Improv SEEMS to be improvisational, but as an improv artist knows, ACTUALLY follows very strict rules and parameters. Like JAZZ improv musicians who are actually following strict chord charts, tempo, and dynamics...the improv actor is trained (for YEARS!) in improv RULES. Improvisation is the ULTIMATE 99% - 1%.
@@TheActorsFoundryOnline Hmm.. Interesting, good thing I've never been informed of the rules, beside the "yes and" which makes sense to a big degree. But I don't understand the "99%-1%", could you please explain ??
@@koreath Hi Austin: the above video describes the concept of SURRENDER AND FLOW which are the byproduct of the work. 99% of the work is in preparation (and in improvisation in the endless exhaustive practice of the rules and the training to be outward-oriented) and the 1% off the work is in the performance.
