Nice video Brett. I use pretty much the same technique to build my kites. Starting on a 1:1 ACAD Dwg. But how do you prevent the double sided tape from sticking to your sewing machine needle while stitching?? Maybe you will share your secret about this topic 🤔
@EddyBorkelmans specifically the tape from Kites and Fun Things sews the best for me. If you sew at a decent pace you can get through an entire kite and only pick off the smallest glue ball. Currently I build with 1/8" tape and that doesn't produce any sticky glue balls
@@kitebum TNX I'll try to find out if tape like this is available in a kitestore here in Europa. Until now I use papertape that I take off the Icarex while sewing. It works but takes a lot of time🤷♂️
There is no pattern for this. This design is a combination of experience from JB and myself, patching the holes we had found in other kites. This is 100% original work available at kiteforge.com
Have you tried a walking foot attachment? They make universal ones that will work with basically any low shank sewing machine and they also have versions for high shank machines as well.
Im like 20+ yrs behind when it comes to finding cool things like Quad line kites. Few weeks ago i saw a video of this RevKite and i was awe stucked at the moverability of this kite, then several videos with John Barresi using them. Now looking at you making this kite, and seeing some cheap ebay copies floating around, to me it looks like a copy of a Revkite (sorry thats just my perspective on this). Isnt this style of kite have a Patent? (copy right law what ever its called). Who made these triangular v shaped kites first? I presonaly cant justify paying $600+ AU dollars for a kite like this, even if it was hand made and has carbon fibre rods handles and strings..
Ford, GM, Honda, Toyota.... ....who owns the copyright for a box on wheels? Our kites are designed by some of the top pilots in the quadline game. We have taken our 40 years+ of experience flying many quads, including revs. We have plugged all the holes we have found over those years to produce a kite unlike any other. This kite you see me building is still in the prototype phase you can't buy it yet. Our djinn has different sail geometry than any rev ever made. Cut out in the outer trailing edge to reduce wing flap while in reverse so reverse is way more crisp and clean. A bit faster as well. No exposed knots to catch lines so the tricking aspect is cleaner. Axles, flick flacks, clam rolls all without the hassle of snagging lines on knots. The also translates to second to none ground recovery moves. You can not keep this down! T piece fittings on the verticals at the leading edge. Metal end caps instead of plastic. 5 years later we still have yet to have leading edge mesh break down. I'll challenge you to find a rev flown daily that still has original mesh unbroken. It happened within 3 months on every rev I've ever owned. We have built an agile tank and we stand behind our product on the field with you 🤷🏽♂️
It should also be mentioned, the videos you saw of *me* flying Revs... I've flown quads and duals both since 1991, and even when Rev's parent ran out eons ago, the experienced fliers like myself didn't have much say in any of the design evolution, or upgrades to the build quality. The Djinn is a natural evolution from consumer grade stuff to high end boutique, right down to the original bridle I designed for the sail Brett and I created together. My Djinn flight videos vs Rev flight videos speak for themselves, it's a new level of performance. But not anyone who can play a violin at basic levels can actually tell the difference when they pick up a Stradivarius. 😉
@@kitebum Right, more than once I've been set up to build kites but then I go out and fly one I already own. Maybe someday, props to you for doing wall you have.
Appreciate it! I have a 3 video series on Facebook that goes quite a bit deeper. They're long as they were live but a full on look into me building the final prototype
Loving this video! So much work goes into making your masterpiece! 💖
Excellent video Brett!
As always, great work.. Love the broken spar as the spindle for your tape dispenser.
Thanks Rob! I saw that kite you built and gave to Jim Cosca... beautiful ❤
Gracias
Awesome Sauce cooked by the kiteChef!

This is awesome. I am going to use some of those smart building methods now for myself. Great! Thanks for sharing.

New toys!!!!
Coming to a gym near you soon :)
nice video. is there any reason you use double sided tape instead of a glue roller?
The teacher took the glue away from me
Tape is easier to use
Where did you get the pattern for that style of kite

beautifull
IDK if I could sew polyester ripstop without a dual feed sewing machine.
It's not bad at all actually. Icarex feeds just fine. Just like anything, the more you do it the easier it gets.

I have. It's okay but it's honestly better with the standard foot. Icarex feeds great in my Bernina 👍🏽

😍😍😍😍
Are you building all of the Djinn’s?
No. As much as I love building, production building is not something I want to do lol. Props to the Bazzer's of the world that can do it ✊🏽

Hello
Hello Brett, thank you very much for the nice and informative video, it helps me a lot to build and improve my kites. 🙂🙂🙂🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻
