartment Story springs to mind. But not a rip off. Something fresh. Fantastic.
Minha banda preferida atualmente!
I've said it before, love this band -Ultravox meets New Order meets John Foxx. Keep it going. Would love to see you live. But not sure about the context of this video clip...
I thought this was Maximo Park when I first heard it. Really good tune.
Wow! 😊
Reminds me of 1980s music!
Very nice
LOVE this song
I here The Church far more than the cure
+Elaine Stafford Yep - here too!
+Elaine Stafford I was thinking Echo and the bunnymen as well
Fantastic!!!!
I liked the song because it reminds me of The Call's You Run
I know the words to this song, I've never heard it in my life, sounds like The National but better.
yep very good.
New Order, JD, Cure, Triffids are all in there.
love it , 😢
But in saying that. It is a gorgeous song.
The vocalist sounds like Morten Haarket with a deep voice. I get a late 80s/early 90s Aha vibe.
It's like the lead singer of the Psychedelic Furs hooked up with New Order and they had a jam session.
GREAT!
KOOL!!!
Yeaah
Better than the national.

Reflected in the mud
But I'm not ashamed
Believe me I'm losing sense of it all
I won't deny it
So rabbit run away
Voices tell me I'm better off eating meat
*And all the violence I see without believing
*Chew that innocence not knowing what I've done
Cold sweat holds the chill of the evening
Floor boards creak and theres leaks in the ceiling
I'm slipping up
And almost gone
Believe me I'm losing sense of it all
Won't you mind and turn the other way
Believe me I'm losing sense of it all
I won't deny it
So rabbit run away
Inch by inch I am moving in circles
Stepping over cracks without knowing my purpose
Counting my wins not knowing what I've done
*If I roll my luck ‘cross the table
See my hope through the eye of the needle
A narrow miss and I'm gone
Believe me I'm losing sense of it all
Won't you mind and turn the other way
Believe me I'm losing sense of it all
I won't deny it
So rabbit run away
If I deride you for your faults

Human Tetris influence aswell?
It's like Ian Curtis of Joy Division was reincarnated.
Absolute bliss
It's so weird this song has nothing to do with the John Updike novel Rabbit, run. It is so appropriate.
Sounds like the cure
Nah sounds like the City Calm Down
@@mattybwrblombo71 love it, Ha Ha Ha. you could be right there..
Its like listening to a millenial The Cure band
The national - Apartment story rip
+turkleton2007 And The National borrows heavily from Tindersticks. And this simple chord progression have never been played before in the history of mankind. Calm City Down borrows more from Joy Division and New Order.

New Order
Brilliant and marvellous song!! But a bad video.
A W E S O M E
ieahhhhhhh :D
Someone has been listening to joy division and the cure a little too much
+Juan Zorrilla I'd argue that CCD are better than Joy Division.
+ANameYouCanRemember 100%
+Juan Zorrilla that was impression i had. nevertheless, sounds good, as i liked joy division and the cure, this song brigs me back in time.....
And what about "sounds like The Killers"
Song is pretty nice, but they ripped off The Cure big time, at the beginning I always expect the lyrics to be "I've been looking so long at my pictures of you..."
I like king krule better
