    THANK YOU!! This video has helped me so so so much!! I'm also a menswear fashion designer in the process of applying for an MA in the UK, and as an international and latina designer I was completely lost... but then I found your channel, and then I found this video which has helped me SO MUCH, I truly appreciate all the info, the tips and the visuals, fingers crossed I get into the MA but God, I'm so grateful I found you, you have given me such a clear view of what to include in my portfolio and how to talk it through in my interview, can't wait to keep binge watching your videos and become a better designer! Much love from Guatemala!

    Thank you so much for this. You are an amazing designer and this is really helping me gather all my past work into one place and how to make sense of it all. I've worked as a cad/tetxile designer for about 17 years and I still don't have a solid portfolio. This is helping me tremendously!

      Hey!!! So glad your finding use in this video!!! A portfolio is the most valuable thing a designer can have without it we can’t progress! 👍

      @@SoCalledFashion Thank you so much. yes, it's been really hard knowing where to go next and how to progress. I have so many skills and experience, and there's not much room for growth as a cad designer (in. my experience), And since I haven't had an education in fashion design I'd feel like an imposter applying for design jobs (despite loving Illustrator and drawing the designers' flats for a lot of my jobs.) Do you know of any cad designers who moved on to becoming designers?

    • @SoCalledFashion
      @SoCalledFashion  2 года назад +2

      Yes I know a few who have moved from cad Attis to designer, the hardest part is to learn how to use illustrator so your well on your way!

      @@SoCalledFashion Thank you so much for your response, i sincerely appreciate it! I am currently working on my portfolio and it takes so much work! BUT I am having a good time learning Squarespace, and it's also helping me narrow down and get specific about how I want to market myself. Most importantly I think it is allowing me to value my work as a print designer and I'm realizing that cads and textiles are a vital part of the process, and I'm slowly feeling more proud of my accomplishments (why do we devalue ourselves so much?). Merry Christmas!

    Hi Antony! Thanks so much for the content! GREAT videos so far!! I am wondering if you have done some video materials about how you make the visual boards and flats (detailed explanations of each garment and then the collors) how you make those pages on illustrator (I suppose?). I am looking for some teaching videos on how to do that instead of writing it down by hand. Thanks in advance!

    • @SoCalledFashion

    Is indesign useful to create fashion portfolio?

    • @SoCalledFashion
      @SoCalledFashion  3 года назад +1

      you can use indesign, but if you want all your illustrations and vector tech packs i think its better to use illustrator.
