My dad passed away this early morning on September 10th, 2022... This was a favorite song of his, I loved the man. He kept clothes on me, raised me into the man I am today, kept us fed and worked hard all his life. He had been in so much pain, in a nursing home and died peacefully in his sleep. He was so young at 57. I FEEL so guilty for not visiting you enough dad, for not being there as much when you weren't as good as you once was. I hope one day we can meet again, and I can tell you how grateful I am to be your son. RIP Christopher, 1965-2022. See you sometime.
I liked country during the long cool period 2001-2013 and Toby was often in the daily country station which we enjoyed at work May he be blessed with the eternal body that will not age get ill or decay in any way as God prepares the coming system. No evil evermore
RIP Toby Keith. He played a huge part in establishing my love for Country music. Country music teaches valuable life lessons. He very much helped fulfill that. The older I get I often say "I ain't as good as I once was, but I'm as good once, as I ever was".
I’m a hood dude that only listens to rap and I know a lot about other music as well but…I just heard this song for the first time yesterday dec 10th 2023 and I gotta say this is one of the hardest most relatable country songs I ever heard in my life 😂😂 I’ll be 32 next month 🙄😂🤦🏽♂️ and I’m ashamed I never heard this song before…I told my wife (who’s a white girl that grew up listening to country music) the same thing I just commented, and she laughed so hard at me 😂😂😂😂 hey when it’s good music it’s good music 🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️👌🏽👌🏽💯💯
Such a nice song. Really reminds me of my dad. His stories made him sound really tough when he was young and I imagine he was. Although he got old he still had that strength to him. Sadly he died of cancer last week. It is really nice listening to this. Brings back a lot of memories and stories.
I remember when I was little my grandma would turn on the radio when we were driving back from the market we would sing this along together lol and tell me stories when she was younger back in the 70s
I made it to 75 and I ain't as good as I once was but surviving a war in the 70's taught me I ain't as good as I once was but I still can keep up if need be. This has become my new theme song and if this cancer finishes me off this will be played at my ending ceremony. Thanks Toby
I can agree with that. His voice fits this kind of music well. Only reason I really never followed him as am artist was the local country stations playing his latest hit every half hour from sum up until midnight, daily. It's pretty sad when, in the space of two 8 hour work shifts I wouod have the lyrics down. A week, Inhad the lead and rhythm guitar parts figured out, and usually, down pat. No saying I don't enjoy his music, but there is such a thing as too much of a good thing. Ms jo, it's not just his songs, but just from a bunch of different artists. TK, Garth Brooks, Brad Paisley, and a couple others, you an set a watch by when said station plays.them.
I'm only 20, but even this song hits me as I look back on my life and see how much has gone by so fast. Can't wait till I get old and tell my grandkids about the 2000's.
Great song , sung by one of the best , my favorite I " Don't Let The Old Man In , watching Keith sing that at the Grand Ol Opry was great , loved the story of how he came to write the song , playing golf with Clint Eastwood , the song is so meaningful and inspirational , your the best , I listen to that song every morning .
Sorry for your loss Bud! ❤ Lost both of my parents as well .May God Bless you with his Spirit of Comfort,Healing ,and Peace that Only He Posseses ! ❤❤🙏🙏🙏Prayers Sent.............You are The Man to carry the Family Rraditikn and Legacy on now Brother . Stay Strong 💪 ❤❤❤❤❤❤
17 years old: this song is a joke 💪😂 Me now at 37: i feel this in a spiritual way. 😲 "My body says you cant do this boy, But my pride says oh yes you can" I felt that
Too true bro. Lol going out to bale hay with the younger kids now days and I’m laid up for the next day and these kids went out to the bar. Getting old sucks.
LMMFAO, I didn’t even see this before I posted this….Me when this came on 20 years ago: “Turn that s**t off! Is everyone ready and how many cars are we takin to the club?!” Me today: “Ain’t that the truth 🥺”
Fuck that man I’m 32 and I’m in the best shape of my life. Never been more fit or had more energy. Not till I’m in my 50s is this going to be my anthem.
My grandfather was a truck driver for BFI in from 1985-2012. This song reminds me of the first truck he drove there. An early 80s Ford F750. That truck was a legend, my grandfather nicknamed it ''Mr. Frisky'' in honor of a race horse. It's unclear what became of that truck, though it was certainly in rougher shape later. I was introduced to this song bc of vehicles, and the story of that BFItruck came to mind, with bits like ''up for a rodeo'' as my grandfather won 1st place at several truck rodeos, ''my best friend Dave'' my uncle's name is Dave, and he was also a trucker, and ''hell on wheels'' given Mr. Frisky's story. Ik this seems weird, but I have never been able to say what this song means to me
I remember listening to this on the radio when I was 8 years and asking my mom what this song. My mom always answered my questions honestly, especially about this kind of thing, but this time she told me that I would understand when I'm older. Sometimes I can't believe the music my parents let me listen to. I used to go around singing Longneck Bottle and Two Pina Coladas xD
Well I love this song and I say the phrase and is good ones as I once was quite a bit I've always been known to never back down even though I was a woman and at 63 I still don't back down I may pay for it the next day but I don't back down and know this Toby you worked with my brother in Oklahoma City at a plant his name was Grady slay he told me how good your voice was before you ever made it big he passed away a long time ago of a heart attack so know that my thoughts and prayers are with you as you fight through this cancer and I pray God heals you God bless
This used to be my favorite song when i was 7/8...yeah i definitely didn't know what he was actually talking about. Listening to it years later i can feel my innocence lacking
Got mugged on the way home from the bar tonight, I won and walked away but not without a few to remember it. Listening to this and shaking my head now. 😅👌
1:58 I’m an mma fighter and when I’m 50 and I have my last fight, I want this song to play at this point. It would be so fun and such a great way to go out. I’m not gonna be as athletic and fast as I am now but I’ll have experience and a love for my sport that will keep this heart and mind as sharp as I m now for till I die ❤️🥊🥋
Hey this is random, but have you got any exersice advice for someone who lives in a flat with no garden and is in isolation ? I have no gym equipment either . I hope you and your loved ones are safe and well during this time
I actually want to lose weight, over the last couple of years I've lost a good amount. I used to weight 26 stone . I'm now currently down to 20/19 and a half. But I'm funding it harder to shift this weight . By all means if youd like to chat a little more privately please DM me on insta, its Mr_Scorch
Granted I’m not that big into country, I don’t run from it but I don’t run to it either, but I’m not really a Toby Keith fan, he has a few great songs in my opinion, but just not for me, I definitely see the appeal. But he doesn’t bother me and I don’t bother him. However, I have been in a country mood lately, and he has been blowing up my Pandora, and it seriously opens my eyes to the talent he’s got. This song especially is just amazing.
Savanna Hi for one, Wikipedia is a site, not a sight. And for two, it doesn't have 'fake answers', the vast majority of the edits on there are debated ad nauseum between scholars. Rip Toby ❤ you made a lot off people's lives better and you are the best country artist there is. We love you and we will always miss you.
