I'm closing-in on that 7K. I keep mine at the same level, but in 6-7 different areas. One has to work with their given storage space options. Would be interesting to know how many different types of music are in his 7K.

So a few people understand why we collect vinyl records, I was asking myself that the other day when I spent almost 3 hours going through every single record in a band g thrift store. I probably looked through over 10,000 records just to find a handful of real treasures, totally worth it.
While awesome to own that many records, there is no way you could ever listen to all of them. Not enough time in the day!

Awwn man I'm happy for you! I started collecting 2 years ago but since my country's currency is devalued I only bought 5 so far, with 10 more from my dad's old collection.
My parents aren't this supportive though. They think it's just a waste of money, even tho it's MY money and they have their collections of other stuff as well. As soon as I move out, Imma get myself a nice shelf and grow my collection.
Great for you and BRO, THE DETERMINATION TO ALPHABETIZE IT LOL. My lil' collection is organized by my taste, from most to least favorite. I prefer it this way just because it's easier for me to grab my favs from the get-go.

I knew someone once who had a massive collection, and then the first time I started looking through it, I realized that about 75% of it was garbage that no one would ever listen to.
It may not be garbage to that person though, perhaps their listening taste was different from yours
I agree! I have a large collection but each LP (classical, jazz, rock) has been selected for my valuation of musical worth. No Alvin and the Chipmunks or Tennessee Ernie Ford!

Back in the '70's, in my teens, I sent a large part of my little weekly pay on LP's much to my dads dismay. He would tell me how much it hurt him to seem me throwing away my money like that. I always kept my vinyl in good shape. I wish he was alive today to see that many of the albums I paid $5 bucks for are now worth upwards of $25~$50. rock on!!

I know I paid $65 for an old copy ( in great condition mind you ) of Axis Bold as Love by Hendrix. I had one when I was 11 in 1972 that cost $3.99. Also in 1971 I bought Sticky Fingers by the Stones for $2.99 in a magazine rack at a grocery store. I have re purchased that too for only $40 with the original inner sleeve with the first use of the Tongue logo. And of course a working zipper. Cheers from Montreal

I have some gems from the 80's list by purchasing.. I buy a 70's or 60"s gem when price and timing is right. Where I missed was seeing those crazy imported records during the early 90"s and deciding to go with out. I do now buy a 90's press from time to time, but usually a reissue is fine grim that period. Unless split on to 2lps, usually the 90's records are not worth it. Worth collecting, but for sound, no.

my collection is not that big….around 700+ CDs and almost 100 LPs. the problem with the CDs is, when i get new ones and i want to add them to my collection theres always a lot of rearranging that has to be done. i only can imagine what work and time this take in your case 😳
I keep a little space for additions to my collection but ever now and then I do have to do a shift but it's not as bad as it may seem

I don´t even show people my rooms with my collection, 30000 + LP´s (no BS, mostly Rare groove, Funk, Soul, Jazz (no Dixie or BigBand Stuff), HipHop, Prog, Kraut and Psych) , have additional 15000 LP´s in another House, they would declare me as insane. I know people with private collections of 60000 to 100000 records. It´s a lifetime job

I buy new vinyl online and used vinyl at thrift stores.
@@kennysaudiophilerecordreviewsI buy used on eBay. Today I bought Robin Trower's Twice Removed From Yesterday for $8 with free shipping from a seller in Connecticut - my old home state. I now live in central Florida. The thrift shops around here have hardly any worthwhile LP's.

Yo yo! Dope collection! Just a tip, since you love music so much I’d recommend moving those speakers further apart and away from the wall if possible. Looks like you invested in some pretty good speakers, and that will really help the sound quality.

I did a video of famous bands not in my collection and think that I may have mentioned ABBA was one of them. I checked my collection several days after posting that video and I did have one ABBA album called " ABBA The Singles, The first ten years"

The person that inherits this, when you're gone...they really appreciate it! This reminds me of guys that buy exotic cars and keep them in the garage the entire time they own them...they pass on, then what??? All they did was save an incredible car for the next guy.

I knew a man, in 1968 who lived in my apt bldg (John Kelly) who worked at Capital Records. His job was to listen to the first 10 records from each pressing. If he deemed them good, the 300 or so could be released. His collection at that time was about 5K records. He kept in his closet the original mock up of 'Meet the Beatles' which he fished out of the trash at Capital. He gave me several rarities which I still have. His wife Joanne, had been the girlfriend of Mickey Dolenz, and I was a fan of the Monkees. She gave me a key to Mickeys' house (still have it) she said she broke up with him because he was obsessed with building a gyrocopter in his basement.

I will listen to any type of music as long as it sounds good to me, but I am not a fan of country music or heavy metal music. My favorites are jazz, pop, rock, soul/R&B, folk and easy listening music. In my opinion the best album of all time is "What's Going On" by Marvin Gaye.

I’m Irish, 14 years old so I never had much of an introduction to much music outside of the traditional music, and pop we all listened to and played growing up. When I started listening to rap/hip-hop, I was enthralled by the use of samples; that helped me get into jazz, soul, funk etc etc. When I first heard the title track on what’s going on, I couldn’t help but be amazed by what I was hearing. Truly an incredible voice. Maggot brain, blue by joni and there’s a riot goin on by sly and the family stone were some good albums to come out in 71 along with Marvin too. Hope to pick them up some day. Keep collecting man!
