Aside from the truly important things I'm grateful for, I'm grateful for this RUclips channel my coworker got me tuned in to, for what I learn, the way Scott conducts himself, and the example he sets in appearance and speech. Your light shines Scott and lots of us see that. As an electrician around other dudes constantly, sometimes I don't speak as I know I should and I think, man, I need to be more like this guy and set a better example. You keep up the good Scott and hopefully we'll all continue doing a little better each day. Thank you.

We bought a Leatherman multi tool for my son. We were teaching him a few social tools (patience, politeness, tolerance etc) at the time, and asked him to use the multi tool as a reminder of each of the relationship tools that he was learning to master.
Any time a gift can have a story to go with it, you are giving much more than the item itself.

Your enthusiasm is contagious, your smile is genuine, and its clear from the clip the crafting of popcorn is an event and not a chore. Be well, be happy, and I hope you keep smiling this holiday season.

    Just a note on the Leatherman stuff;
I got a Leatherman Mut back when I was a fresh face in the Army. I carried it and used it every single day the entire time I was in. By the time I got out, my Leatherman was still in perfect working order. So, I kept carrying it with me. I have now had this same Leatherman Mut for 12 years and I have taken it all over the world. I still carry it with me to work, every day, and it still works as it should. The only thing that has ever gone "wrong" with it was that one of the hex screws that secures the belt clip to the frame got a bit loose.
When you see "Made in USA" on a product, that's a a badge of honor and it means something. Leatherman proves that. I can't recommend them highly enough.

Something I often do is buy an item at a higher quality than the receiving party would normally spend for themselves. For example, one year I was purchasing something for a family member who I know if very religious. I am well aware they have all sorts of religious items around the house, including bibles. I had a $100 budget, though I went a bit over. I chose to purchase them a bible. He already had bibles, ofcourse, but this was a beautiful leather bound edition. That was about 4 or 5 years ago. I saw him today at Thanksgiving diner and walked around his new-to-me house. Sure enough, the bible I had purchased was on display on his dresser in his room. It clearly has been read, probably several times by know, but looks as beautiful as it did on the day it was purchased.

Additional thoughts on "something good to eat." Something you made yourself, and something from an heirloom recipe.
A cousin whipped up a batch of cookies from a great-great-aunt's cookbook, and presented a dozen each to various family members. Knowing that they put forth the effort to make those cookies made them special. They were also special because of the history behind them.

Welding helmet for a non-welder is a great idea, but if you can afford it buy them the full kit: cheap stick welder, rods, gloves, etc. And include some scraps of metal so that when they unwrap it you can take them out to the shed immediately-no procrastination allowed-and show them how easy it is to melt one bit of metal to another. Did this for a mate recently and he was instantly hooked after years of ‘thinking’ it would be good to be able to weld stuff on his farm.

I have that Saddleback wallet, its a great wallet, it sounds like its a big wallet but the (for a lack of a better way to put it)broad footprint makes it more comfortable in your pocket with the same amount of stuff in it. One caveat, if you like your leather to show some age and use, don't get the black, get one of the lighter colors. I have the black and other than being deformed some and shiny in places, you wouldn't think its been carried daily for more than a decade.

Try out a Gerber Multi-Tool. Plier head is instant. No folding. Just swing your hand downward. You like efficiency! lol Rivents aren't super tight on the Gerber either. The only advantahe to leatherman is the knife is on the outside. But many cuts can be made with just the plier head. Poke tape on boxes (no gummed blades), cut smaller line, wires, zip ties, etc. Phillips head, and file is great too. Just my take, but I much prefer the Gerber. 600 model is my standby.

I know some things every man will be happy to get.
    1. Hobby related consumables. For me it’s stick rods, for you it’s screws or somthing.
    2. Foods/drinks. If somone gifts me a bottle of root beer we are suddenly better friends.
    3. Replacements for broken items. Self explanatory

How about an Eton crank up emergency radio? I gave one to a girlfriend about 8 or 9 years ago, and last year in FL she got it out and used it during a hurricane. Said it worked great!! Emergency weather, lights, USB port--all powered by a hand crank generator, and small!

It's 2019 sir. Those children need to be wearing safety glasses, gloves, hairnets and sat through an eight hour food safety program at your local health department before popping popcorn.

I'm starting to think about getting *myself* a Leatherman for Christmas. I've never been sold on multitools, the basic folding knife does a reasonable enough job at also being a saw, awl, scissors, and flathead screwdriver considering it's thinner, lighter, and easier to open. The only thing that would win me over is the pliers. It's tempting.
Also that little trash can is awesome. I'll have to get one for my dad and another for his dad. Sadly all my uncles are desk jockeys.

If those are the tools you want, and you don't want to carry a full-size, consider the Juice series. I've had a Juice XE6 on my keychain (which I admit is a little bulky for that, but I'm used to it) for 16 years now. I literally can't leave home without it and I'm glad I never do.
Oddly enough, one of the reasons I absolutely have to have that particular model (other than size) is because it includes a decent file. I can't tell you how many times I've ripped a nail off a finger doing "something" and needed to clean up the jagged edge or get it caught on my gloves, pockets, eyeballs, etc all day. Stupid reason to carry it, but man... I use that file all the time.

I agree with you about Leatherman. Been carrying like you for over 25 years. Lost the first one. Broke one of the screwdriver blades (itsa screwdriver, not a crowbar) on the second, still have it in in my tacklebox and still carrying the newest (10 years old). Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours. Keep up the good work!
