The tree incident brought back a huge memory! My sister and I had been really bad one day, and he told us to go out, and get a switch. So we went and got a little twig and brought it to him. He told us 3x to go and get a bigger one. So with tears in our eyes we went and got the biggest one we could find aka the entire tree. When we came back home my dad saw it and started busting out laughing. We didn't get spanked that day. We were sooooo lucky!!!

Tough love. For those of us who have had a mother like this, it is traumatic growing up, but hopefully everyone understands that this mom and so many other real moms like her are doing the best they know how.
I was very angry at my mom for a very long time because I thought she was just mean and didn't love me.
But I came to the realization that she was just loving me and protecting me the only way she knew how.
I can laugh at these videos, because I can relate and though they are tough, this mom is showing love ❤️. I have not seen a single one where she was just being mean for no reason. Tough love is sometimes what we get, but we can still turn out good because we learn to be better.

Each generation should try to do better than the next. It’s called the Flynn Effect. Being tough is good, but now we have the benefit of knowing that beating kids is bad for them and teaches them violence. Sternness and boundaries are better teachers.

So you didn’t see the one where she punished him for not finding the tape, which he obviously wasn’t doing on purpose, and was obviously just to vent HER frustration because she had the power? Or the one where she sends the son out for the switch and acts like he’s trying to be smart when in fact, he’s likely neurodivergent and doesn’t understand sarcasm, which is an obvious case of a mother not knowing her own child. Or the homework one, which is again just a mom venting her frustration as though her child isn’t terrified and young enough where homework can feel like an eternity and can snowball to not anxiety and depression, which is likely the number one reason the kid was failing a class and sleeping and attached to a video game, not that the mom would know or care. Or the one where she wanted him to sing purely for her amusement despite him not feeling well, and then punishing him even when he did? Or the one where she cusses out the girl about being mildly rude after she’s been screaming in her face? Or the one where she punches her obviously very young son in the face for asking a valid question? And then uses it as a punishment for not doing what she asked when, as though they’d something kids who’ve just started school even have the capacity to control much less even matter? And then doesn’t even allow him to be disappointed over it because that’s how much she needs to control everybody around her? Or the one where she acts like her daughter is indebted to her and is entitled to her earned money even though she’s the one who gave birth to her? How the hell is any of that supposed to benefit the kid? Having a stressful life does not excuse physically and emotionally abusing your kid.
