The Dracula on your helmet is a nice reminder that I had a fair amount of artistic talent and painted a few Batman/Dracula signs whenever we set up someplace semi-permanent. I think that bright red thingamabob on your helmet probably wouldn't be a good idea, though. Your accuracy of your kit is pretty impressive. Drac Alpha November Six Kilo,... out.......
My dad served with 1/2 Ramrods Co. C. 1ST Inf. Div. 1966-1967. The black scarves earned distinction when they captured a viet cong stronghold in the villiage of Lo Go. Under the command of Ltc Prillman. He used the pajama material of the viet cong to desiginate each company of the 1/2 by different colors.
Hey man, you put out some great content. I always look forward to the next video. I had an idea. Could you possibly make a video showing different ways that slings were attached to the m16? I've seen plenty of photos of guys with different sling set ups, so I thought that it would make a cool video.
I saw an interview of a Nam vet who said they used Smoke on every mission to prevent friendly fire incidents with friendly artillery. But like you said, it was probably unit or mission dependent.
I still have my original jungle boots that I wore , pretty well worn , but they went through jungles , rice paddies ......... Had more than one pair had to turn them in , I had two I was able to get out , can't find the other. Nam Vet , The
You are re-enacting, so beg Mom to mail you some. The Pentagon wasted billions on useless hardware, but infantrymen trying to get some socks through the regular supply chain were wasting their time.
I was in Alpha Company of the Blackscarves... The First Division was very concerned about us running out of ammunition, so out in the field, most riflemen had to carry 20 M-16 magazines. That's more than can fit in a reasonable amount of ammo pouches, so most of us either carried our magazines in the heavy canvas satchels that claymore mines came in, or used somewhat flimsier bandoliers.
@@herothereenactor yeah, its a WE, he did a vid on it earlier. Solid gun, I have the lower for one in the mail rn, and the upper already in my possession. He goes over all the stuff you need to change to make it better, prolly his most useful vid bc every m16 on the market needs tons of work lol
Participating FFL dealers. Colt did a 50 year commemorative semi-auto only M-16A1. Came with a bird cage & three prong flash suppressor and marked US Property. Way high priced ($2500), but it looks the part and goes bang bang. 1-12 twist so M-193 ammo only if you want it to shoot straight. There’s also an H&R marked version that has a 1-7 twist barrel under the delta hand guards so you can also shoot M-855. I’m not a re-enactor, just an Army brat and 2A guy. ‘Nam was one of Dad’s wars. I also found an original NOS pair of 3rd pattern jungle boots, Vibram soles and dated 3/68, the month and year he arrived in country. Ebay is useful sometimes. I saw an unopened full case of that face camo stick, dated 3/45. I had no idea they’d been in the inventory since WWII. Saw some CBS News footage of Lt. Col. Alexander Haig with the Big Red One on his sleeve taken in about 1968. What a CO!
Inerts. Good luck finding a non-inert smoke. If you want functional, enola Gaye eg18x works well. Maybe you can find a way to place one in a m18 shell. Probably wouldn't be too hard
Probably not hair products but a comb can be a lifesaver. Clean out dirt and not have it all stuck together. And condoms have their uses such as barrel covers
I know a 1st inf ranger vet who was an RTO, always cool to see 1st ID kits
This is exactly the kind of information I've been looking for 🔥 my googling skills aren't the best so it's hard to find this info 😅
Very cool impression! My reenactment group from MI portrays the 1st ID, 28th Inf. Rgt. "Black Lions."

awesome!
I'm trying to build a Vietnam War loadout, but sadly, now I have got only original USMC uniform and Jungle boots + the M16A1 (VN version of course)
Hey can you post more about your 1st ID
If the embroidery on the back of the scarf was red, it was "A" Company. ( Me, Co A ,1st/2inf 6-'68 to 6-'69....)
Pretty cool
Hell yeah
Could you do a Korean War USMC
That's the plan
How didn't you get a copyright strike? Curious because I wanna put Nam music into my films.
Can you do a 198th light infantry brigade Americal division?
Very cool bro
In the Big Red One, did Black Scarfs use the tropical rucksack?
The 1st gotta be the toughest I mean shit they got the most battle time. Though I heard the Rangers are pretty bad ass too.
Anyone know where to get a black scarf for this impression ?
Fuckin badass man
I’m planning on getting ammo pouches, should I buy originals for double the price or buy repros for half?
Originals, you can get them cheap if you wait and order on places other than eBay, Pepsi is selling an ammo pouch currently on his Instagram

Did the big red 1 use the ARVN pack?

Was it common for 1st ID to use buttpacks into the later years?
Did you buy some of Rocco’s cigarettes?

one thing i recommend is filling your pockets!
I have a 1956 shovel cover with a name on it is it rare??
Don’t sell it. Every name is unique say it is kind of rare.
Whats the deal with shovels? Some guys carrythem and some didnt?

@@micahfrye8885 Another fun fact: Feminine hygiene napkins were ideal for swabbing out mortar tubes....
I act like a black scarf infantry
why do you not use M69 Flak
Sometimes the mortar platoon had them, but the rest of the company didn't.
